The difference is, Maltby has more hockey left in him than McCarty did in 2008. But your scenario makes a lot of sense, although, if he signs at $500,000 and gets sent down, I have a feeling that some team will snag him up for his leadership and veteran experience. On the right team, he could play a big role in the depth category. Plus like it has been stated before, do we know if Maltby will even agree to play in GRR?

Dude, ignore me all you want, I will not ignore you, I love different opinions, so you copied the term from the board, ok, I then apologize for saying you had the tendencies, I will point that towards the original author of the article. On topic, this is good news for those of us who prefer a more North American style of play, but if you look around, the Europeans that are here are mostly the superstars, so the North American's probably make up the third of fourth lines on most teams. I am fine with that, hopefully McIlrath falls to us, or Holland trades up to get him and we get that Chris Pronger type play that this team needs...

Hmmmm, lets see I joined in August 2003 and have over 3200 posts, you just joined last March and have 56 posts, now I am not calling you a troll just because you just joined, but my stats alone say that I am not a troll here, there may be a lot of folks who don't agree with my opinions, which I think is great, what kind of forum would this be if everyone held hands and sang koom-by-ya together? We love difference of opinions here, that is what makes this place so great! And if you read my post, I said I would like to see more gritty North American players, that is not saying I am against European players, Fedorov is my all time favorite player, but just because some of us don't like the players like Hudler, we are haters. I do not call the folks who prefer hudler style players North American haters, do I? Also, there is a difference between saying "You hate European's" and "You're a Euro-Hater?" Uh.... is your real name John Kerry?

Have you guys ever heard the term Strategic Default? If not, that's when you purposely stop paying payments in order to go into foreclosure ON PURPOSE to get out of your house. The reason vary, some people owe more than what the house is now worth (thanks to the government and banks) that's called an upside-down mortgage. Some folks just cannot sell their home and either cannot afford to live there anymore (I doubt this is Sergei's problem) or they have already living somewhere else and cannot sell the house(s.) (This I think is Sergei's situation) I cannot know for sure what his situation is, but if he plans to not ever come back from the KHL, he has no need for two homes over here. Even if he does plan to come back, it is not illegal to default on your loan's. The bank gives you money to purchase a house, you agree to pay them the money back plus interest, or give them back their property. That is probably what Sergei is doing, I cannot afford to live here anymore, so here is your house. Foreclosure is not illegal, it is not unethical or it is not wrong and Sergei (or anyone) should feel NO shame, or have the need for sympathy. Sergei has enough cash that if and when he comes back to the states he will have no problem buying a house that he can afford. The only negative foreclosure has is on your credit, whoopee ******* doo! You shouldn't buy anything unless you have the cash anyhow, f*** the banks and the federal reserve! I say good for you Sergei! Let them have the homes! Problem is, the banks don't want them, so in the end they will either sit empty or resell for penny's on the dollar or they will give Fedorov a hell of a deal to settle. WE CONTROL THE BANKS, THEY DON'T CONTROL US! The banks have insurance money to cover their loses, they also got the bailout, so they don't care about us, so I say f*** them! I will not be controlled! I am not Sheeple or a debt slave, the revolution will NOT be televised. Your heard the term, "hell hath no fury like a women scorned" well the People are scorned, soon hell be brought to the elitist! When it comes, which side will you be on?

So, just because there are some of us on here that would like to see some more big a gritty North American players in the league, rather than small (for the most part) and afraid of body contact (again, for the most part) players, we are hate Europeans? I think your title alone says that you have racial tendencies by calling them Euro's. I prefer white women in my life, does that mean I am a African women hater or a Asian women hater? So call me a hater because I prefer Dylan McIlrath over kirill kabanov....
-
"Dylan McIlrath is still there at #15, so Jim and I regroup and say, make the deal, trade Boston our 21st pick along with the famous future considerations and draft that kid!" -Andersson at 2010 Entry Draft. What? Oh, excuse me, good morning, I must have been dreaming!
-
Let me just say !!! Either him or try to persuade Larionov to be one! Did you watch the same season as we did?
-
Actually two way or one way doesn't really matter, he can be sent down on a one way contract, the only difference is he will be making the same money here or there. Two way means, he makes an AHL salary there and a NHL salary here. Either way, he probably wouldn't clear waivers, someone out there is looking for veteran experience and leadership, if Maltby has anything left, it's that. He knows how to win, he would bring a positive attitude to any dressing room and he is a leader on the ice. That being said, I really hope he doesn't re-sign. What's next, give Draper a two year extension? Just cut your ties now, if you really appreciate what Maltby has done for this team, save him the embarrassment of being sent to the minors, let him become a UFA July 1st and let him go play somewhere he may actually get NHL minutes, as for here, he has done all he can do, and being a 13th of 15th forward is just not worth him coming back, for HIM or the team.

Here's the issue, With Hudler coming back, Holmstrom & Bertuzzi being re-signed and all RFA's being given qualifying offers, there just isn't any room on the forwards roster for anyone else. Lets say, Helm and Abby are guarantee's (which they are) and both Miller AND Eaves re-sign, throw Ritola in there and that is 14 forwards. Someone at work today mentioned that Abby MIGHT have another year of GRR option, but I am not sure, but even still that is a full forward roster. We'd have to bet on one or both of Eaves and Miller to not accept their offers and then we'd be able to get another forward. To me, it looks like this is going to be the same Wings forwards plus Hudler, minus Maltby (although I saw a thread on here that Holland might offer Malts a contract? For what, to carry the puck bags around?) Anyhow, if everyone re-signs up front, that'll probably leave around $1.2M for a 6th defenseman (whether it be Lilja or not) then that leaves NOTHING for injury call-ups or trade deadline acquisitions... Same team, plus Hudler. I will give Hudler his 25-30 goals, but I am not so sure that he will be the missing piece to get us back the the Finals. I know Holland is going to let Lidstrom play as long as he wants to, but unfortunately we have too much money wrapped up in only a few people. Rafalski being another. Guess we will see what the off season of 2011 brings us for change, because it looks like there won't be much if any changes in 2010...

Chat with Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill at 2 p.m
LeftWinger replied to dragonballgtz's topic in General
Well, so no McIlrath..... DAMN! -
isn't it funny that everytime some mentions something about wanting to get bigger and they are kinda bored with all the small players on the Wings, they get a negative? It's like just because someone would like to see a player above 6'2" and over 210lbs. they aren't really a Wings fan. (bring on the negatives) edit: I gave you a positive to bring you back even! Plus I totally agree with you! I got two negatives just because! Too Funnyt! I didn't even say anything negative! You guys really are ****** bags!

I could be wrong, but I do believe that a 1 way contract still counts against the Cap? Maybe... I do know if someone claims him on re-entry waivers Chicago is accountable for half that cap hit for the entire contract... Either way Chicago gambled and won the battle, but are going to lose the war and there wont be a repeat next year. I believe its Ovechkin's turn to win the Cup...
-
Was he ever seriously going to make it to Detroit anyhow? There's the trade, Tollefsen plus our first rounder to Boston for the #15 pick... No? Shoot I dont know! I really dont care about him, he'd spend two more years in GRR with the ocasional call up (maybe) then move on somewhere else, may as well go now. No sweat off our backs. In hindsight, Darren Helm, Kris Versteeg, Mike Brown, Lee Stepniak, Brad Richardson, James Wisniewski, Kyle Wellwood, Travis Moen & John Michael Lyles were all 5th round picks respectively, would any of those type guys be fair trade for Leino if Holland scores in the 5th round? Draft is a gamble, but those are all good examples of 5th round picks that worked out, plus there are plenty of even later round picks in the last 10 years that would be worth trading Leino for...
-
Yes, but aren't these one way contracts? So if nobody wants to pick up their inflated salary, Chicago is still paying these guys there salaries and counting against the cap. They'd have to hope and pray someone picks them up.
-
Strange, I could've swore we were eliminated before the pens... Oh please Boston, trade down to us and give us your #15 pick! You already have #2, I am sure you'll get someone good at #21 also! We need your #15!!!! PLEASE!!!!
-
ie. Chris Osgood in 2001, nobody would offer Holland anything so he had to put him on waivers.
-
Crossing my fingers that either one of Ladd or Hjarmelsson (sp) become a Red Wing in the off season! (hey, one can hope can't I?)
-
Exacly what I was thinking! The f'ing Hawks man! Well those F'ing Hawks traded you because they realized they weren't gonna win with you! Oh and I do remember 2001, he said Detroit offered him the exact same contract but he felt Philly had the better team and better chance to win the Cup. Then he said after the 2002 finals, "Well if I knew they were gonna get Hasek, I may have made a different choice" Well, maybe if you wouldn't had agreed to a contract the night before UFA started you would've seen that we would trade for Hasek, and sign Robitaille and Hull later on. Hmmmmmmm, who had the better team again? JR, if you would've singed in Detroit, you would've finished your career in Detroit, because that is the kind of franchise we are! Why do you think your boy Chelios stayed here so long? We all remember how much he hated Detroit, he said on live tv that he'd never come here! Funny how that worked out eh? Maybe you should've took his advice afterall! You'd have 2 Cups! "It's the Blackhawks man... sniff sniff, that should be me down there! Why Why Why!?!?! Waaaaaah!" I don't feel sorry for him, except for his decision making skills... No, this was being a baby. Mike Modano crying was a moment.

after the game, Marian Hossa was complaining about his shoulder hurting while raising the Cup, doctors later explained that when Kopecky got leveled, Hossa was the one to actually feel the hit and get hurt, doctors call it sympathy pains, because when spouses go everywhere together, can't go somewhere without another, they develop a bond that actually causes one to feel the others pain, damnedest thing...
-
So, has anyone figured out the exact draft order since the finals are now over?
-
Well, that is easy to explain, this is basically another source of Hawks info because we here at LGW as well as our fans around the world, also known as The Red Wings Nation are the most Hockey knowledgeable fans in the world, so its no wonder you come here to learn stuff about your own team. You certainly aren't going to learn much about it hanging around the streets of Chicago and it's suburbs or talking with other "fans" like Jim Belushi and Vince Vaughn, who only show up to games when the team wins, where were they about 10 years ago? Same place you were I would imagine. But please, come, stay, pull up a chair, because next year when you are sans 5 of 6 of your important players, you will need to learn all you can here because odds are 3/4's of the fans that are celebrating right now wont even remember what icing is... Sure will be nice to see the like of Madden, Burish, Neimi, Ladd, Hjalmarsson & Eager amongst others playing somewhere else. Reports out of Toronto even suggesting Sharp and Versteeg may even be on the block, so you're gonna have a great team next season. But, hey, there's always the Bears, right? Hang in there, 50 years isn't that long to wait (again)
-
If you we're paying attention, you would've loved 1997 then, eh?
-
Congrats Johnathan Toews for winning the Stanley Cup! edit: So does this mean the 2012 Winter Classic game is gonna be in Chicago again?
-
Ok, :puke: , now that that is over, lets let the fun begin! When is draft day? Come on July 1st! Here's to the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings!
-
GD! I dont know who to f'ing root for! I cannot stand Kane or Quinneville or the fans of Chicago, yet I am just realized all the ****** bags that play for Philly! Pronger I can handle on his own, but Pronger, Laperierre & Hartnell? Is there any way they can just cancel the finals this season? edit: But I do like Ladd, but I dont think its enough to sway me.... ARGH!!!
