and who said the Canadians folks weren't cocky and full of themselves? Last I checked the medal count was untouchable. I don't care how many Golds you have, it's about consistency across the board. I agree, Olympic Hockey was cool, but the Gold Medal game is nothing but an NHL All-Star game... ...proposed NEW Olympic rule, if you get paid to play a sport, you cannot participate in the Olympics. Lets send our College kids and Canada can send their College/Juniors and even the Euro-Teams have to send kids that don't get a salary playing hockey. This All star crap is fun to watch, but it really water's down the meaning of the Olympics. There are plenty of European players out there who aren't yet pros that they can suit up for Team Russia/Sweden/Slovakia/etc.... etc.... This NHL all-star tourney has to end....

The way Canada has played they will need the upset to beat Russia. Who did they beat? Norway and German by large margins. Barely beat Swiss and lost to USA. So the Canadians can beat the snot out of tier B teams, but barely beat and lose to the better teams. Canadian fans are in for a rude awakening against the Russians. Ovechkin is going to destroy Crysby tonight. Malkin is going to prove who the REAL star is in Pitt....

You obviously didnt see the goal then. It was possibly one of the most amazing efforts and goal on an empty net of all time. If Cathy Lee Crysby would've given an half that effort, maybe Canada wouldn't be facing elimination tonight, then if they do advance have to face the Russian Team. What part of your response has anything to do with what I said? We only have around $16MM available next season without Lidstrom, if he gets top dollar he will handcuff the Wings by taking up most of thier money, thus hindering them from changing this team. You cannot tell me you want to see this exact same team next season... I never said Lidstrom sucks or isnt playing like a top 5 d-man OR the best in the world.... Hmmmmm.....

Well, Gary gave them the Cup. I do agree with the OP that it isn't time to press the button, but it is armed. The Cup right now, I believe, is a pipe dream for the Wings, I do hope they make the playoffs and you know that anything can happen once you get there. But if they don't add someone by the deadline, the playoffs are just gonna get further and further from their grasp...

this is the exact reason Kronwall should've have been dealt on draft day to try to move up. Kronwall is a china doll, always has been, so he had one year where he remained healthy. Every other one of his 6 seasons he has been hurt in some way. There is no "Nick jr." Lidstrom is one of a kind and they broke the mold when they made him. Kronwall will NEVER be anywhere near what he is being talked about, you want to free up salary, trade this guy and free up the $3M you will need to aquire someone at the deadline. We'll have to give Ericsson some more time to show his face beciase he is still a rookie. All this talk about trading a defenseman, well Lebda, Meech AND Kronwall should all be dealt. I am tired of this china doll. Holmstrom needs to retire too, if he cannot stay healthy anymore, hang em up.
