I would prefer Wisniewski over Markov, he wouldn't cost as much and besides, who is gonna score goals next year? Besides the urgency on D all of a sudden, they still need a pure scorer... -

Here is why someone would take Hudler, he is young, has potential, in a contract year and if he scores 20, $2.875M is fair... he just doesn't fit here... -

Lids should take $5.5M to $6M. Still will leave Holland $19M!!!!! (after he trades Hudler!) I could imagine, maybe, just maybe he could offer something to Richards after all? Maybe? -

Yes, if all that happens, plus the cap goes up $4.1M!?!?! Holland would have over $25,000,000!!!!! to spend....when is the last time he had that much to spend?!?!?! Screw it, Ehrhoff, Wisniewski & Babchuk! add those to Lidstrom, viola! Lidstrom Stuart Kronwall Ehrhoff Wisniewski Babchuk Kindl Do it Kenny! -

Now this is exciting, at least now we know something is gonna happen, either a trade or a signing of someone significant. I cannot stop looking up salaries and stats and hits and teams!!!! The thing is, now Holland just doesn't have to shore up the defensive end of the line, but now he is going to have to find away to replace Rafalski's points and powerplay minutes... Ehrhoff makes sense, what about Kaberle? Wisniewski scored 51 points, now offering him $4M doesn't seem out of the realm. Holland is gonna have to scoop someone up in the first week, if not the first day of UFA, just to make sure he fills Rafi's spot as best as he can... -

Please OH please DO NOT give in to Ericsson's demands! Just go and try to land Bieska or Wisniewski or Brewer.... But now is the time to convince me Ken, that you ARE the All Powerfull Wizard of GM's... If you really have magic, it is now time to weave it! As of now, here is our confirmed D: Stuart - Kronwall Kindl - ??????? ??????? - ??????? Yikes! -

Wow, tricky is right! Not only do we need to get better than Salei and Ericsson, so we need to find a top 4 d-man? Well, at least it opens up $6M more! OF course now Lidstrom can sign a contract for about $5M, since he will STILL be the highest paid d-man on the Wings! Lidstrom - Stuart Kronwall - ?????? Kindl - ????????? ?????? Yikes! -
Emmerton has 1 more year of options, according to capgeek... (nevermind that, I am not quite sure how to figure it out, I thought I had it, but I guess I don't) With Hudler being traded (yes, I am living in my world, so leave me alone) they should be able to re-sign both Miller and Eaves as well as bring up Mursak AND find someone who can put the puck in the net to play on the first line... that wouldn't be a bad deal for Detroit, Hudler and 1st for the #9 overall, but I agree, Hudler isn't worth it...
-
...and Hudler sucks, he's done being a Wing...deal with it...
-
yeah, I wonder how many "negs" he received for saying trade Hudler...
-
Finally we hear it, Holland is human and makes mistakes and isn't the Stonewall, Ironclad GM he is rumored to be. Malhotra 1,000,000 X better than Williams... Oh well, lets hope Robo-Holland shows up this off season and doesn't make any human mistakes...
-
Yes, but even though Malhotra WANTED to be here, Holland said no thanks to him at $1.5M and gave it to Jason Williams instead... Yay greatest GM!
-
I hear and agree... I just don't want to see another, let's sign Jason Williams for $1.5M and say no to Manny Malhotra for $1.5M... UGH!
-
lol @ not.... Nabokov will report to camp, but he aint gonna play, so trading the likes of Hudler to the Isle is easy. Unless you are saying that Nabokov is not worth Hudler, then I say It's amazing that folks still think Hudler is gonna help Detroit. I understand, let's give him another year, that's fine, but when he is hot garbage again what will it be, let's re-sign him and give him another chance? If last season and the playoffs is not enough proof that Hudler blows chunks, then you slappies are hopeless... I guess if he is on the Wings at least I have someone to blame things on... Hey, you like your players soft and fluffy, I prefer them to be hard and mean....just a difference of opinion. Sure Cole and Jokinen don't exactly define hard and mean, but I am just geting tired of the same soft players getting injured every season, especially when it counts. I just want a little change, thats all, just a little...
-
Amen to that! If he could pull another Hossa miracle that would be awesome! I guess we will see! I laugh at the negatives people hand out to others for being passionate about their hockey team! It's not like I am saying our team sucks and Crosby rules, I am simply screaming for some changes that might make their chances better next year....it;s obvious that this team was just that much short...
-
But either one would be an improvement over Hudler at his price. I was generous with their pay because if I put them too low then I would hear "they'll get more than that!" Wisniewski & Babchuk would be better than Salei & Ericsson... Either one of Jokinen or Cole would be better than Hudler... If you're looking at price per point total, Cole is on par with Franzen, so is Franzen overpaid? I am just saying, I am not looking to argue or get into a neg-fest. But this team needs some improving and anything I suggested would be better than what they had. Will any of it happen, nope, because like I said before, I AGREE that the team will probably look to same next season, and that is unfortunate...
-
Well, I already said I agree that the team will be very similar next season, so we do actually agree on that. But I do believe that we need the changes at least on D. Wisniewski and Babchuk wouldn't cost too much, yet will more than replace and actually improve our D over Ericsson and Salei. I do believe Holland has Nabakov up his sleeve and unless he can get him for a draft pick, it may cost us someone like Hudler, and out of him or Filppula, I'd rather keep Filppula. We may not need that much change up front, but with the Cap going up to $63.5M (at the most) why waste it on giving players raises they don't deserve, when there are exceptional players that wouldn't cost too much to try to better your chances? We'd really only lose Hudler and that would not be a loss at all. Miller brings less to the table than Eaves, so I would sacrifice his roster spot for more points like Jokinen or Tanguay. Erik Cole would help this team despite what people think, he would be MUCH improvement over Hudler as would Jussi... But you are right, there is no reason to think they wont be just as good next year, hopefully the change in D coach will shore up our GAA and then maybe we win those 1 goal games, instead of lose them. If anything, I can wish for Wisniewski and Nabakov to be back-up... also I think Ericsson wants too much money and it can be better spent on Babchuk, who brings more to the table than Ericsson. So at the very least, you say goodbye to Salei and Ericcson for Wisniewski and Babchuk, then you trade for Nabakov...
-
I understand, and I have no doubt that he whatever happens, the Wings will be contenders again, but I do not want to be one win away from being eliminated so early in the playoffs. To sweep Phoenix and then to be on the verge of being swept is not where I want to see this team next season. I know, a bounce here and a bounce there and if Franzen was healthy... Those contracts do look good, but having extra cap space allows him to give a big UFA some big cash to come here. And really Wisniewski is not that big of a UFA, it's not like what it would cost to lure Weber here, but Wisniewski is better than Salei and Ericsson combined. Unfortunately, if Holland sits on his hands until August, Salei and Ericcson (maybe not even Ericsson) will be the only OKAY choices he has... I just want to see Holland make some changes instead of saying, if this guy was healthy or that guy was healthy. Fact is, Franzen gets injured EVERY season, even in 2008 he missed almost the entire Dallas series if I remember correctly...injuries happen, BUT it happens to Franzen TOO MUCH.
-
I am afraid you are right except exchange Tatar for Mursak (he cannot be sent down without clearing waivers,) but I would like to see something more like this.... FORWARDS Johan Franzen ($3.954m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Erik Cole ($3.500m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Jussi Jokinen ($2.000m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) / Patrick Eaves ($0.950m) Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) / Jan Mursak ($0.550m) DEFENSEMEN Brian Rafalski ($6.000m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($5.500m) Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) / James Wisniewski ($3.750m) Anton Babchuk ($1.900m) / Brad Stuart ($3.750m) / Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) / Evgeni Nabokov ($0.570m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $63,500,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,653,711; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $846,289 (I know it isn't probable Lidstrom will sign for less than $6M, but it just gives me a little cap space for mid season help...) ...I'd trade Hudler for Nabokov and have to say goodbye to Miller, unless I sign him and then expose him to waivers and send him to GRR. You may not like the players I chose to sign, but either way, this team needs change....change...change....but unfortunately you are probably right and if this team stays the same, I don't feel too good about our Cup chances next season...
-
disturbing that I read in a Detroit News articles today that Holland isn't exicted by the available UFA's this year and will likely not pursue anyone until he sees what is left in August and September... Really? This strategy has actually worked with Salei, Eaves and Modano? REALLY? Who the f*** are you trying to kid? Hey, Kenny, are you still competing for the Cup? NO! SO IT DIDN'T ******* WORK! God Damn I am so sick and tired of Holland and his "holier than thou" GM skills! You got bounced two years straight in the second round BY THE SAME TEAM!!!! MAKE SOME ******* CHANGES! But Nooooooooooo! Holland is gonna let ALL the good UFA's walk elsewhere ON THE CHEAP none-the-less, then he will re-sign Fetisov for a comeback tour! Holland knows how to negotiate a contract, BUT HE IS FAR FROM THE BEST GM IN THE LEAGUE! For every example of Holland finding a late round gem, I can give you an example of another team finding someone just as good if not better! And if someone even mentions Ericsson...... From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110521/SPORTS0103/105210319/Wings-might-not-find-much-value-in-2011-free-agent-class#ixzz1N1c0mUSg

...Hitchcock would be great! Ericsson can re-sign for $2M or less, I don't even think he deserves $2M, but since it was already offered to him, fine. I just don't get players get raises who haven't earned or don't deserve them. If Ericsson deserves $2M then Helm deserves $5M in comparison to productivity... I would actually prefer to spend Ericsson $2M on someone who is gonna use their body more. Take Ericsson's $2M, add another $2M to it and give Wisniewski a 3 yr deal at $4M each... But that is just me... ANyhow, Hitchcock would be great here, but (without looking back thru the pages) has anyone played on the names? Two ***** behind the bench... They could change to Paul McCock as well! Boy if we could only make our team meaner and tougher, then when they kick everyone's assess you could say, what do you expect with two ***** coaching them.... edit: duh! right above my post, angry cock, pissed cock... still funny though!
