It's not that I don't like Jimmy, but I just believe Nabokov is a better goalie. Besides, I haven't cursed Ken Holland out, I am excited that he signed Nabokov and hope beyond hope that somehow he becomes a Red Wing. Just because I don't like Jimmy as much doesn't mean I owe Holland an apology or a pledge. If Nabby somehow becomes a Red Wing next season, I have a lot of confidence that he will win the starting job from Jimmy. If he doesn't, at least it'll be better competition than McDonald or a seemingly over the hill Osgood.

Fixed For You....

Ya, last season was SO far away... I believe that a family of 5 can barely afford to go to a hockey game anymore and if last nights game was the ONE that they saved up for and spent a TON of money at with parking, concession, souvenirs PLUS the price of 5 tickets, then I don't want to hear about a "BORED" hockey team. With the MILLIONS these guys make, they need to show up 100% EVERY NIGHT, or get the f*** out! The Wings stunk so bad last night that you could see the green smoke coming out of their assess! They owe that family of 5 an apology (along with the rest of the fans that spent their hard earned money to get there last night.) Ya know what? Lose, fine, but show up playing like they did? UN.ACCEPT.ABLE.

I believe... ...that their defense sucks, minus Lidstrom and Stuart, every other defender can hit the road. ...Howard is not good, he is good as a back up (and not even as good as Osgood was at the same point in his career.) ...Brad McCrimmon must go. ...We are lacking serious fire power. I'd still like to see what Madano can do with a full season, but pretty much, if your name isn't Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Helm or Abdelkader then you can leave your jersey at the door on your way out. I will give passing grades to Holmstrom, Cleary, Eaves & Miller, but I am VERY disappointed and upset with the rest. AND contrary to what most LGW'er's believe, the future is not bright. Our farm club is full of the same kind of players. Murask, Tatar, etc... ...The Wings need to cut ties with some salary and get that sniper...

...uh, flipped the switch, the wrong way... Including the "switch" game, they are 1-4. Beginning to think that 100 points may be more of a challenge than once predicted... How about in the off season, we flip the switch on some players? Yesterday was embarrassing! They owe each and every one of those fans that went there an apology AND a refund! And it should come out of each players and coaches pay! I am so glad we signed Franzen to a forever contract! Damn is he sucking! I am beginning to expect more out of Hudler than Franzen anymore, and most the time we get it!

Colors...Co.. Co.. Co.. Colors..Colors.... Ya, lets fight because someone else has a different Jersey on. It was a little a girl and her dad, so I had to be nice.... Hey, how about just be an adult? The world is full of dumb-ass people, that's for sure...

I didn't mean it like him and Mickey didn't get along or didn't work good together, I meant it just never sounded or felt good for most fans. Sure, they were used to Strader and were a little weirded out by the new guy's voice instead of Stader, but the comfort zone just never got there for most fans. When Daniels took over, it didn't seem like that uncomfortable feeling was there. Daniels almost sounded like he has been doing Red Wings hockey for awhile. Maybe it was because of his CBC broadcasts and we were a bit familiar with his voice, rather than someone new like Goldberg. Anyhow, I too hope Kenny stays forever... sidenote: To this day, nothing says Tiger Baseball like Ernie & Paul and George & Al, even though they cant stay forever, some die and some just retire, but the guys on the radio and TV now, just don't do it for me. I cannot even stand watching or listening to the Tigers because of it. Maybe after these guys retire, the next guys will sound more like baseball. But, for me, right now, these current announcers (tv and radio) don't sound like baseball... ...remember when there was no more Bruce Martyn and we had to get used to the new guy? Fortunately he was good, but he still isn't Bruce Martyn...

as much as I love Kenny, be forewarned, this is how our beloved Dave Strader left us. A couple of guest shots on some ESPN games, he even called some college basketball games for ESPN before he got his contract. Can't blame him for taking the money and wanting to further his career. Maybe if Daniels follows, we can rescue Strader out of the dessert... We don't need another Mike Goldberg (even though he seemed to find his niche' in Ultimate Fighting) he just didn't seem to gel with Mickey. God knows Murphy aint ready for play by play, he's a sub sub par color guy.... I hope Kenny stays, and just makes some spot appearances, but you can't blame him if he wants to expand his career...

Michigan or State didn't pursue him, he wasn't that huge of a scorer under 18 and Ohio State just offered him more. He only played there one season anyhow, Vancouver saw something in him. He has sure outplayed his fellow 1st round CCHA counterpart Jeff Tambellini. Looking at that 1st round, wow! What a draft that was! If only Detroit had a 1st round pick that year, I think it was traded to LA in the Mathieu Schneider deal. Ya, we would have chosen #26 overall, wonder if they would've pick Corey Perry?(he went #28) Probably not, they would've picked Loui Eriksson who went #33, later to Dallas... That would have been more certain than the sun coming up tomorrow!

There is a Provnce called Atlantic? Nice try, REAL provinces only, cant throw a guy in just because he doesn't have enough players to form their own team. That be like the US saying well, there aren't enough players from Florida, so lets form a South Atlantic team so everyone can play... Who are you Gary's other nephew? Not Enough Newfy's? then they're out... Not enough from Iowa? Out!

You are beginning to understand my method of madness! But, 4+ a game is a bad bad way to start the playoffs... I hope they find the switch and hit it...
-
you'd probably play with more heart.... I'm available to shove my louisville down the throat of the first player to give a Wing a headshot or knee to knee. I don't care, suspended me! First canuck to elbow someone gets a two hander to the throat...

yes, but when the Islanders force Nabby to honor his contract to the entire next season, he becomes trade-able without having to pass through waivers, so iamgine when the Wings have Howard/Nabby all season and into to playoffs? Nabby for a year at $550,000 plus a Stanley Cup not only means good for us, but big money for him after 2012...
-
....yezbutt, it is far from the first time he has done something dumb.
-
Flipped the switch? More like desperate fans grasping for straws. I hope, just like everyone else, for a long Cup run, but realistically this team is going nowhere giving up 4+ goals a game... After these playoffs, this team needs a major shake up. Lidstrom can make up his mind what he wants to do, but it better involved yet another pay cut, and if you are not named Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Stuart, Abdelkader or Helm, then your job is not secure. Doesn't mean you'll be gone, just means keep a eye open in the back of your head...

Whats your favorite "BAD" contract right now?
LeftWinger replied to Rick Zombos Ghost's topic in General
...ya Scott Gomez, $7.3M for 7 goals and 27 asst and a -15... Sheesh! In comparison, Darren Helm $912,000 11 goals 20 asst and a +11... -

bleh... but actually he is not the only one not playing up to his contract! There are more than a few to name... -
usually yes, but as it stands today we'd draw the Hawks and that is pretty much the only team we may face in the first that I am pretty confident we'll beat... I'd hate to face Dallas or LA...

A couple great regular seasons and everyone gets delusions of grandeur... just jokin with ya! I know 6 out of 8 over 100 nice... ...Of course 14 out of 17 and closing in on 15/18, now we're talking! If you pro-rate 1995 with 70 points in 48 games, there would be about 112pts in 82 games, Wow! Blessed we are!

Beer too expensive plus more alcohol which means a tougher time coming home, actually Lacrosse is listed ahead of Hockey as their National Pastime, and outside of the Ballet, I have never seen a woman walk around topless. (I know it's legal, but noone does it.) But hey, Canada is still the second greatest country in earth! just messing with you! I hope Datsyuk is ok to play soon!
-
Yes, 100 points should be a given. With 13 games remaining I am hoping for 110 points, even though that is gonna be a bigger challenge, but I like aiming high! Honestly though, I'd take 90 points and 16 wins come playoffs! (well duh!)
-
wow, what a dirty player he is! I see the league eventually banning hits like the Brule hit, not because its dirty, but because it meant nothing to the play. he didn't separate him from the puck or cause a turnover. As nice as the hit was, it was pretty much a meaningless hit. The league would rather have all teams play like the Red Wings and not hit, but rather lean hard on someone to try and separate the puck or cause a turnover, just watch Lidstrom's entire career. This is definitely turning into a pansy league. Sad, Sad, Sad.....

Crosby's family trying to convice him to retire?
LeftWinger replied to Rick Zombos Ghost's topic in General
...Eric Lindros part II. Hate to see him have to retire so soon, but even if he did come back, he wouldn't be the same player. Guess he shouldn't have been so pampered growing up! This in the NHL bub! That being said, I hope he comes back because I would rather watch him lose than see him not play at all! -
Exactly! A win is a win,and I will take 16 of these in the playoffs, but too bad it aint gonna happen that way. Watching the Wings the past month has made me so happy that Holland didn't make a deadline move I am so glad Hudler is awesome and that Franzen is the new Fedorov. Then entire defense is horrible (whether it's McCrimmon or the players I don't know) and if it weren't for three or four forwards this team would be outside the playoffs looking in. This team needs a fire lit underneath them, too bad the trade deadline came and went with nothing even resembling a smoldering ash being lit. I realize there wasn't much wiggle room, but sometimes making a huge move sets the wheel in motion. Of course, there probably weren't many teams out there wanting any of our crap... ...I will just tighten the belt one more notch and cross my fingers and hold on tight and hope for some luck in the playoffs! (especially when everyone gets healthy! ...oh wait...)

Owners back Gary Bettman with 5-year contract extension
LeftWinger replied to Barrie's topic in General
Sort of like the President of The United States is for our crappy Government... ...owners don't want someone there who knows whats best for the game (Shanahan) they want a lawyer there who knows whats best for them and their money...
