Hudler and Dynamo Moscow out in first round of playoffs

Well, that wouldn't be the first time Holland gaffed up by offering then taking it away later, thus pissing off the player.... see: Fedorov -
Hudler and Dynamo Moscow out in first round of playoffs
LeftWinger replied to CenterIce's topic in General
The problem with what Hudler did, was he handcuffed Ken Holland by NOT accepting the $3.whatever Million and opted for arbitration all but causing Hossa to go to the Hawks. As rumor had it, Hossa would've re-signed here for the rest of his career for a little more than $4MM per season cap hit. The fact that Holland was forced by Hudler to wait and wait pretty much was the only reason Hossa is not a Red Wing right now. And something tells me that if he was a Red Wing right now, they wouldn't be battling for the 8th playoff spot... Thanks Hudler, I am glad you were eliminated and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, don't ever come back! -
Yes....They are, and if it were Crosby or Malkin, the NHL would rescind the Game Misconduct so neither would have to be suspended at all...
-
Release him and still have his $1.4M count against the cap? That would be pointless... Osgood will be the backup net season, play occasionally and get his 400 wins and then quietly retire a Red Wing (which he earned) and as possibly the BEST Goalie to ever play in Detroit (at least stat-wise.)
-
I think with all the injuries we did have this year, the guys on the cusp of making this team had every opportunity to showcase their talents this year with the Wings. Kindl, Ritola, etc... didn't make a good enough impression to make this club during the injuries, so what makes you think they will be worth the chance next season? For the money, I think Miller deserves to be re-signed before Ritola gets the call up.

How many players from Team USA would have made Team Canada?
LeftWinger replied to GONGSHOW HOCKEY's topic in General
Thats it? Seems to me Canada lost to and then barely beat USA, so I would say the USA had a team that was just as good if not better than the Canadian team. OH Gee, you give Miller the third string? he outplayed both Luongo and Broduer throughout the tourney. God I wish these cocky ass Canadians would stop with the holier than thou attitude already! One lucky bounce between a gold and a silver. Thats it. It wasn't a totally dominate Canadian over an inferior USA team, it was one lucky bounce. Get over yourselves.... 1952... -
Thanks for calling me an idiot. What are your suggestions for next year to make this team a top 5 team again? And please don't mention anything about Hudler :puke: coming back...
-
Gee, I'm sorry, nevermind. There should be NO changes next year, lets give Lidstrom $10M, lets give Bertuzzi $2M, lets give Williams $2M, lets give Holmstrom $2M, Helm and the rest of the FA's can battle it out for the remaining money.... All Hail This Years Detroit Red Wings! The BEST roster ever assembled! Stanley Cup, the next 5 years in a row! Too much Lidstrom love here! The guy needs to step up and take a HUGE paycut if he wants to win again. Whats the use of him coming back if he's gonna suck up 3/4's of the available cap room? Why come back and just lose again and not make the payoffs? (again)
-
Ya give up $5MM US Non-Taxed, for $2.3 US TAXED.... Thats a hoot!
-
agreed! Too bad we had so much hope for him last year! We should've package Him, Hudler's rights & our first and second round pick for Tampa's 2nd overall and got Hedman....
-
Well that reply added alot to the conversation... We aren't winning with this team, period. If Bertuzzi wants more, he is free go elsewhere, that is why it is called UNRESTRICTED. Holmstrom needs to take a HUGE paycut if he wants to re-sign, or take a hike. Eaves would be the same pay as this year, Helm will get a raise, Miller would get a raise, Abdelkader will get a raise. Lidstrom needs to sign for no more than $4MM or Holland will not be able to improve this team. The Wings are more than one player away from being a contender again. They need to take to $16MM they have available and get multiple players for it. Mitchell is at $3.5M right now, will he get offers for more than $4.5? Probably, but you never know. Chicago is ALREADY over the cap for next year and unless they can unload Huet or Campbell, they stand to lose Ladd, Eager, Fraser, Hendry, Hjalmarsson & Niemi who are ALL RFA's and need to be signed or lose them...
-
We need to add Andrew Ladd & Willie Mitchell and that is what will make this team better next year. IF we re-sign ANY of the old timers, it needs to be for $500,000 or they can leave. The exception be Lidstrom, but he does need to sign for LESS than $4,000,000. If he wants to play one more season, he knows, he cannot handcuff the Wings from getting a couple of players to make this team better. Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, Maltby, Eaves, etc all making $500,000 and LIdstrom making $3M would allow that. I say bye bye, Lilja, Maltby, Williams, Meech AND Lebda... The guys who should get the raises are Helm & Miller. Abdelkader will get a slight raise, but nothing of significance. Bertuzzi ($500,000) Holmstrom ($500,000) Eaves ($500,000) Helm ($750,000) Miller ($650,000) Abdelkder ($950,000) Lidstrom ($3,000,000) Thats $6,850,000 in salary and that would leave Holland just over $10,000,000 to improve this team. (Ladd & Mitchell would be a GREAT start!) Although I know Bertuzzi is not going to accept $500,000, but if he doesn't want to build a winner here, then adios!

"Crosby IS God!" Because EVERYTHING that is the NHL IS Crosby, odds are when this play happened, the NBC crew was mentioning Crosby in some form.... He IS God you know....
-
maybe this trade deadline will be more interesting than we think?
-
Somebody ought to write Mike Ilitch and get a million signatures and tell him that we are sick of this garbage... IT's obvious that the Wings are under a much stronger microscope than the redt of the teams and we as money paying fans are not going to put up with it anymore! He either calls the NHL out (get his measly fine) or we stop watchng and going to games. This NHL is a joke and it's also fricking ridiculous!
-
Politics.... You wonder when (or if) Ilitch is gonna say something. For as much money as Ilitch has brought to the NHL since he's become an owener, you would think he would get some respect from Buttman. Maybe he is in on the conspiracy... maybe they all are... GOD DAMN IT MIKE SAY SOMETHING!!!

isn't it funny how stats don't mean s*** unless it pertains to the player you are pining for? Why was Vladdy one of the best defensmen in 1996? Points? No he was a +60, which led the league, that is why he was considered one of the best the short time he was playing, because of his defensive play. I'll take a team full of Staal's with one Ovechkin and win tons more Cups than your Crysby team.... BTW, you get the f*** out of here.... lets see Crysby play ANYWHERE near the game Ovechkin plays, Crysby would hit anyone with his tampon, and if he did, he would cry about being one who falls...
-
I am glad to have amused you. Staal is a +16, Crysby a +9. Crysby has 42 goals, Staal 16, with 42 goals if you were a great two-way player, you have a much better +/- than only +9. The last time Yzerman was near 42 was in 2000 with 35 goals and finish with a +28. In direct comparison, Ovechkin has 42 goals and is a +43! I think it's obvious who is a one way player and who is a two-way player. For $4MM, Jordan Staal is MUCH better than Crysby at $9MM, for the money, a team full of Staal type players would be more successful than a team full of Crysby type players... But go ahead, laugh out loud. You can have you 42 goals while giving up 33, I'll take 16 goals while giving up 0... edit: Not to mention out own Datsyuk, who last year had 32 and was a +34 and as that argument will forever go on here, a team full of Datsyuk destroys a team for of Crysby's... two-way ALWAYS beats ONE-WAY
-
WTF? Yzerman was NEVER touted to be the next greatest thing to save hockey, EVER. He was a after thought draft pick when LaFontaine was taken by the Islanders. If he was supposed to be the next Gretzky, he would've gone first overall instead of Brian Lawton. Crysby has played in a post lock-out, no obstruction era of Hockey, along with some pretty great talent on his team. Who did Yzerman have on his team when he was scoring 60 goals? Exactly! Gerard Gallant was the next best player. Plus Yzerman played in whole different NHL along with the two greatest players to ever play the game in Gretzky and Lemeiux. Even while being "Number 3 With A Bullet" (that's for those of you who remember the SI article) he was NEVER touted to be anything better than #3. The first time you ever heard "The Next One" is when Eric Lindros was drafted. Then you heard, Fedorov, the Russian Greatzky, Selanne, the Finnish Gretzky, etc, etc... Took how many years for Yzerman to mature? Yzerman was tearing up the league until his neck injury in 1994 (the year Fedorov won Hart and Selke) and was nearly traded to Ottawa in that off season by Bowman. Bowman took him aside after Ilitch nixt that trade and told him you have one more chance to play my way or its the highway, that is when he became a Selke-Type player. You said you didn't have respect for him when he debuted, but at the time, there wasn't much respect for the Wings all-together. You look at their number 1 picks for the previous few years and couple that along with their continuous ineptness, there was no reason to think another high draft pick was going to change that. But, me being old enough to remember Steve when he first played here, he may not have scored over 100 points as a rookie (although 87 wasn't too bad for that era) GURANTEE he didn't dive, whine and cray as much as the Golden Boy did in his first couple of season's. Comparing Crysby to Yzerman is like comparing Gretzky to Howe, two different types of NHL, I would LOVE to see a 22 year old Gretzky, Lemeiux or Yzerman in today's NHL, you be saying Crysby who? If and when Crysby passes Yzerman in points and awards and Stanley Cups, then MAYBE we can talk about comparisons, but still put Crysby in the league circa 1988 and he isn't half the player he is in todays NHL.
-
No Jordan Staal, because he is a better two-way player, actually hits, doesn't whine or cry, and was one of the ONLY Penguins that I enjoyed watching last Finals. Oh BTW, he and Hossa were the only Pens to not complain about obstruction in 2008 as well... Crysby may be the poster boy for that team, but Malkin and Staal are the work horses behind it. Much like Obama, poster boy, but doesn't run crap, there are far smarter minds behind running the free world...
-
The question was, did Crysby's game winning goal all of a sudden earn my respect for him as a player. NO, Hell NO... First of all he did not LEAD a team to the Stanley Cup, if anyone (other than Bettman) did, Malkin did. He was virtually non-exsistant in that game and most of the tourney and was in the right place and the right time to score the game winner. Nothing he did in that tourney made me change my mind about him, he still is too big of a prissy, crybaby, diving idiot to earn my respect. Until he changes that in his game, then he gets none from me. And oh, wiping his nose then shaking hands with the USA in the first game, thats VERY respectable.... He's a ****** whom Canada should be ashamed of. Cannot wait until the amateurs get back into this tourney.....
-
Ya, invisible the entire tourney and he is in the right place at the right time!!! That's like saying McCarty was all-world for his goal against Philly waaaaay back in 1997... He'll earn my respect when you stops diving, whining, crying, bitching, moaning, smacking his lips when he interviews and actually outplays REAL stars in the NHL. I would Choose Malkin or Staal ocver him ANYDAY!

Three of Four Officials for USA/Canada Game From Canada
LeftWinger replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Not to mention that the player he grew up loving that made him a Wings fan (Steve Yzerman) also is an American Citizen. Geez, how's that feel? Stevie obviously would rather be an American, now what are you gonna do puckbags? -
Three of Four Officials for USA/Canada Game From Canada
LeftWinger replied to CenterIce's topic in General
ok, lets live in the now. How many Gold medals in Olympic Hockey do you have prior to the NHL players participating since 1952? Hmmmmm, ZERO, if you count the NHL players in 2002, you still only have 1 compared to 2 USA Golds. Speaking of many moons ago, when's the last time a Canadian Team won the Stanley Cup? Ouch! Dude, you sound dumb. I don't care who wins tomorrow because it'll be just the same as the Eastern Conference beating the Western Conference. The FINAL is an NHL All Star game, no different. With the exception of a couple of teams in this tourney, it's all been an NHL all star tourney. The Olympics need to be the best AMATEUR players in the world, not paid professionals. Go USA, because I am American, but Gold, Silver or Bronze, it's about consistency. You got 13 Golds, but how many 4th place or worse do you have? Oh, BTW, 1993 is the last time a Canadian team won the Cup, so just in case you weren't born then either (and it sounds that way from your posts) I thought maybe I'd fill ya in... Enjoy the All Star game tomorrow, I got better things to do.
