    Daniel Larsson's comments on Osgood&Howard

regarding Osgood, it's obvious he isn't going to get that many more starts, but it's a guarantee Babcock will give him enough to allow him the chance of reaching that #400 everyone wants him to get to. He played well enough last week to get #399, but WTF was he doing on the OT goal? Anyhow, Larsson should bite his lip, apologize and come back to back up Howard next season, beause in a few years, McCollum will be up and then Larsson will be s*** out of luck... I do agree with all your point and personally hope Osgood does start playing 2008-2009 better. I was just going under the idea that if Osgood retired after the season, Larsson WOULD'VE been the odds favorite to be up here with Howard (you're right that is if Howard progresses and doesn't take a dump in the stretch and playoffs.) Someone should tell Larsson, that Manny is honing his skills in the German League getting ready for that call to come back and back-up Howard for a couple of season's... (at least we hope, eh Waz?)

    Flippula vs Hudler

Is this even a debate anymore? Piddler.....OUT! I know the Cap numbers would prolly be over, but if we could trade Piddler for Steve Sullivan that would be awesome! (but I doubt Nashville would do it anyway considering my recent bowel movement has higher trade value than Piddler does right now....) and to the OP, it's FILPPULA not FLIPPULA, but at least you got the two P's right! just busting ya up a bit on the obvious typo...

    Daniel Larsson's comments on Osgood&Howard

Funny thing is, if he'd keep his mouth shut for a minute and maybe look at the big picture, Osgood is more than likely going to retire after the season. Joey Mac is just a depth signing ( he won't be the back up to Howard next year) McCollum is going to be just like Howard and more than likely play HUGE minutes in GR until he has no options left, then come up, JOrdan Pearce isn't even on the top 25 list and this kid Petr Mrazek is only 18, so he isn't going to up too soon, so who would have been the odds on favorite to back up Howard (possibly compete for the starting spot) next season? If maybe he keeps his mouth shut the rest of the year and maybe even puts out a statement explaining that his comments were taken out of content, then MAYBE he will get that spot next season. Would make for a interesting AND exciting couple of season of HOT competition amongst Howard and himself, possibly ending up with us trading one of them at a deadline in the near future that would bring us something to put us over the top (again.) He needs to be on the phone to Andersson or Holland and telling them he just wants to come back next year and compete for that #2 (possibly #1) spot. (and take the foot out of his mouth) Howard/Larsson sounds like a good goalie combo to me...

    Teams of the Decade?

....ahhhh, but even though the rows in an airplane are numbered 1-12 then the next row is 14, doesn't mean you aren't actually in the 13th row, because you are!

    Teams of the Decade?

Was there even a team in 1 AD? How long until someone mentions the Mayan Calender? Their calender (at least their most important one) was a period of 260 days.... According to that, who is the team of the 4 Ahaw, 8 Kumk'u?
  6. LeftWinger

    Teams of the Decade?

That still doesn't change the outcome. Red Wings are the team of the 90's and 2000's...

    Teams of the Decade?

It's hard to objectively discuss this on a Red Wings board without sounding like a homer, but the stats don't lie. Even if you didn't count JUST the Championships, the Red Wings win the 90's and 2000's hands down. If you add in ALL the Presidents trophies, all the wins all the 19 straight playoff appearances, how many conference finals compared to everyone else, how many 100 point seasons and 50 win campaigns compared to anyone else. You could even add up the winning percentage for the two decades (go ahead math whizzes, I am not that motivated) and it just may be they have the best in those two decades. For anyone to even suggest that Pit is there in the 90's or 2000's they just need to look at their draft positions for 10-12 of those years. For my money, the top teams have got to be Detroit, New Jersey, Dallas, and Colorado, hell between 1995 and 2003 they were the only teams to win the Cup. Nobody else even comes close to these teams in the 90's or 2000's... ...and the only one team to be consistent in a POST lock-out era? Detroit... I guess you could make a case for the Pens as a post lock-out power house, but that is only because of their decade or more of being s***ty and getting top draft picks. Detroit has done it with low and sometimes VERY low drafting and being CONSISTENTLY a winner since 1991 when they had the #10 pick and haven't sniffed a top ten since... Goodie for US!

...ya, like maybe offering Ladd a contract, or trading Hudler's rights for his.
  10. LeftWinger

    How Long has Huds got?

Listen, before Hudler left for Russia, he was offered a $3.5M contract in which he turned own and went to arbitration. He ran to Russia for more money and was awarded a lessor contract with the Wings than he was offered before arbitration. Now he runs back crying and doesn't produce, he will now be gone, because Mike Ilitch has the control, NOT the player. The Fedorov comaprison? He turned down a contract from Ilitch, then later when he was offered a lessor one, he left for Anaheim. Then in 2008 when Fedorov wanted to come back via the trade deadline and even though some folks in the organization wanted him back, someone in the higer ups (possibly Ilitch) told Holland NO. Thats the only comparison. You don't spite the owner. Especially an owner with the power of Mr. Ilitch. That being explained, have a great career Hudler, hope Russia was worth it! Trade him to the Island for a 2nd rouder, which will end up a pick in the 30's...

    How Long has Huds got?

See: Leino, Kuznetsov, Fleishman, Ritola, Mattias. Ya, they don't give up on players. Bottom line, you don't produce and/or you can get us something better (Fleishman, Kuznetsov, Mattias) or cap relief (Leino, Ritola), you are out(Hudler.)
  12. LeftWinger

    How Long has Huds got?

Too Funny! He is done. "You call Detroit and you tell them bulls***! Trade me right f'ing now!" Get the third rounder for him and par ways. We'll need the cap space when Draper comes back and then we will still have room for injury call ups (Tartar.) Sorry Huds, but you made your bed when you left for Russia. Mike Ilitch doesn't like being slapped in the face and pissed on (see: Fedorov.)

    Flames Fans Blame Refs

...while officiating has sucked throughout the league, here's the real reason the Flames lost the game, watch their beloved All-Star #12, what the hell was he doing? He never even looked behind him him and didnt even try to catch Lids. ...oh and heres another reason, you have 6 seconds left and you LET Datsyuk skate right between you and fellow Flame? Trip the guy, grab the guy, punch the guy, tackle the guy, do what you have to do to stop him from gaining the zone. WHats the ref gonna do call another penalty on your team? Even if he does whoopee fricking doo, there's 6 seconds left and you have a one goal lead!!!!! How about instead of blaming other people for your shortcomings, THINK for once!!! I realize it IS Pavel Datsyuk and he is hard to handle, but instead of #18 trying to swipe at the puck, TRIP THE GUY!! There are such things as GOOD penalties!!!

    Controversy in Pittsburgh

anyway, while I agree he did the right thing pointing out the puck crossing the line, he is NOT the greatest player in the generation. (unless you're talking about his age) Pav and Z own him everytime they play the Pens. Until Crosby becomes the complete player that they are, I will take Pav and Z's 90 points and Selke Award winning numbers everyday, every week, every month of the year over Cy Young Crosby... I will give him his props for his offensive skill, but he is BY FAR NOT the greatest player... You are delusional. That being said, this is just another example of rules being changed (or made up) to benefit the teams the league wants to win. There have been MANY MANY times the refs have blown whistles AFTER the puck has gone in because of intent to blow, this went in a good second AFTER the whistle had blown only for Toronto to rule it was a goal despite the ref blowing the whistle. This wasn't even intent to blow...

    Robidas demolishes Heatley

either you don't know s***, or you are just a huge ass idiot... (considering you are living in Chicago, it is probably both) I am sure Dan Snyder's family really finds this thread title funny... poor, poor, taste. You reap what you sow my friends, laugh it up, but when something happens tragically to your family or friends, you'll have these little "jokes" to thank... You're f***ed in the head... (where's the NEG button when you need it?)

Mike Modano has been playing well

Yeah he has! (Thanks to Hudler)

    Flippula vs Hudler

Well, that another thing you have to thank Jiri for! You haven't noticed yet, but you are in the minority when it comes to Piddler, its not because of me, its because he sucks. If you would just take his wenis out of your mouth long enough you;d realize it... edit: reality is, Miller and Eaves know and do their jobs better than him and at a fraction of the cost. He isn't as good as he used to be. He made one good play today, the rest of the night he got bounced around. If the Wings were playing anyone else but the Oilers, he wouldn't have been allowed to stand unmolested behind the net long enough to even make that one good play. Sit him, we wont miss him. This team is just as good, if not a little better without him...

    Congratulations to Mule

Thank the Maker for Jiri Hudler! If he hadnt been there, Franzen wouldn't have scored.... We owe everything to Hudler!

11/11 GDT: Oilers 2 at Red Wings 6

You didn't hear? The ONLY reason our lines are doing so well now is because of him... I am sure glad he sparked our team, man I was worried about us when Babcock sat him two games in a row. Piddler really is omnipotent... He will be the ONLY reason we win the Cup this year!
  22. LeftWinger

    Flippula vs Hudler

let me guess, first you voted for the war, then you voted against it... Piddler is done. He had one promising season (if that) and has fallen off since. He stunk up Russia, he is mediocre at best now. Hell, even Miroslav Frycer had a couple good seasons... The atrocity is that Miller and Eaves have to suffer for it. Piddler should be the one sitting, the second line was great without him, the third line was great (w/Abby) without him and the fourth line with Miller/Helm/Eaves was great without him. Sure he's a nice commodity to have, but as the 13th forward, NOT a top 12 let alone a top 6. IT is my hope that Holland is having Babcock showcase him on a top line to give him more minutes, so we can hopefully get a 5th round pick instead of a 6th round when he trades him. Guarantee, if the Wings make a deal between now and trade deadline, Piddler will be gone...

Should we risk our future for an elite defenseman?

We should have risked a bit of the future (and some of the present) two years ago and tried to get the 2nd pick from Tampa to draft Hedman. Back then Piddler still had star potential, we could have tried to come up with something to wrestle that pick away. Hedman would be the NEXT Lidstrom here, unfotunately Kronwall (who was supposed to be the next Nick) won't be.

    Bettman Moving on?

I know where the NHL was going, s***sburg just won back to back titles so it was obviously going down the drain! Too bad they didn't move to Kansas City like they threatened to. The city would be much nicer if it didn't have the s*** stains name Lemeiux and Crosby in it... Extreme? Yes, but that is how much we care about Bettman and Kathy Lee. So go back and re-join your Wizard 101 buddies on your Crosby f*ck fest forum and leave the real hockey talk to the real hockey fans...
