pretty much just like 2001 with Osgood, the Wings' hands are tied with Howard and the other 29 teams know this, so there will be no offers for him they would just wait to claim him off of the waiver wire. Obviously the rest of the league has very little confidence also or there would be trade offers for him from a team way down the waiver list. He isnt held too highly in the NHL, so no team is gonna get into a bidding war with another for him, he just isn't that well regarded in the NHL. (seems the fans aren't the only one curious as to why it took him so many years to make the NHL and only then by being out of options.) You are right though in your assumption that Holland has to have a little bit of confidence in him or he would already be waived regardless of losing him. Here's to hoping Holland is right!
-
Ya, and probably his salary expectations were a little higher too. G.D. you Hudler, I hope you rot in Russia! Why dont look up your old buddy Butsyev and hang out with him?!?!? I still think Bert/Moen/Malhotra are leaps and bunds better than Bert/Williams/Eaves.
-
I agree, nobody thought we could win in 08 either. BUT, with finding out what Malhotra signed for in San Jose, I think (as I mentioned in the Malhotra thread) for the money spent, I believe our chances would be even greater if we had spent the roughly $4M on Bertuzzi, Moen & Malhotra as opposed to Bertuzzi, Williams & Eaves. The difference is $200,000, Holland spent $3.5M on the UFA's he singed, it would have been $3.7M opting for Moen & Malhotra...
-
Malhotra for $700,000? Nah! I'd much rather have Jason Williams for $1.5 million! Serioulsy, I had heard (maybe in here) that Malhotra's camp contacted Holland prior to the whole Hudler fiasco and Holland wasn't interested. I wonder what Manny's terms were back then because I would think that $700,000 for a year is exactly the kind of contract Holland would like. Not saying anything bad about Holland, or not insuiating ANYTHING else, but Malhotra & Moen at $2.2M is a helluva ton better on ice than Williams and Eaves at $2.0M. Added Bertuzzi, I would think a lineup with Bertuzzi - Moen - Malhotra would be a little harder to play against than Bertuzzi - Williams - Eaves... I'm just saying...

because haven't you heard? Howard wears a Winged Wheel now so everyone HAS to like him and tout him as the next one to take us to the Cup! All Hail anyone who wears a Wings sweater! They must be Gods of Hockey! (well except of Crosby, he's THE God of Hockey, right Bylsma?)
-
Howard can not, and has never been able to control his rebounds. He can't even keep the puck in his glove when he makes a glove save. Sure, give him a chance, but with his inconsistancies and horrid, absolute horib puck control, he won't last too long in most games that he starts. Oh, those two goals that were redirects? Oh yeah, they were second shots off of rebounds! Hey snazzy, why dont you step in front of me when I pull the trigger? Because God knows if everyone doesn't worship ANYONE who dons the Winged Wheel, they are bandwagon, poor excuse of a human being and a pathetic excuse of a Wings fan right? Oh yeah, I forgot uninformed and should just end their lives right this second, because heaven forbid someone have a negative opinion of a Red Wing... Here's some news Snazzy, et al. Just because someone wears the Red Wings Sweater doesn't make them the bestest most awesomest player to ever play. I think rose color glasses are a stretch for you, you went right for the Scott Summers brand...

I know, it is pre-season for me too! I am just practicing and seeing who will replace Hudler on my crap list this year....
-
Jason Williams: Un.Im.Pressive. Hope he pans out, because Travis Moen @ $1.5M looks better than Williams @ $1.5M, I dont care that Williams is only 1 year either. Moen is worth 3 years.

Dont u mean Cirgei? Or that Greek Russian Tsergei Fedaroff...

Ya, Hey Todd how do you like being back in Detroit? "I like It" Hey what about Calgary? And Calgary? And the Flames? And Iginlia? How's Calgary? Bouwmeester? Jerome? FLames? Calgary? Money? FLames? Kipper? Keenan? Flames? Calgary? Flames? Calgary? Well that concludes our interview with the newest and once again Detroit Red Wings forward, Todd Bertuzzi. Good luck to the Calgary Flames... Todd, anything else you may want to add about the Flames? What about Jerome? Calgary? Calgary? Ok, good luck in Calgary...

Heatley traded to Sharks for Michalek, Cheecho, 2nd Round Pick
LeftWinger replied to HELLDOGSbmx's topic in General
Sens win. I would love to have Michalek and Cheechoo, and Ooooh what fun Holland would have with that 2nd rounder! Trade the Sens Hudler for them! Call it now, Detroit vs. Ottawa Stanley Cup 2010! -
of course he did, now that he is signed for 100 years, he'll play like Grigorenko! This is just great!

Ken Hitchcock wants to make the Wings "Bleed"
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Well after 19 years of pretty much being the best NHL Franchise. Most 100 point season, most President Trophies, most playoff appearances, oh and yeah, MOST STANLEY CUPS. I think there are 28 other teams in the league, not named Columbus, who are tired of seeing the Wings on top, its not like nobody has made us bleed before (Colorado, New Jersey, Los Angeles, San Joe, Anaheim) bleed we do, die NEVER! ...ahhhhh, life is good! It's hard to be humble, when you're so good! -
seems this part of the quote was left out: "also failed to throw a body check, lost numerus battles in the corner and a few more in front of the net..." Dear Jiri. so glad you left, can you please stay in Russia forever? Thanks...

trading lebda and meech barely clears enough cap if Lilja is healthy, it only leave us $160,000 and only 6 defensmen on the roster. Not anywhere near enough for a call up for when one of our D gets hurt. This is a bad situation we're in and unfortunately its gonna cost us. Lilja (if healthy) is the one probably going to be traded along with lebda or meech. If Lebda and Lilja get traded or waived, it frees up nealry $1M for call-ups both at the forwardand defensive positions for injuries, plus like has been iluded to, Meech can play forward in a pinch. Messy, Messy, Messy....

In 2001 when the WIngs losts to the Kings, the Wings scored 9 goals the first two games then only scored 8 the next 4 all of which were one goal losses with 2 of those coming in OT. If you call that Osgood blowing a series, then what did the offense do? Lidstrom lead the team with 8 points, Kozlov lead the team with 4 goals (everone else had 2 or less) and Yzmeran only played in 1 game that playoff year.
-
:puke: The Wings aren't signing anyone for netminder. They have Osgood and Howard. 'Nuff said...
-
I guess anything is possible, but can he score 40 or 50 on this team? Hossa only scored 40. It is entirely possible, but, ideally I like to see him get 25-30 and get his first Cup and the re-sign for about $3MM per season. If he scores 60, whther or not he gets his Cup, he will get very good money somehwere else....

Along with everything else! December 21st, 2012, will you be ready?

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler
LeftWinger replied to PRStoetzer's topic in General
Stuart is MORE important to this team than Hudler will EVER be! Put the nail in the coffin, Hudler in a WIngs sweater is the WORST idea EVER! If this makes it to where he has no choice but the play of us, then we are doomed! Williams, Eaves & Bertuzzi = MUCH better than Hudler! Trade him right f*cking now! You tell Detroit I say BullSh!t! -
It is this idoit who thinks just because someone wears the Wheel, and apparently just because they are his/her favorite player that if someone dislikes that player they aren't really a Wings fan... Let me guess, you also voted for the war, then voted against it...
-
I dunno.... Looks like you said that they would not have won a single Cup without him..... Whether or not a case can be made. I would expect 4 Cups without him, just as much as with him. He wasn't that big of factor...
-
not at all what I am implying. I am implying the fact, and you are a perfect example, just because you do not like Bertuzzi, doesn't make you a NON Wings fan. When I expressed my dislike for McCarty, I was told if I didn't like McCarty then I must not be a real Wings fan. My reference to the Cup was that even though MCCarty was part of all 4 Cups, I still don't have to like him, but that doesn't make me a Non Wings fan. According to most people on here that don't like Bertuzzi, its okay not to like him and be a fan of the team still. Double-Standard, just because McCarty was a fan favorite and Bertuzzi, for the most part, isn't. My entire point is, just because I don't like an individual player from the Wings, why does that NOT make me a Wings fan? It was stupid for that user to say. So according to him/her if ANY player puts on the Winged Wheel, I MUST like them or not be a Wings fan...

for this I am gonna have to go back to the 1989-90 season and have the AWESOME line of: McKegney - Federko - Shank Dean Morton - Chris Kostopolous Chevy
