wow.... didn't realize that the same year Kindl was taken 19th overall, Paul Stastny was taken 44th and Helm was a 5th rounder... anyhow, I have always thought that Kindl was a wasted first round pick, especially one that high, but hopefully he turns those rookie mistakes into something great. It's hard to live up to being a first round pick, its easy to be a 5th rounder... A bunch of folks missed out on Stastny, and the way Helm as been so far in his NHL career, he could've gone in the first round, he's doing much better than Sasha Pokulok...

...maybe he is waiting for the "C" before he produces and plays to his contracts worth? With the amount of cash he is making he should be consistantly scoring 100 points AND staying HEALTHY.
-
Just an observation. How about, should've paid China Doll Franzen less money and gave Hossa the measly $5M he wanted? Just saying, Franzen get hurt way too much. Sure he shows up well rested in the playeoffs, but where did that get us last season? I am just tired of the same guys getting hurt consistantly every season, Franzen, next Kronwall then Zetterberg... Those guys ALWAYS seem to get sidelined for a period of time EVERY season. Lets NOT trade them, but damn, stay freakin healthy for a season...
-
Also, considering all of his injuries, I know when he is in, he is really good, but remember the debate about whether we re-sign Franzen or Hossa? Well, since Franzen looks like a china doll every season, maybe we should've signed Hossa... BTW, another consistent china doll is Kronwall, look for his departure soon... Of course I hope not, but it would be par for course...
-
...seriously though, what exactly has Zetterberg done since signing his life-contract? Just an observation, but really... How embarrassing for Modo to return to Dallas with his NEW team, the one that wanted him, and nobody else show's up to play!
-
... both our goalies are bad. Osgood just old, Howard not that great. We sad it all summer, goaltending is gonna be the downfall... Defense needs to step up, but we gotta get that big save now and then, thankfully its only game 4, but I hope the goalies step it up SOON!

:puke: on the NHL Network Dallas Homer announcers...
-
I've been wrong before, but one thing I wasn't wrong about last season is Kindl sucks... Totally NOT ready for the NHL, risk waivers? Dunno, isn't anyone down there that would help... Guess we miss Rafalski more than we thought...
-
Anyone else wonder if the NHL have special rules for the Wings? What happened to eliminating hits to the head with severe penalties? First Duncan Keith elbow against Salei last week, now today's hit to the head of Franzen, WTF is going on, are we allowing hits to the head or what are we stopping them?
-
look at what? Quincey isn't tearing up the league, but if you mean because Meech was waived this year then ya, but we wouldn't have been able to fit Quincey under the cap anyhow, so they will still both be gone...
-
people still bitching about the loss of Quincey and now Ritola? Exactly how many Cups does Quincey have since he was waived? ...and how many do the Wings have since he was waived? Because of the CBA and the Cap (thanks buttman) we cannot keep every last prospect we draft. The only have three years of protection and not all of them can make the club every three years... Will Ritola become a star? Maybe, but he wasn't gonna realize that here, even if he made the club or cleared waivers. Remember all the crying about Mattias being traded? or Fleishman?(SP) Well, again, how many Cups do they have in the time frame since they were dealt? If having Eaves over Ritola gives the Wings a better chance to win the Cup (obviously Holland thinks so) then I am all for it!

Great Vids! I was hoping to see the one where Gary Galley checked Keith Primeau over the boards into the penalty box at the Joe Louis Arena back in the early 90's (before they put glass on the penalty box) edit: Neverind, here it is!
-
Crosby is such a ******! He doesn't even deserve to be in the NHL with that bulls***... His parents must be so proud!
-
They could drop the S for an N and call themselves the Kansas City Inlanders...
-
Ya because I am an obvious troll.... ....anyway, a nice nickname would also be Sticks, especially if you wanna play the fish and sauce angle. Of course sticks also being an obvious reference to the game.
-
Ya, cause we all know that it isn't anything until it's on myfacebookSpace.... :puke: When is this world going to grow up and act like adults? Anyhow, nickname ok, but I have an aunt nicknamed sauce so it'll be kinda hard hearing this and not picturing him that way.
-
If I recall, "they" have been writing off the Wings since 1995.... (or earlier)
-
DAMN! You beat me to it! But ya, seriously, take off McCrimmon! Please Mr. Holland and Mr. I, hire this guy!
-
...well again, you are hating a person. If the Bluejackets had that same "luck" that year, you'd be seeing Columbus all over the TV since they are marketing Crosby. So you're hated for him, fuels your dislike for the pens. Another user said about Pronger, same thing, you hate him so much that you would turn that hate for him into dislike for the team.
-
hands down, without a question, it has to be the Avs... someone said it earlier when they said they dont hate the pens but hate the players. That can be said about 28 other teams in the league, there are players you hate, yet there are players on that same team that you like. I think even in a pens jersey alot of folks like Staal, but in any jersey outside of a Detroit one (excuse me I just threw up in my mouth a bit) everyone would hate Crosby still. The list of players you hate goes on, but in the late 90's and earlier 2000's and even into today a bit, no matter who puts on that Avs jersey, you automatically have to hate them. That's the one team, that it doesn't matter who is wearing it, you always hate them. Joe Sakic is a very great respectable player, but you hate him. The likes of Lemieux, Roy, Deadmarsh, Ricci, Forsberg, Foote, Kamensky, Krupp, etc.... tainted that jersey so bad, that one of our own would go there, you'd hate them. For pete's sake, Ray Bourque turned into a s*** sucker when he put that jersey on. I think the feeling is mutual with them and thier fans, think about this (with the exception of Krupp (and we see how that worked out)) not one player has played for both teams. It's called the Krupp Kurse now, it's an omen for a Red Wing to wear that jersery or an Av to wear ours. No player will even try it again. Hell, Forsberg was so afraid to wear our jersey (not that we seriously wanted him) he went to Nashville instead. They haven't traded with one another, they don't do business together. I think the owners hate each other. There is no player in this league today, that if they wore the Avs jersey, I could ever, ever like. ...I can deal with the Pens, the Preds, the Ducks and the Hawks (minus certain players of course) but the Avs have to be my biggest hatred of any one team in the NHL. (I hate Crosby more, but he is not one team (even though he thinks he is.)) EDIT: and of course as soon as I finished this post, I am reminded that Salei once played for the Avs. I hope he doesn't suffer from the Krupp Kurse this season...

Well, hell, the obvious: Jimmy Carson - Red Wings Also: Bernie Federko - Wings Vincent Riendeau - Wings Lucky Luc - Pens & Rags Bernie Nicholls - Pretty Much every team after the Kings Roenick - Kings Steve Larmer - Rags Belfour - Sharks

Hmmmm, lets see, the year he won the Selke award he had 35G, 44A for 79Pts with a +/- of +28... The year he scored 155 pts he had 65G, 90A and was a +17. You're looking at a difference of 11 goals given up while was on the ice when he had his best offensive season. As a matter of fact in 1992-93 when he scored 137 points he was a +33. So to say he only turned into a great defender when he was only scoring 80 points is asinine. The difference is, players like Fedorov, Kozlov, Shanahan showed up and took a lot of scoring pressure of Yzerman. Bottom line is, when they were both in their primes, lets say the year Yzerman scored 155 and Mario scored 199 points, he was the third best player in the NHL when he was 2nd runner up to Gretzky and Lemieux for the Hart trophy. For all the offensive power Mario had he only finish his career with a +/- of +115, while Yzerman finished with a +185, never once getting a +/- higher than he did when he scored 137 points... Remember, Lemieux was drafted 1st overall and was supposed to be the offensive machine that he was, it came down to the last day of the season when Jersey lost out on getting the 1st overall pick and getting Mario. Steve Yzerman was a second thought for the Wings and was never supposed to be the offensive talent let alone Selke type player that he turned out to be. Mario lived up to his hype & expectations, Yzerman not only surpassed his, but obliterated them...

Well capgeek.com has us at + $74,623. Of course that is not counting Ritola. If Meech is traded, one or two of either Ritola/Eaves or Miller, then they should be good enough for cap space. Remember, Abdelkader can still start the season in Grand Rapids without clearing waivers. I know it has been said that he will be in Detroit this season, but when it comes to business and face it, Ken Holland is in this as a businessman, if Holland cannot clear enough space (or get what he wants in return for one of the traded guys) Justin will be sent down to Grand Rapids to help with the Cap and make the 23 man roster. Ya never know, Ritola may come in and shine, then what? Miller and Eaves better be looking behind them...

If Gordie Howe played like he did back in 1955, he would be a great signing at league minimum! An absolute steal!
