Here's the BS part of the waiver 24 hour rule, he should have been on the waiver wire IMMEDIATELY after he signed! Why? Because it would forced the other teams to make quick decisions! So, New Jersey would've had to decide last night (within minutes) whether to pick him up and cut a player or pass on him. But in realty when it was announced around 930-1000pm, ALL teams essentially had another 14 hours to decide who they can afford to cut, trade, buy out or whatever to make a roster spot for Nabby. So really, he is on waivers for 38 hours, just can't be picked up until Noon the next day. So instead of being forced to make a decision within minutes, New Jersey had 14 hours to mull it over and every team after that had an extra 14 as well. Thats BS! He should hit the wire immediately after signing, THEN teams have 24 hours to decide. He should be cleared at 1000pm TONIGHT! IMO... edit: I do like the NO MOVEMENT rule though! That seems to help us a little, it kind of forces a team to ditch a current (possibly over paid) goalie right now and if noone claims that guy off waivers, the team claiming Nabby is STILL responsible for the cap hit of the cut player... Cross your fingers!

Well, my Russian is pretty RUSSty, but I did notice the last name's symbols were looking the same.... :

Is #81 little brother Fedor? edit: Yep, answered my own question, he played with big bro Sergei last season and 5 games this season before going to two other teams this season...
-
Someone had a great point on TSN forum, Detroit signs him to the 1 yr $570,000 ($250,000 prorated,) then (insert piece of s*** franchise here) picks him off waivers, then he signs with Detroit as a UFA come July 1st. Holland is Genius!

Ya, I know, but Miller could take another number, maybe Nabby will buy the number off Miller... Last I checked #18 was available, and Drew wore that in Anaheim. Unless the Wings are waiting for Hossa to be bought out! -or- maybe they will retire it for Maltby? :ninja:
-
Well, Jimmy should realize that this is a bandage so he can heal properly... Why play a non 100% Jimmy or a not-so-good MacDonald, when Nabby will come in, have MacDonald as backup so Jimmy can heal. I understand him being scared though, because if Nabby comes in and plays stellar, Babcock will have no choice but to go with him in the payoffs... SOrry Jimmy. I do agree that McCrimmon HAS TO GO!
-
Give him #20.... why not?
-
Nah, just love beating the Osgood haters up. When folks say any goalie can play and win here, but then when a great goalie wants to come here, he's not good enough. Nabby a much better goalie than Osgood, so if thats the case, we win!
-
WAIT A MINUTE! For all you Osgood haters out there that argue the only reason he has 400 wins is because he played for Detroit! Now, you say Nabby isn't that good, and shouldn't be signed, but then you say "ANYONE can be good in Detroit, even my grandmother can play goal for Detroit." Well here we have a great goalie wanting to play here were ANYONE can play (that is the ONLY reason Osgood has 400 wins right?) so maybe Nabby can come in a be SPECTACULAR! Besides if someone can win as much as he can and NOT play for Detroit, he should be AWESOME here, because Detroit wins in spite of the goalie and not because of, right? Remember, ANYONE can be goalie here and THE ONLY reason Osgood has 400 wins is because of where he played... So if Nabby can play that great NOT in Detroit, just think (using your guys' logic) how great he would be here?!?!?! Get it done Kenny! Because if Osgood can win here, ANYONE can! unless language has changed in the CBA, you can. When Nashville claimed Doug Brown off waivers, the Wings immediately turned around and traded right back for him... Now if rules changed then so be it.

1/15 GDT: Blue Jackets 5 at Red Wings 6 (OT)
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The OP needs to rename the thread to Columbus Blue Jackets at Detroit Griffins... -
I find the comment stating that Gary Bettman and his Slime Machine WANTS Detroit to win the Cup to die for! Gary I apologize for everything I have ever said! Bettman For President! edit: I was actiually puking while reading this article and was waiting to read the next excuse "The reason he got suspended was because Colin Campbell used to be in the Wings organization and he feels a sense of loyalty to the team that propelled his career."
-
90? He can have that next season when Modo retires...
-
Adam Oates wasn't too bad... But don't forget Grigorenko wore it in pre-season the one year he tried to make it here too!

actually, a Jack Ass is another name for a Male Donkey. A "Mule" is an offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. The size of a mule and work to which it is put depends largely on the breeding of the mule's dam. Mules can be lightweight, medium weight, or even, when produced from draught horse mares, of moderately heavy weight. An aficionado of the mule claims that they are "more patient, sure-footed, hardy and long-lived than horses, and they are considered less obstinate, faster, and more intelligent than donkeys. (wiki) ...so, to call The_Mule an Ass is an incorrect reference (he may be an Ass, I don't know, thats between you and him, but not because he is The_Mule,) however, you are calling him the son of an Ass, since we've established that a mule is the offspring of a male donkey(AKA an ass.) But then you'd be calling his father an ass and there's no need to bring family into this! back on topic, after all the dives and flops this kid has done to embarrass himself and the Pens and the league, its about time he feels what its like to have a REAL injury! That being said, I don't want to see his career end this early, so here's to him getting healthy eventually. You best believe this is gonna change the way he plays a bit, he will be looking around more on the ice worrying about getting hit again. Hope he has a better head than Lindros...

Didnt we have a thread about this guy talking about he was considering signing with the Wings? edit: Yep! Found it! http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php/topic/63684-detroit-the-hottest-option-for-zuccarello-aasen/page__hl__zuccarello

So, using that theory, lets not give any of the 9 goalies ahead of Osgood ANY credit. Especially those Broduer and Roy characters, just look at the teams they played for, hell, my Gramma could've won in Colorado or New Jersey... Pfft, 600 wins, Marty is average, put him on Florida his whole career and he doesn't have 200 wins... strange, since Yzerman never won the Hart or Richard award,I guess he was never the best center in the game, ever. Hell, without his teammates he doesn't have 1063 assists without his teammates. Brett Hull was average until Adam Oates played with him, I guess Hull doesn't deserve his HOF induction or number retired.
-
If he gets elected to the Hall, then retire his number. Not before. The Joe's rafters are reserved for the best. HOF'er, hang the sweater.
-
Yes The same one who couldn't stop a beach ball after losing to Toronto in the first round of 1993, then was traded... I get it, so let the guy who stops 13 quality shots but still loses get the nod over the guy who stops 12 quality shots and wins... Wins = Starts, just ask Scotty Bowman I concur, but Osgood wasn't playing because Howard WAS WINNING..... (hmmmmm, great concept.) No, I have some left over for you to use to wipe Hudler's jizz off your chin....
-
Three things: 1. Babcock needs to play Howard next game because he IS a sophomore and it may effect his confidence and then he'll pull a Tim Cheveldae. Just in case he is fragile-minded, you don't wanna mess with that. 2. Babcock SHOULD play them every other and tell them, who ever wins, gets the next start, lets make this a competition again. 3. Believe you me, you guys argue over trading for a goalie at the deadline, but if Osgood and Howard are both playing subpar, Holland will make a deal for a goalie if the right one is available. He went into the playoffs last year with a Rookie and a vet who was playing bad, you see how far that got them, he won't make that mistake again. SOmeone said it best in the Leighton thread, the NHL is about winning NOW, and if Lids does hang em up next year, Holland will want his best chance THIS year to win it. Confidant goalies are gonna make that happen, not the opposite. 4. Trade Hudler. ( I know I said three things, but I just couldn't resist!)
-
Hudler on as one of the 6 attackers, no wonder they couldn't tie it up.

Mama I'm Coming Home!

No, not before Jerry Piddler at least. Piddler is the worst player to put on the Winged Wheel since Miroslav Frycer. This guy is a disgrace to our team, our city, our country, North America, as well as his family, his hometown, his country, All of Europe, the whole Eastern hemisphere, the World, the solar system AND the entire Universe... seriously. Jiri Hudler stinks worse than my doberman's pile of s*** after stealing the CHRISTmas Ham! Merry Christmas everyone! (or whatever it is you celebrate) and here's to another Stanley Cup! Although, trading BOTH would free up nearly $6M in cap space, don;t know what kind of scorer we could get in return, but ya never know come trade deadline what a first round draft pick a prospect AND $6m in cap space could bring us!
-
yep! that is why whenever a thread pops up asking our opionion on which Cup was the best, 1997 is ALWAYS us old-timer's answer! I actually had tears in my eyes when Stevie raised that Cup. I was at work and didn't want to leave until the final credits rolled! God Bless Hockeytown, we have certainly been blessed with this team! You kids don't know how good you've had it!

Datsyuk out 4-5 weeks with broken bone in hand
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Oops, sorry, yes I agree. I forgot to put down to trade Hudler for that draft pick, and then find a Center to bring in. Thats why I mentioned Fedorov. But I know it'll never happen.
