seems this part of the quote was left out: "also failed to throw a body check, lost numerus battles in the corner and a few more in front of the net..." Dear Jiri. so glad you left, can you please stay in Russia forever? Thanks...

trading lebda and meech barely clears enough cap if Lilja is healthy, it only leave us $160,000 and only 6 defensmen on the roster. Not anywhere near enough for a call up for when one of our D gets hurt. This is a bad situation we're in and unfortunately its gonna cost us. Lilja (if healthy) is the one probably going to be traded along with lebda or meech. If Lebda and Lilja get traded or waived, it frees up nealry $1M for call-ups both at the forwardand defensive positions for injuries, plus like has been iluded to, Meech can play forward in a pinch. Messy, Messy, Messy....

In 2001 when the WIngs losts to the Kings, the Wings scored 9 goals the first two games then only scored 8 the next 4 all of which were one goal losses with 2 of those coming in OT. If you call that Osgood blowing a series, then what did the offense do? Lidstrom lead the team with 8 points, Kozlov lead the team with 4 goals (everone else had 2 or less) and Yzmeran only played in 1 game that playoff year.

:puke: The Wings aren't signing anyone for netminder. They have Osgood and Howard. 'Nuff said...

I guess anything is possible, but can he score 40 or 50 on this team? Hossa only scored 40. It is entirely possible, but, ideally I like to see him get 25-30 and get his first Cup and the re-sign for about $3MM per season. If he scores 60, whther or not he gets his Cup, he will get very good money somehwere else....

Along with everything else! December 21st, 2012, will you be ready?

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler
LeftWinger replied to PRStoetzer's topic in General
Stuart is MORE important to this team than Hudler will EVER be! Put the nail in the coffin, Hudler in a WIngs sweater is the WORST idea EVER! If this makes it to where he has no choice but the play of us, then we are doomed! Williams, Eaves & Bertuzzi = MUCH better than Hudler! Trade him right f*cking now! You tell Detroit I say BullSh!t! -
It is this idoit who thinks just because someone wears the Wheel, and apparently just because they are his/her favorite player that if someone dislikes that player they aren't really a Wings fan... Let me guess, you also voted for the war, then voted against it...
-
I dunno.... Looks like you said that they would not have won a single Cup without him..... Whether or not a case can be made. I would expect 4 Cups without him, just as much as with him. He wasn't that big of factor...
-
not at all what I am implying. I am implying the fact, and you are a perfect example, just because you do not like Bertuzzi, doesn't make you a NON Wings fan. When I expressed my dislike for McCarty, I was told if I didn't like McCarty then I must not be a real Wings fan. My reference to the Cup was that even though MCCarty was part of all 4 Cups, I still don't have to like him, but that doesn't make me a Non Wings fan. According to most people on here that don't like Bertuzzi, its okay not to like him and be a fan of the team still. Double-Standard, just because McCarty was a fan favorite and Bertuzzi, for the most part, isn't. My entire point is, just because I don't like an individual player from the Wings, why does that NOT make me a Wings fan? It was stupid for that user to say. So according to him/her if ANY player puts on the Winged Wheel, I MUST like them or not be a Wings fan...
-
for this I am gonna have to go back to the 1989-90 season and have the AWESOME line of: McKegney - Federko - Shank Dean Morton - Chris Kostopolous Chevy
-
Amen! I agree whole-heartedly! But for someone to say I must not be real Wings fan because I don't like a particular player that has played for them is both stupid and asinine! How many folks on the board can't stand Bertuzzi? But I can guarantee they will be cheering when the Wings hoist the 2010 Cup won't they?
-
Yeah, he was better than Luc Robitaille, Doug Brown, Dino Ciccarelli, Slava Kozlov or Holmstrom to name a few... Man there is WAAAY too much McCarty man love on here! If we are going with recent players, lets say 1990 and higher the best line combo would be: Fedorov - Yzerman - Shanahan Konstantinov - Lidstrom Hasek But, hands down, the best REAL line combo has got to be the Russian 5. Period.
-
you see how well that worked.... Abby is already getting kicked out of bars and drunking it up! Thanks for all the positive influence Mac!

OMG, you cannot be serious? Dude, sure he had a few timely goals, but he was just another cog in the machine, he was a very replaceable cog at that. Lapointe and Kocur (both of whom were origianl grindline memebers before McCarty (and were better)) would've done the same thing March 26th, 1997 if they were on the ice (they also wouldn't have gotten thier assed kick the following year when Lemieux went toe to toe with McCarty as he did.) I have never discounted his goals and sticking up for his teammates, but for you to say the Wings wouldn't have won ANY of their Cups without McCarty? (not mentioning that they won 2008 without him.) Dude, you need to come off the McCarty bus, because you fell and bumped your head or something. Acerage player, average fighter, lucky to play where he did. Oh and if he was SOOOOO valuable to this teams success, he would've never got bought out in 2005, doesn't matter what his salary was, they would've bought out someone else, but McCarty was "EXPENDABLE." Good Luck McCarty, I certainly hope you DO NOT replace Mickey Redmond.

I am pretty sure that for us local viewers, whatever Wings games that are on Vs. will probably be picked up by FSD, or mayb even a local "AIR" network, sorta like Channel 50 again. Maybe this also means we will have Ken and Mickey through three rounds of playoffs, instead of just two. Whatever the case,I am sure MR. Ilitch will not stand for his local viewers not being able to watch all the games and the playoffs... BTW, f*** Bettman and his nephew Cindy Lee Crosby
-
so I am not a fan because I don't like McCarty? Hmmmmm, didn't realize that just because someone put on the Wings sweater that I automtically have to like them or else I am not a fan of the entire team and a disgrace. So Claude Lemeuix becomes a Red Wing, I have to like him or I am not a fan? Chis PRonger? Cindy Lee Crosby? Another thing, if you remove McCarty from this team for his entire career, the Wings still win 4 Cups, so I don't know what your dillusions are about what he did for this team and city, what next, #25 to the rafters? McCarty in the Hall of Fame?
-
Never! Enjoy! Cheers! To all others, no I cannot be reasoned with, I respect everone who loves McCarty, but I have never liked him. Do I repsect some of his "big" goals and "big" fights? Sure, still doesn't mean I have to like him... Goodbye Darren, you'll always have Grinder to fall back on....oh wait, you suck at that too.... Goodbye! Good Luck! Remember, you cannot file bankruptcy again for 8 years!

...about 10 years too late. Goob Bye McWaste of Roster Space!

Ya, much like after Yzerman retired and Shanahan left. Oh God! How the Mighty WIngs have fallen! Lets See: Lost Hudler, Sammy, Hossa & Kopecky replaced them with Leino, Helm, Eaves, Williams and Bertuzzi. Lidstrom healthy, Holmstrom healthy, Datsyuk healthy. Ericsson Full Time. Franzen, Zetterberg signed, fat and happy. Oh, Rafalski healthy. Let them predict what they want. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3rd or 4th seeded Red Wings go into the playoffs on a role instead of a coast...

Two more words.... SALARY CAP

We lost 88 goals and get back 76 goals - Good Job Kenny!
LeftWinger replied to Snazzy's topic in General
Add to this fact that Helm is going to be here ALL year and there is NO WAY Osgood has as bad of year (GAA-wise) as he did last year (could he?) So you can shave off atleast 20 goals from our Goals Against this year as well. I am excited to see how having three people that can screen the net also adds to our goals for. With Holmstrom, Franzen and now Bertuzzi who can all reek havoc to opposing goaltender, we should outdo the 88 goals lost and then some... -
With the way Draper was used in the playoffs, I can see him and Maltby being the swap outs at 13th forward. Regardless of line combos, for those of you who wanted a completely different make-up on our roster got thier wish: 2008: Holmstrom Zetterberg CLeary Hossa Datsyuk Franzen Sammy Filppula Hudler Maltby Draper Kopecky 2009: Holmstrom Zetterberg Datsyuk Cleary Filppula Franzen Bertuzzi Helm Leino Eaves Draper Williams (Maltby) Now, I know those wont be the line combos more than likely, but the makeup has definately switched to a more North American team, whether or not that will pay dividends remains to be seen, but you cannot say Holland didn't change the makeup of his team....

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi
LeftWinger replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
I don't know which spreadsheet you are using, but capgeek.com shows the Wings UNDER the cap by $279,000 with Lilj on LTIR and giving Bertuzzi $1.5M. Now if Lilja is slated to be back, then we have a problem. Even after trading Lebda, we are still $320,000 over the cap, trade off Meech and we'd be fine, but then we'd only have 6 defensmen and no room to bring up Kindl (or anyone for that matter) to cover injuries. I do agree, I hope the siging is more like $1M which'll of course, leave us more cash for injuries. If Bert is signed that'll give us the 13 forwards (along with Meech's ability to play up, 14.) I am only saddened by the fact that Oulahen and MCGrath are odd men out and unless they clear waivers, won't be in our organization anymore. I was looking forward to seeing one of them up here at least... another thing to those of you making line combos with Holmstrom on the 4th line, give us a break. Homer will not be on the 4th line...
