in the spirit of good sportsmanship, I am going to tune in tonight to see what happens. I am kind of perplexed. Nielsen gets waived, gets to play, Svechnikov gets called up, gets to sit. BTW, Namestikov will certainly enjoy his line mates. oh, and Helm on the top line? How in THE hell does this coach still have a job?

I hope so, but just like any other business venture, you shouldn't hire your friends or family to do the job because one day you will have to fire them. Of course, there probably isn't anyone that isn't or hasn't been a friend to Yzerman. I'm still holding out hope on Larionov. Currently he is HC of the Russian junior team.

So, for the draft is it C, D or G? C = I think he goes Eklund D = It's a toss up Power or Hughes. Which one do you prefer? G = Well, every ranking system I see, Wallstedt is in the top 5, does Yzerman take a gamble on a Goalie in the top 3? I know the general idea is you don't take a goalie that high, but MAF went, and he had a pretty good career. If we drafted a G and he had MAF numbers and results, I'll take it. (BTW, you KNOW we're getting a top 3 this season after the NHL system screwed us and all the talk of changes. I do not expect a #1, and barely expect a #2. I think that if #3 is the furthest we can fall, then that is what will happen. Can't have a 25 year playoff run in Detroit again...)

The Red Wings are 4/58 on the PP this season....most of which were 1 goal games. Tony DeAngelo is a power play point producer. It was stupid not to claim him for free (maybe there was a reason, like maybe trying to get another asset or retained salary) and it is ridiculous not to trade for him. His value is low, it wouldn't cost much to get him. The Rangers were bad last year too, so it could be possible he would bring his point potential with him, although our s***ty coaches would probably put an end to those points. However, he would be the best D we have right now. I really could care less about ANOTHER year at the best shot at #1. I am done with that crap. If we got Hughes or Power that would be great, but I think they will be available at 4 or 5 anyhow. I mean add one of those to a group that includes Seider, Hronek and Deangelo? Come on man! Maybe it's something that can be addressed at the TDL or in the summer, but his value will rise in time, no matter what his opinions are. He shoulo've been claimed off waivers IMO...but I too would've claimed Galchenyuk. I wonder what Toronto's idea was there? He could've been had for free, but after he cleared they traded two assets to Carolina for him. That's it. No extra assets or retained salary.

they also need to make it to where team 12 cannot jump to #1 again. IMO, anyone between 6-15 should not get a #1 OA. Honestly, I wouldn't be too upset with the "no top 3 in consecutive drafts" The last place team would just drop automatically to #4. The last 5 picks at #4: 16 - Puljujarvi 17 - Makar 18 - Tkachuk 19 - Byram 20 - Raymond Then they next season they would be able to get a top 3 pick if they are awarded.

all of this is why Blashill is THE problem. Just get this season over with. It's obvious Yzerman is not going to make any moves (acquiring) to make this team better this shortened season, he isn't going to fire Blashill and staff, so lets just get to the TDL and get some picks, get the season over, PLEASE win a top 3 lottery pick and CLEAN HOUSE (coaches and some pending UFA's) over the summer. I am just so frustrated (again) watching this season. We have better players than last season, and Blashill (and Co.) have not made this team perform any better. I hate this coaching staff. It's time for a sweeping change.

another one goal loss. PP is horrible still...imagine if we had a PP quarterback that could turn our 1 goal deficits into 1 goal gains? (DeAngelo) I am honestly very disappointed in Hronek's play. But is that because he may not be as good as we thought, or is it the coaching? I blame the coaches for a lot when it comes to making plays and technical issues, but at some point it has to go on the players decisions (or lack of) on the ice as well.

intriguing scenario, Seattle draft takes place BEFORE players become FA's this year. Might make some teams have to make harder decisions! I don't think our situation will get any worse though, anyone that would become a UFA or RFA was already going to be protected (Bertuzzi) or unprotected (all of our UFA's.) MAYBE if Yzerman does not acquire a D man (Deangelo) then Merrill gets the 3rd protect. I think I would protect Stecher, Hronek and Merrill if I had to. I am not too sure Yzreman is impressed enough with Cholowski or Lindstrom to protect them. Especially if he acquires a D.

I wouldn't mind Yzerman picking Galchenyuk off waivers. BTW, how did he come to be on the Hurricanes? He was signed by Ottawa this off season, but I didn't see any type of prior transaction/waiver movement for him until today.

ya, this may be the or near the end for DD. If he clears and is out for the rest of the season, I can see a LTIR for his final year. I like DD, but he just did not turn out as he was expected to. Yzerman is slowly "dealing" with Holland's Red Wing's. I too hope this means DeAngelo is coming, but I hope it doesn't cost too much in return.
