someone said the rivalry is more fierce than 30 months ago. But THIS rivalry is not the rivalry he talked about. His rivalry is over. IF Detroit and Chicago are his two top choices, you'd have to believe Chicago would be his first choice (if he still thinks it would upset the fans because of the rivalry.) BUT, once again, you have to look at who plays for Detroit, some of the most respected Swedes in the game. IF he came here, he would be in the most exclusive Swedish Clubhouse in the NHL, he would definately feel welcome and comfortable, but we dont have much cap space (after our injuries are back) so how much could Detroit offer him? Not unless they make a dealine deal for some picks just to unload some salary... as always, if he stays healthy and signs for cheap, then sure I'd welcome him here, who knows tho!

There is only one reason why Prospal didn't come here (and Fedorov for that matter at the 2008 trade deadline) and its the same reason Shanahan left and Yzerman retired a year earlier than he wanted to..... Mike Babcock....

Yep, there were plenty of "they should've stayed for less money" or "he sucks now anyway" or "I never liked him to begin with" or "He is lazy and fat" or "He was past his prime when he came here, who needs him anyway." Of course noe more than Fedorov, followed by Hossa then Hudler, but ya, to some extent, folks were jumping on Schneider, Bertuzzi AND Lapointe for going somewhere for more money... Basically, a lot of fans think that if you DON'T re-sign with Detroit, or accept half of what you're worth in the league, then you always sucked or you choked in the playoffs and we don't need you anyhow. Or Heaven forbid accept the same exact contract with another team! (Fedorov)

More good than bad, but folks just dont seem to agree with players who leave Detroit for ANY reason, they think that EVERYONE should want to be a Red Wing and Heaen forbid you leave for personal or business reasons, then you are a backstabbing turncoat... (Fedorov, Hudler, Hossa, Bertuzzi (the frst time,) Schneider, LaPointe, Shanahan, Hull, Robitaille just to name a few who fell out of favor with the LGW'ers.)
