Better overall core of defensemen - Flames or Wings?

Tampa looks pretty goodnow too, with Ohlund, walker and oh yea, Hedman...

    Kopecky signs with the Blackhawks

Well, if this does have Bowman written all over it (Waaay overpaymen for Kopy) but that is gonna cost you guys Hudler. If Kopecky gets $1.2 on a contender, what does Hudler get? Maybe Bowman will sign him up too, at $3.5? Bowman DOES love himself some Hudler....

    Colton Orr to Leafs

It seems everywhere Burkie goes, he is always trying to "steal" players from the Wings and players the Wings show interest in. This being the latest, although I kow Kenny wouldn't offer Orr $1m, that would be about as dumb as Hudler getting $2m from Kenny! Anyhow, obviously Burkie wants to take any player that the Wings are interested in, so Holland should just mention just a bunch of sucky names and watch Burkie scoop them all up at outrageous salaries a really "rebuild" Toronto. Hey maybe Holland should offer Hudler $3m so Burkie will step in a give him $4m! I sure would love to have Toronto's 1st and 3rd rounders for next year, since the won't be in the playoffs it's bound to be a top 10! - guys, just joking with the Hudler crap, I know there is a lot of man-love on here so I will stop...

YA! that means there is still a chance.... that we'll rid ourselves of Hudler!

Red Wings prepare for life w/o Hossa

All Hail Hudler! Hail! Hail! Hail!

Red Wings prepare for life w/o Hossa

Yes, it does, but who cares right? Because we all know that Hudler is God and deserves $3.0m, when we were only going to offer Hossa $4.0m.... Hudler can stay, for $1.2m... anything else is NOT overpaying him, but missusing our cap. He needs to give a hometown discount to stay so we can ice the best possible team this season, not so we can sign a $400,000 Joe UFA to skate on the 4th line... PLUS only have Meech as the 13th forward AND the 7th defensman. Yeah, that's depth for ya! Meech is your only savior for ALL injuries because you cannot call anyone up for $250,000..... Yea, lets give Huder $2.5m of our $3.3m.....

    Bouwmeester signs with Calgary

Man florida can get some good players, but the fail to build the team around them: Bouwmeester, Luongo, Jovonowski, Jokinen, Bure(s), Kozlov to name a few.... maybe they should fold up shop, along with Phoenix...

Red Wings prepare for life w/o Hossa

Another Hossa is gone thread? Maybe the Hudler lovers can turn this into a "Lets give 90% of our cap space to Jiri" thread as well. Thanks for the effort Hossa, good luck whereever you go! Just say "NO" to Hudler

...and if Holland gives Hudler most of his available cap, then maybe he isn't the genius we all thought he was...

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

And that is STILL wasting your cap space. You got one guy filling both the 13th and 7th positions. And you have the UFA making $500,000, so now you only have $150,000 left. Lets see, Meech is filing in for an injured d-man and now Holmstrom goes down (like he has the past three seasons) now what? Yeah, you now have 11 forwards again, and no room to bring someone up. I am not debating whether or not Hudler is worth the $2.5m, I believe I started a thread showing how he is worth $3m or more, but with our limted cap space, it would be stupid to give him most of it. I don't make the rules on the compensation, that part sucks, but what else are you going to do? You cannot sink the rest of your cap space into one guy and expect to be healthy for the playoffs another long run in the playoffs. At least leave room to call someone up if needed to fill in for injuries... ie. Abby at $850,000... and I suspect the amount of intelligence you have if you think the Wings can go all the way again with only having Meech backing everyone up...

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Well, thats all fine, but I guess my point is, if the likes of Hossa was willing to take an almost 35% paycut to stay here, maybe Hudler should consider it as well, so maybe we can have about $2 million to sign Professor X and maybe a minimum wager (Orr) for a 13th forward and keep Meech just on D. My point is, Hudler has to take a discount if some manhy Superstars did and were willing to. And what if someone does offer Hudler $3.0 million?

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

doesn't matter, even at the same salary, there won't be enough money to fill out the forward units. LET HUDLER WALK... Again, if he wants to play at the same pay, fine, if h wants a raise, adios! AND GOD FORBID HOLLAND MATCHES A $2.5 MILLION OFFER!!!

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Dude, you still only have 11 forwards.... Leino re-signs at his same salary? Dude, I don't know what your man-love is for Hudler, but let it go... plus you cannot evn bring up Abby, because you only have $600,000 left...
  14. LeftWinger

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Problem is, if you match a $2.5 million offer for Hudler, you aren't getting Leino OR Abby up here. And yo uare short 2 forwards. Can't play with 10 forwards, face it, if Huds wants a raise, we'll see him somewhere else...

So just who do you suggest he trades in order to keep Hudler?

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Amen to all the Hudler posts! Sure he's worth more than $2.5, but not with our cap! He needs to either sign for $1.1 or get a long term Zetterberg deal that pays him $2.5 but cap hit is $1.0.... Plus a second round pick for Hudler, because of our cap situation, is golden. Besides look what we did with 2 senconds rounders this year....

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Oh God! I hope he wouldn't waste $2.5 million on Hudler.... Besides that would only be 10 forwards with only $800,000 cap to go. You couldn't even re-sign Leino if you gave Hudler $2.5... Holland would be an ass. I know what 57 point 25 year old are worth, BUT we don't have enough cap space to give Hudler $2.5 AND complete our forward units.... He'll have to make the same salary, at least for one more year, then possibly get a raise in 2010... Or bid adieu! Not unless Holland does a Zetterberg type contract where Huds makes $2.5 per year, but he cap hit is only $1.0. That I could deal with, don't know if I culd deal with Hudler for the next 10 years, but maybe he turns into something good!

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

so why would we give a raise to a one-dimensional player? I'll keep hudler, but for his same salary. He hasn't shown he deserves a raise, so if wants more than $1.1, good on ya huds! Enjoy your career!

No linky, but he heard it somewhere, where I wonder, or did his 10 year old kid tell him?

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

I like it! With $1.1 million left over for call ups! Or if you ae skeptical about Moen @ $1.25, offer him $1.5million still leaves room for Abby if needed...

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

Sammy at $2million no thanks... WIth your linup, how much cap is left over? edit: nevermind, I checked, with giving Lappy $2millin and Leino $950,000 yo still have $1 million left over for Orr (would he command more than that, I don't know much about him)

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

It all teeters on Hossa.... I know trading Kronwall is VERY unpopular, but if you trade Filppula or Cleary you have even less forwards, so you have Hossa & keep Kronwall then you only have 10 forwards. Who fills in the 3 other spots? I do hear you on Kronwall and in a few years our top two SHOULD be Kronner and Ericsson. But if Hossa acceptsm someone in the $3million range has to go. Rafi & Stuart have NTC's (which cold be waived, but...) and money wise, it would be easier to complete you roster if you only had to replace 1 defencman NOT 3 forwards. Trading Meech AND LEbda would not clear enough room capwise either. I am not advocating trading Kronwall, BUT, I am just looking at having an incomplete roster with no capspace versus a complete roster with no capspace... Hudler = Gone, get over it...
