So, Philly can pretty much do what they want today..... Thats Bettman for ya...
-
WHAT!?!?! Did I just hear? Pierre Maguirre said that those were some OLD legs by Danny Cleary moving pretty fast around Pronger? 31? Old? WTF Pierre? Can you find any other way to shoot down the Wings? Face it Pierre, you sucked as a player and a coach and as an announcer you still suck....

There shoulkd be no mention of Crysby until they show the Eastern Conference standings.... Way to go Ozzie....

Lidstrom $4MM.... Please Captain, help us get stronger next year!!! Re-sign Lids, Homer, Bertuzzi, Helm, Abdelkader, Miller, Eaves. The problem is going to be what Bertuzzi is gonna ask for, Anaheim is still paying $1.333MM of his salary from 2007, does that mean he is gonna want $3MM or more? If he wants $3MM with Lidstrom (praying hopefully) takes $4MM that'll leave Holland $10MM to shore up our wanted UFA/RFA and MAYBE get some UFA help from outside the organization! Does anyone know which RFA's in GRR are out of options? We all know Abdelkader will be here for sure, but who else has to be or risk being waived? Other than Ritola? Anyhow, I do believe Holland can get Abdelkader, Helm, Miller & Eaves all re-signed for less than $4MM total. Homer should take $2MM or a little less (please Homer!) What about Lilja? Do we re-sign him or use his $1.2 elsewhere? Ledba and Meech can leave, whatever we get in return for Meech (he's a RFA) will be worth it. Not unless he re-signs for the same money. Maltby should retire also. Williams can do what he pleases, thanks for the help. So: Helm, Eaves, Abdelkader, Miller - $2.7MM Bertuzzi - $3MM Holmstrom - $2MM Lilja - $1MM Lidstrom - $4MM (PLEASE NICK!!!!!!) Ritola - $0.5MM That's $13.2MM leaving roughly $4.5MM. They'll need a 7th defensman, is Kindl ready or will they keep Meech around? My wish? Ladd or Tkachuk up front. (Tkachuk shouldn't cost too much.)

So the predz clinched a playoff spot with 98 points, does that mean if Detroit hits 98 today that they will also clinch? If not, how many point clinch a spot for them. I cannot believe they will end up with 100 points or more! Who'd a thunk it back in February!!!! I am sure gonna enjoy my crow! ps. I would still like to see Ladd and Mitchell or Tkachuk here, but meh, wish in one hand, etc....
-
And what is the Wings record with Lilja in the lineup?
-
Nah, Hossa was win it for himself, he is a Cup chaser unfortunately he is stuck in Chicago now and if they don't win it this year, they are done with their cap issues... Win it for Drake, Win it for Duschesne/Robitaille, win it for the Russians, Tkachuk pretty much has been a loyal Blue (and Jet/Coyote.) His career is closing and if he wants a Cup he serously needs to look this off season for his best chance to get one. Say what you will about Pitt and Chicago or Washington, but Detroit should be his first choice. I think he would fit well with this team...

Nah.... How many Harts did Yzerman or Lidstrom win again? Besides, Marty Broduer desered the hArt that season, they only gave Crysbythe Hart because he was the "KID" the Face of the NHL, oh yah, and Gary Buttman's teenage lover. Give me Stamkos today over Crysby ANYDAY... ZERO tolerance for baby s*** in the NHL... he needs to grow up, but he has always been pampered, never had to work for anything, so why should he? He'll be a spoiled brat his entire career, I just hope someone concusses him soon (ala Eric Lindros) so we can watch him turn into a big pile of goo...

Nice lists from everyone. It's very hard to pick since we've had so many top players on our team. 1. Lidstrom 2. Fedorov 3. Yzerman 4. Shanahan 5. Larionov 6. Datsyuk 7. Zetterberg 8. Draper 9. Holmstrom 10. Doug Brown (some folks seem to forget just how good this guy was on this team.) Honorable mention and also can be placed in the top 10, Maltby, Konstantonov and Kozlov. Cannot forget Paul Coffey, he won a Norris Trophy while playing with the Wings. Osgood, Chelios, Fetisov, Murphy, the list can go on and on. Lapointe, Hull.... Folks will argue their favorite players, either way they fill out their top 10, but no matter how you line them up, these top 5 will always be the top 5. Whether they fall in my order or a whole other order, you cannot argue with these top 5....
-
yes, so did Hossa, but typical Holland will give Lidstrom all the time he wants to decide and then lose out on all the good UFA's including our own and then give Lidstrom $7MM and waste what little cap space we'll have after that on Jason Williams, Haken Puken and Finneas Ferb. BTW, :puke: on Hudler coming back, use that $3MM somewhere else... I'd rather have Tkachuk here for a little veteran motivation to "win it for him..."

Hmmmmmm, funny, Crysby is the face of the NHL he has 47 goals and 94 points. Steve Stamkos is NOT the face of the NHL, he has 45 goals and 86 points. Both very impressive. Pretty close in comparison and importance to their teams. Here's the difference: Go to YouTube.com and type in the words Stamkos Dive and see the vids that pop up. Now do the same for Cindy, type Crosby Dive.... yep, I would definitely rather have Stamkos than Cathy Lee Crysby... and he is the kind of guy that should be the face of the NHL.

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?
LeftWinger replied to wmubronco420's topic in General
ya, well, just look at the Lightning. In 2004, they only sold out during the finals and even after they won the Cup that year, the following season attendance was back to the normal non sellouts. Hockey doesn't belong in Phoenix or Florida. It barely belongs in Texas or Southern California! -
Nope, if Detroit wins and LA wins we go to 1 point behind Nashville and LA remains 1 point behind us. Want to play Nashville on Saturday with the chance to overtake them.
-
....patiently preparing his crow stew! Smells good, cannot wait to eat it!
-
Well, if he wants to be GM Holland better step aside into only having one title instead of two and make Yzerman GM, if they want to keep him in the organization. If not, he'll leave....
-
its obvious the refs have been told to look the other way when it comes to marginal infractions by the preds. call all on Detroit. If we lose this game, it'll be on a bullsquat call or non-call... I hate the NHL sometimes...

does anyone know if DirecTV got rid of FSD+? I can only find FSD HD on channel 664 (which used to be FSD +) Sorry if this in the wrong place. Thanks! I will add that the reason I ask is the other day when the CCHA Championship was on FSD, the Wings game started on FSD+ then migrated over to FSD when the CCHA was over. Usually channel 664 is FSD+, but when I switched up to 664, it said FSDHD and the guide said CCHA Championship also it said I didn't have this channel and to call blah blah to order. I couldn't find FSD+ anywhere and with a Wings game coming up soon on FSD+, I was hoping that I just couldn't find as opposed to DirecTV getting rid of it.

you guys didn't hear? In the next CBA it will announced that Sidney Crosby will be Captain of the NHL. and since nobody can hold his jock, there will be no Alternate Captains. They have embedded a chip inside of him that allows him to be contacted at anytime during the day to discuss plays and watch replays to help officials make the correct calls.
-
wouldn't the wings be looking to add scoring? I think Tkachuk would outscore any of the guys you two mentioned.... just my opinion...
-
Going with the theme of getting a veteren who hasn't won it yet, what do you guys think of offering Keith Tkachuk a contract next season? He's only at $2.55M this year, so maybe give him $3MM to come here for a year? As long as Lidstrom cooperates with his salary, we could get him for $3MM and still sign another solid forward....
-
I am going to have to go with the aves because if they win that'll keep both them and LA no more than 3 point ahead of us. I know that the aves are only 1 point ahead, but if LA wins they'll move to 4 points ahead. Either way, I guess it doesn't matter. Can we go back to each getting only 1 point for a tie? that would work out if nobody got the extra point eh?

I do respect Carmen tho in that he not the typical Red Wings slappy that 95% of the users on here are. I have no problem showing my dislike for many former and current Wings and no matter what people tell me, will never change my opinion. I despise crysby, that is the only difference between him and someone like, McCarty or Hudler. I cannot stand either of those guys either, but not to the extent of cindy. And for the record, my vote goes to Fedorov over Yzerman when it comes to who was a better player for the Wings. Not taking anything away from YZerman as a player or a captain, but for my money, Fedorov was better. crysby still sucks compared to Zetterberg tho!
-
Ovie is not my boy. Never said he was. I never even mentioned him in this thread. I am not saying cindy's cross check was as bad as Bert's attack. But even the attack was not meant to break his neck, it was meant to send a message and get revenge, the result was an unfortunate result. I am just saying crysby's cross check was just that, a message and a revenge move, that could've, if caught in the right way, result in a unfortunate result. What if Zetterberg had turned around at the exact time and crysbys ended up cross checking z's nose or something. BE THE PROFESSIONAL AND FACE OF THE NHL YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. It is nice tho that time and time again Zetterberg proves who is the better player... BTW if Bertuzzi hadn't fallen on top of Moore, his neck wouldn't have been broken. So that little what if was the difference between getting knocked out and what actually resulted. One day cindy will do something in one of his tantrums and it WILL result in a "INCIDENT" and then what? ANd so will Ovie...
-
ya, well, if you remember, Bertuzzi didnt set out to break moore's neck, it was an unfortunate result of a competive frustrated and upset player. What if the cross check to the back of Zetterberg somehoe inflicted whiplash or somehow, caught Z in the right spot and broke his vertibrae somehow. You have to be resposible, compete, get frustrated, winor lose doesn't mean you can whack someone in the back of the head with your stick. You call it candy-cane, I call it typical cindy when he gets embarassed. Nice that cindy was -2, which means he was on the ice for all 3 Wings goals! Awesome player he is!
-
the difference is, crysby is the face of the nhl, he should act like it. quoting Ben Parker, "with great power comes great responsibility..." cindy has proven time and time again that he is a whiney little spoiled brat. Ya, thanks gordie, sure everyone loses their cool, if you remember that entire game, their was a lot of coolness lost the entire game between both of the teams. What I found comical about that video is the announcers were such homers, "Detroit has set hockey back 30 years here tonight..." that was hilarious! Little did he know what Detroit would do from that season on compared to how many Cups for the Bruins? Ya, ok... The one other thing I learned from that video is I wish that was cindy lying on the ice instead of Lazzaro...
