Ok, this is getting ridiculous! I am so tired of all these "Songs with Meaning" crap at the Joe! No other arena does this and it makes the Joe look silly! Can we please just go back to random music playing and a fog horn for a goal and then maybe go back to Gary Glitter's Rock N' Roll part 2? Hell it was even cool when they played EMF Unbelievable after every goal. I am so sick of the music after a penalty or a power play and if I have to listen to Billy Joel after a 4th goal again, I am gonna puke! It is not even a fun experience at the Joe anymore. I was tired of Budd Lynch, but this new guy sucks! How about someone with some pizzazz? Don't get me started on Karen Newman! I know I sound like an anti-fan, but there is no "EXPERIENCE" at the Joe anymore. It's almost as bad as a Tiger's game when you have to hear 45 seconds of each players "walk to the home plate" music 4 or 5 times a game! Simple is best, you put too much thought into it and it all comes out sounding dumb! Simple, Wings score, blow the Fog Horn, play a goal song. Just one! Not one for each player! Whats next? Datsyuk scores! followed by the playing of Tatu's They're not gonna get us! Zetterberg scores - How Sweet(Swede)it is to be loved by you! Miller - MSU fight song? Eaves - Eve of Destruction? Modano - Mojo Rising part of LA Woman? Howard makes a great save - Howard The Duck? ...it's that bad guys, I can see clearly now the rain has gone? Gimme a break! Hey they can play that song when the ref makes a bad call or misses a call, Nell Carter's Gimme A Break! The Joe is the most Un-Cool place to go watch a game.

...just a question about "pushing" his contract. If this happens, and he asks for a trade in the off season, does he still get exposed to waivers or can Snow trade him outright? If this is the case, then this is a great move by Holland, because if Snow trades him to the Wings, the Wings get Nabokov for a full season at $570,000 instead of three months. He would just have to convince Lids and Modo to hang around for "JUST ONE MORE" try! Of course we may lose Hudler in the deal...DARN!

Well, it actually took Ilitch about 7 years to be a perennial winner in the league and only about 12 years to be a perennial Stanley Cup contender, so decades is a stretch. Fedorov defected at the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle, when his team was here playing in the games, so there was nothing underhanded there (sure Ilitch probably enticed him to do so, but Fedorov still had to do it on his own and he did it legally.) Petr Klima on the other hand is whole different story. The actually were running through the woods with him (not Ilitch, but Wings officials) to an awaiting car where the took off with him and on to the United States. Ironically Konstantinov faked in-operable(in Russia) brain injury that could only be fixed in the United States. That is when he defected...

Well considering that the only reason Snow GOT him is because of Hollands footwork. Do you think Nabokov would even consider signing that contract with the Islanders outright? So, Snow didn't get him for that amount, he was handed him for that amount because of a stupid rule. But alas, it is a rule, so he is an Islander. But Snow is an idiot, he probably thought they were buddies because he is a former goaltender and hey have that goaltender comradeship. Hey Snow, CLICK! Just like when Barry Sanders told Matt Millen to get off his porch! "But Barry, it's me! Matt Millen!"

This! Howard was a rookie last season and played like one in the playoffs. Is Holland willing to take that chance again this season, especially with the chance he may lose Lidstrom at the end of it. If they want to try to win another one while Lids is here, Modano, Draper, etc... He needs to make a move (which is why he signed Nabokov.) I'd like to see Vokoun here, but he makes waaaay too much money for the Wings to afford.

I voted yes and I played. I didnt vote because of those particular players, but please just someone that stands up to somebody! The Wings are a bunch of Pu$$ies... A player gives your BEST defensman an illegal head shot, breaking his jaw and sidelining him for 6 weeks and.nobody.does.a.thing. Even Abdelkader was right there and didnt do a thing... Sure, I know the Wings can win without this type of player, but it would come alot easier if the opposing jack-assess had something else to worry about out there.

Hudler for Nabokov....

I said this a couple of years ago when Brad signed his contract, and boy did I get lit up! I guess that is because Kronwall was Nick, Jr. and he just played an awesome 2008 playoff and Ericsson was supposed to be the next best thing behind Kronwall. Fast forward to now and it looks like Stuart is gonna wind up being the #1 guy here after Nick retires, especially if its next season. Both Brad and Rafalski are signed thru next year, I can see Stuart getting a raise and Rafalski taking a cut. But next season, if Lids goes, we have Rafalski for the offensive end, I believe we need to get better (or tougher) on the defensive end. Someone maybe like Wisneiwski. We all know there is NO replacing Lidstrom, but the time is gonna come when you have to deal with it. Since we seem to have no choice but to have Kronwall here, we have two offensive minded defensmen in him and Rafalski, Stuart is their best defensman right now (uninjured) anyhow, and then add Wiesnewski, then let the young guys battle it out for the 6th and 7th spot. (assuming Salei isn't gonna be around either) I refuse to give Kindl the 6th spot because I just don't think he is good enough... Honestly the UFA defensive pool is not that good this off-season...
-
Crosby..... not as close as you though it would be....
-
inreality though, it also circimvents a UFA's abiltity to sign where he wants. Lets say 34 year old European player Hok Ptew is playing in Finland, he hires a North American agent and becomes a UFA in the NHL, he only negtiates with ONE team, and signs there, if he's any good, he'll never play there. That is not an UNRESTRICTED Free Agent. That is what the NHLPA fought for... It's ok for the league to control where a player goes, but the UFA cannot control his own destiny. UFA means UFA. It's big government in sports...

why would it be collusion? teams dump salary all the time. A low seeded team claims Nabokov off waivers, then at the trade deadline the decide to dump salary. Just because they claim Nabokov off waivers from Detroit doesn't mean they can ever trade with them again does it? Team wants to dump salary and Detroit just happens to be in the market for a top 6 forward (at a cheap cost.) Other teams may think its a little fishy, especially if they offer "MORE" for that player, but teams do it all the time with division rivals. They'll ask for the world from a division rival and take much less from an out of conference team...
-
Crosby would be a great comparison! They didn't call him Floppa for nothing! What is it a player once said about him, when he has the puck he is the hardest player to play against, but when he doesn't have the puck, all you got to do is breathe on him and he goes down... Ya, sounds like Cindy to me!
-
Why? Anyone can win in Detroit, right? That's the only reason Osgood has 400 wins, right? So if anyone can win in Detroit, why not pay someone $250,000 to do so?

I was by far NOT the loudest voice calling for Leino's departure. I really don't recall be partial either way when it came to Leino, but I was not beating the soap box to trade him no matter what... Hudler on the other hand..... edit: as a matter of fact, looking back over my posts since before Leino was traded, here is what I found that was my opinion in the "Miller or Leino Poll Thread" from January of last year: Yeah, that sounds like I was the loudest voice and leading the trade Leino campaign....
-
Crap! I have been discovered!!!!
-
Ya, I read that he didnt play, sorry. This attempt is fine, because the last time he tried, he sucked when we SWEPT the aves out of the playoffs, and he got bounced around by us and OWNED by Zetterberg. Bring it! No Fear!
-
it is my belief that if Geno (I hate the nickname Nabby, besides that was a SJ thing) is able to become a Red Wing, Osgood will be put on LTIR for the rest of the season, opening up $1.4M of cap space and then at the trade deadline, they will trade Hudler and his OVERPAID $2.8M, opening up even more to allow them to acquire a missing piece to put them over the top to win the Cup. Trade Hudler for a pick, then get a player with over $4.2M in cap space...it's so simple it's hidden right in plain view!
-
Both, but mostly Holland knows he cannot win the Cup giving up 4-5 goals a game....
-
so why no re-entry waivers? special rules apply? He played outside of North America this season...
-
-
that is exactly what I was complaining about. force teams to make a decision within the 24 hours, dont give them 14 extra hours to study...
-
but doesn't he clear waives at noon tomorrow no matter what? If the first team in line waits until 11:59am tomorrow to decide NOT to claim him, then he clears waivers at noon. There has to be a time limit for each team to decide, because if Jersey waits until 11:59:59am then 28 other teams don't have a chance at him. He clears waivers at Noon no matter what, its not Holland's fault if someone overslept and forgot to put a claim in, at Noon, he's ours. Not unless New Jersey would do...that....for......Holla...... WAIT A MINUTE! That's it! There's your conspiracy! Holland is GENIUS! Not unless every is required to submit paperwork before Noon, whether they want him or not, then the NHL just takes the pile of papers in order and goes down on by one until they see a yes....
-
How's this for a conspiracy scenario trade to get Nabby back if someone claims him... Stick with me... Holland makes a deal with Jersey (or the first team in line with cap space) to claim Nabby, then that team immediately signs Nabby to a 5 year deal worth about $3M-$3.5M per season with a No Movement clause. Now, we all have confirmed that if a team trades him, he'll have to go BACK on waivers, so he gets traded to Detroit for $3m-$3.5m worth of player(s) so now, most teams would pass on him because of the Cap Hit and the No Movement clause... Now thats a conspiracy!
-
Here's the BS part of the waiver 24 hour rule, he should have been on the waiver wire IMMEDIATELY after he signed! Why? Because it would forced the other teams to make quick decisions! So, New Jersey would've had to decide last night (within minutes) whether to pick him up and cut a player or pass on him. But in realty when it was announced around 930-1000pm, ALL teams essentially had another 14 hours to decide who they can afford to cut, trade, buy out or whatever to make a roster spot for Nabby. So really, he is on waivers for 38 hours, just can't be picked up until Noon the next day. So instead of being forced to make a decision within minutes, New Jersey had 14 hours to mull it over and every team after that had an extra 14 as well. Thats BS! He should hit the wire immediately after signing, THEN teams have 24 hours to decide. He should be cleared at 1000pm TONIGHT! IMO... edit: I do like the NO MOVEMENT rule though! That seems to help us a little, it kind of forces a team to ditch a current (possibly over paid) goalie right now and if noone claims that guy off waivers, the team claiming Nabby is STILL responsible for the cap hit of the cut player... Cross your fingers!
