Ya, I am sure Steve is pretty devistated... (side note, I was searching for more info and stuff and ran accross the Hawks Book, HAWKEYtown, they are so envious of us!) Anyway, again, RIP Probie!
-
Does anyone know if any of his fellow pugilists have said anything? Would be very interested to hear any words from Ty Domi or Marty McSorley...
-
What most people need to remember is that the Wings arent trying to sign him to be their offensive savior. They are interested because at this stage of his career, Modano is basically the ultimate role player. He can bring offense to a 3rd or 4th line while being solid two way, still functional on the PP, and brings leadership. He has his name on the cup. I also cant see who could be a better mentor to Helm. They are basically the same type of player and Modano may be able to teach Helm how to finish a little better.

Gordie will allow him to wear #9... Nah, but this is VERY intriguing news!
-
HEH HEH! Ya, I never heard that story, but know who you are talking about... regarding the program cover, it could've been a number of folks, Torrie Robertson, Kevin McClelland, Chris Mcrae, they were all fighters that year...
-
unfortunately, being the pricks that they are, the Hawks will probably beat us to it, like he was theirs and theirs only... I swear to God, if they do something with the #24, I will personally burn the United Center down!!! (not really, but I will be pissed!)
-
I wouldnt mind seeing #24 taken out of circulation and maybe, MAYBE, have them put a 24 sticker on their helmets for the season. Probie was one of three Red Wings that I really wished could've been part of that 1997 Cup, him, Dino & Shawn Burr... ...all the battles he fought for this team, he deserved to raise the Cup with them.
-
Um..... nope... Delvecchio...

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=326672 It's over... The Biggest Baddest Bruise Brother of ALL Time! Probie takes his final knock out... Does anyone know if this is still the record?

Sad, sad news.... He is one of the reasons I became a HUGE Wings fan. I have met him more than a few times, talked to him personally on a few occasions, despite all his problems, he was really, REALLY a nice guy. I am heartbroken today...

everyone has their wish list and some people agree and some people don't. In this very slow off season for the Wings who just look to add veteran grit and some secondary scoring have already welcomed Hudler back to add (hopefully) 30-40 goals. Big Bert should again get near or just over 20, as will Holmstrom, and Nick, well, Nick will be Nick... They need to decide on their RFA's, Helm and Abby are no doubt coming back, Miller and Eaves are questions, if Holland already offered them all contracts, what is the hold up? I am sure he did not low ball Helm or Abby, but he prolly tried to scale back on Eaves and Miller, anyway, my wish is (and this is just me) sign Modano and Aaron Ward for a combined less than $2M and spend $3M on your remaining three of the four RFA's. Are they what we need to make us the team to beat? Prolly not, but they both add veteran leadership and even at 37 years old, Ward still plays with some snarl, and Modano can net 10-20 goals along with adding some help on the power-play. It's obvious we aren't making a big UFA splash, but these two can come in here, add depth and scoring to the bottom 6 and 5-6 spot on D, and they could be the little spark we need, along with Hudler adding his scoring to put us that much closer to Stanley... on a seperate note, per TSN, I guess Kovalchuk has said no to LA. Hmmm, wonder what the offer was...
-
It is of my opinion, that until they are out of it, the Detroit Red Wings are the team to beat. But what do I know?
-
Copy that! And I even gave you the positive for that one! I was just stating we are always up against the Cap so we hear that statement all the time.
-
Well, I meantthe part about the lack of cap space, how many times have we heard that come UFA or trade dealine, but if you want to turn this into a "Leftwinger is not a real Wings fan" response then go ahead. I would expect nothing less...
-
How many times have we heard this? That being said, a million or two for Modano would rock!
-
...you may ask yourself, how did I get here?
-
If Holland signs anyone, it'll be a an aging forward and defensman for a year. Not knocking Holland, that is just his M.O. It's not like another Hossa situation is gonna drop in our laps...
-
Honestly, and this is hard for me to say, but I do believe Hudler would do very well with Modano at his center. These lines look pretty awesome, at least to start the season. Three very good scoring lines and one big shutdown line. Just have to shore up that 6th defensman spot and we'll be good to go! Modano can still fly, he can quarterback the second power play with Kronner. Come on Kenny, lets get this done, get on the phone to Mike like, at the stroke of midnite! This would be very awesome. It would be too bad for Miller or Eaves and Ritola, but nothing personal just business...
-
It wouldn't be just Win Another for Mike, but it would be Win It while eliminating Dallas in the playoffs so Mike can have the last laugh and show Dallas they are making a mistake!
-
yes, yes I do. But considering this thread is basically about Hudler and Savard, and even the OP said trade Hudler for Savard, I guess there should be no problem that I post about Hudler. ALso since I really dislike him, I naturally gravitate towards other threads that are about him, so it seems like thats all I post about. I do give him his credit and agree he will make this team better, but he is not the answer to the Stanley Cup. This team needs to get a hell of a lot better than just adding Hudler if they want to win it all again. That being said, maybe he did sleep with my wife, at least that would explain my dislike for the guy!
-
These are the same slappies that think Hudler is better than Savard or even Bobby Ryan. I don't know how many times it needs to be explained... This team is heads and tails better with Savard or Ryan on it than Hudler. Not knocking Hudler and his potential 50 plus points, but not one person can put up a legit argument that he is better than Ryan or Savard. We are just speaking of potential when we say he is expected to score 70 points, but the POTENTIAL of Ryan or Savard is superstardom...

...top line?

Ok, the reason we are ALL lucky to be Wings fans? Just go over to wikipedia and look at the all time roster, heck even if you go back to 1980 and look up to todays roster, just look at ALL the superstars and Current and Future HOF players and coachs/execs that have ever been part of this organization. Look at where they've been, where they went on to be. Coachs and GM's like Colin Campbell, Neil Smith, Jimmy D, Bryan Murray, Scotty & Holland. Three of perhaps the greatest Russians to ever grace the NHL (and Red Army) Fetisov, Larionov & Fedorov. Perhaps the best ever Swedish player in Lidstrom, but not forgetting one of the first ever Euro's to conquer a brave new world, Borje Salming. Even Looking back to Coffey, Ciccarelli, Hull, Robitaille, Murphy, Mickey Redmond (the first ever Wing to score 50 goals) Chris Chelios, Hasak, Shanahan, Yzerman, Wendel Clark, Foligno, Johnny O, Harold Snepsts, the list goes on! Even some players that came here after a super career and didn't quite work out (Federko, Hatcher, Carson) we have been graced in Hockeytown with the royalty of Hockey. There is no doubt that this team is one of, if not THE best franchise in the history of hockey. Man, all those stars, its no wonder we act spoiled sometimes, eh? I know I didn't even mention the golden age players of Howe, Abel & the gang, just the ones I have watched... What a Franchise!

Well, we are not the same team as last year, we got Hurled...er Hudler now! Speaking of Hurled, I guess the folks that gave you negs think that Hurled is better than Bobby Ryan, If we could somehow get Ryan here for Hurled, we'd be on the fast track for sure to the Cup! I don't get why so many people here think Hurled is the answer, he is not the missing piece, he may help a little, but if you're asking if the Wings would rather have Ryan or Hurled and a 1st, I think we ALL know what that answer would be, Bobby Ryan, hands down...
