Isn't that something? Offer Sheet (AAV) $994,433 or below None (compensation) $994,433 -to- $1,506,717 3rd Round Pick $1,506,718 -to- $3,013,433 2nd Round Pick $3,013,434 -to- $4,520,150 1st, 3rd $4,520,151 -to- $6,026,867 1st, 2nd, 3rd $6,026,868 -to- $7,533,584 (2) 1st, 2nd, 3rd Over $7,533,585 - and up (4) 1st Round Picks ...I would still take the 2nd round pick over signing him at $1.5. If you try to trade him, you prolly won't get more than a 3rd round offer. Just let him test the market and get what you can in return. Holland can make the best of a 2nd rounder, just look at the two he got this year. Especially if he gets a high second rounder again! I agree though, nobody is going to offer enough to him to give up a 1st and 3rd. May as well make plans on having two (or three if Hossa gets a 2nd in return) 2nd round picks next year. I, for one, think Holland would be dangerous with three 2nd round picks!

If Hossa would'n't have taken a pay cut (technically) to play here, we wouldn't have had his 40 last season, so the 80 goal argument is crap. We cannot afford Hossa. Get over him. Unless he takes the $4 to $5 million cap hit, lets move on... If you re-sign Leino at a modest raise taking him to $950,000, then you bring up Helm, Howard & Ericsson permanently, without adding Abdelkader you have approx. $2.3million to play with. Here is the roster so far: (line combos are not set, just listing names) Dats - Zett - Holm Clear - Flip - Franzen Leino - Helm - ???? Maltby - Draper - ???? ???? Lids - Rafi Stu - Kron Erics - Lilja (assuming he can play) Lebda Meech ...if Lilja can play then Meech can act as your 13th forward, that still leaves $2.3m to play with, Hudler will probably get $2m somewhere, that will only leave you $300,000 for a UFA and never be able to bring up Abby. (barring a LTIR) Unless you can get two UFA's for $2.3m you have to bring Abby up, that knocks your cap room available to $1.5m. If you could get new blood for that or re-sign Sammy, doesn't matter, point is Hudler, unless he takes $1m to $1.5m, is gone... 1st two lines unchanged Leino - Helm - Abby Maltby - Draper - Sammy (or UFA) Meech

Holland trades his rights to LA doesn't mean he is gonna sign in LA. He could go to market and decide he'll take Hollands offer on July 1st and guess what? Now unless there is some kind UFA rule against re-singing with the team that traded your rights. If not then...

Didn't see this on here. Classy, classy man... Thanks Cheli! Don't know how I ever hated you! http://apps.detnews.com/apps/multimedia/pl...dex.php?id=3638

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Whats funny is, if Hossa had the exact same playoff, but the Wings WON the Cup, nobody would be saying he sucked in the playoffs. They'd all be praising him for his game four (pivitol game 4) two goals each round (sans the finals.) They would all be commenting on how despite scoring he outscored Cindy in the finals an was a huge distraction to the opposition allowing our 3rd and 4th liners to dominate the series. He had a good playoff. Did he score 29 points? No, but he didn't score 5 points either. He was a force out there, who, depsite falling short of dominating, had to e watched with 2 sets of eyes all playoff long. He was +5, so that is good, he had 100 shots on goal (to lead ALL players on Detroit this playoff) which is 24 more than last year, so it's not like he wasn't trying. The Wings have even scoring, they don't have one or two dominate players. -

Agreed ANother thing for sure, Holland isn't going to get handcuffed by Hossa (like Pitts did.) If he cannot re-sig before July 1, he will trade his rights for something (lots of draft picks!) Hell, trade the rights to Edmonton or the Islanders, we'll get some high draft picks! -

Easy cowboy, I only listed the roster, you can do the lines how you want. re-sig Huds? WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND, WE ONLY HAVE $1.5Million to play with!!!! Huds made $1.1 last season, he is not worth taking up the rest of our cap! LET IT GO!!! Bye Bye Huds! Ok, is LaRose is only making $875,000, then offer him the $1M to $1.5M. I am fine with that. I think all of our UFA's should walk, and Hudler. Just re-sig Leino for around $950,000 and spend the $1.5 on new blood... ...on my roster listing (the one where you thought I was making line combos in stone) replace Sammy with Larose, I'll take it... -
Dude, relax, notice I said sign him for $1.5million, that is not big money on third line pairing. If he is worth more on the market, then pass. I figured doublng his money would be attrative, but if the markets says he's worth more, then fine. But $1.5 million for Scuderi is NOT big money. ANd heis a hell of alot better than Meech or Lebda. I'd give Scuderi $1.5 million before Hudler gets anything, thats how much Hudler is worth to this team. He choked worse than anyone in the playoffs. Why not have three great defensive pairings? Scuderi makes the P/K that much better. But we only have $1.5 to toss around so forget it. Like I said, I never mentioned signing him for sure, only if he'd take the $1.5, which would double his salary, thought that wasn't being unreasonable. If he gets $3.0 plus, good on him! If we had the money I'd give him $3.0 before Hudler as well... Scuderi = solid, gritty, defensive defensmen. A Bargain at $1.5... Hudler = :puke:

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Not to make excuses, but remember the TWO devistating head first crashes into the boards near the end of the season? Could it be possible, since we used the injury excuse for Rafi, Lids & Dats, that he had some leftover effects from those? Could it have been a possibility? -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

IT would be different if we had the cap space and DIDN'T WANT TO PAY HIM, or if we offered him $6 million and he said no, we have no cap room, we cannot afford to pay him even the discounted price. He's not turning his back on the Wings, the Wings aren't doublecrossing him. It's black and white, hard numbers. Sure, if he'd take the $3.9 of Franzen that would be awesome, great! I am not even sure we could afford that and continue to fill out the rest of the roster. Sorry we can't afford you Hossa, we aren't mad at you, have a great year! No sarcasm included... -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Ahhhhh, I must of let those go in one eye and out of the other. These are the same people who boo Fedorov. Also, they believe Hossa should come back for basically free, like he owes the Wings or something... I'd love to see Hossa here, but if we cannot fit him, we cannot fit him. Similar to when we had to buyout Hatcher and McCarty in 2005, if the cap doesn't fit, then you must.... uh, sorry, different subject... -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I hear ya, and if he would re-sig for the $1M to $1.5 we have to play with, then sigb him up. Most people here are looking for a fresh blood type player. BUT using Sammy as the filler we look like this: (lines are subjet to change) Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Cleary Franzen - Filppula - Samuelsson Leino - Helm - Abdelkader Maltby - Draper - Holmstrom Meech (McCarty (yech)) Lidstrom - Rafalski Stuart - Kronwall Ericsson - Lilja (assuming he'll play) Lebda Osgood Conklin (if he'll sign for the same, I am not trusting Howard, but it's a wash in salary basically) I am also assuming Leino re-sigs for a modest raise of arouind $950,000... -
Taking my sons to their first ever Detroit Red Wings game! Too bad it was Nov. 11th against the Pitts. Yeah, that one! But they still enjoyed the experience and it was an exciting crowd! A 10 and a 5 year old don't get too caught up in the whole rivalry thing! But honestly, what a hell of a season! UPs, downs, WInter Classic, Dastyuk and Lids say F/U to the all star game. A rekindled rivalry with Chicago, winning streaks, losin streaks, we had it all! Injuries, Marion Hossa, and with that being said, we came within two goal posts, a couple of bounces and a Bettman from repeating as Stanley Cup Champs!

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Riddle me this.. just kidding, but Hossa signs a 1 year deal somewhere else then comes back after 2010 for his $6Million cap hit when Lids comes off the books/significantly lowers his salary? Kopy, Sammy, Huds should ALL be allowed to walk. Re-sig Conklin only if he plays at the same rate of pay, sorry, no offense, but need the extra cap room, so no raise. Let Howard go on waivers, or trade him right now. With the $1.5million we have (after Helm/Leino/Abby/Conklin/Erisson are factored in) we can a a reliable 3rd or 4th liner for sure... -
Well, then if Abby stays in GRR, we have $2.3M in cap space. If you see Sammy staying, he's gonna have $1M to $1.5M, that leaves $1.3M to $800,000 for Hudler. Hudler can get more than $1.3 elsewhere, even if he did want to stay in Detroit, do you want to give your entire Capspace to Sammy and Hudler? Plus that makes 13 forwards and 8 defensmen with 2 goalies. You are going to have (assuming Lilja can play) Lebda and Meech sitting every night for the "D" and who sits on "O"? Sammy? Leino? Let Sammy walk, let Hudler go and take the pick(s.) With Abby staying in GRR, that allows Meech to be used as the 13th forward or 8th D-man. Ledba will be #7. They will both sit most nights in this scenario too, but without Hudler and Sammy, Meech gets a better chance of playing and Ledba doesn't have to compete with Meech for "D" time. You still have $2.3M to sign a UFA that could put us back over the top this year. Sign someone (NEW) for $1M to $1.5M and that leaves you room to call up Abby without putting someone on LTIR... Sorry, Hudler (and Sammy) nothing personal, just business...

GOD NO! re-sigging Hudler will handcuff us! He is done here in Detroit, get the compensation picks, even if it is only a 2nd and 3rd. L8R Hudler! -
Chicago has roughly $15M available under the Cap. They need to sign 5 forwards, 3 defensmen and a goalie. Don't think they are going to use $6 to sign Hossa. Besides $6M is a Detroit discount, hes worth WAY more on the market, so is Chicago going to get into a bidding war and sign him for $8M? Especially with the two kids needing contracts next season? Doubt it...
-
No. After brining up Ericsson/Helm/Howard/Abdelkader, re-sigging Leino at a modest raise of $950,000, we will only have $1.5m left. Hudler will get more than that, he won't take less. Sammy could be the one to re-sig at $1,000,000. If you re-sig Conklin, he would probably as for a raise, Howard's cap is only $717,000. Assuming Lilja is healthy enough to play, Meech can double up as your 13th forward and 8th defensman with Lebda being the 7th. You pretty much have to decide whether to offer Sammy a million to be #12, or look elswhere, because Sammy will probably get more than that somewhere else. Again, HUDLER IS NOT GOING TO SIGN FOR $1.5M OR LESS. GOOD BYE HUDLER! Even if you keep Adbelkader in GRR, that will give you $2.3M. Are you going to give Hudler the remaining cap space you have? Let him go...

2009-2010 Detroit Red Wings FORWARDS Pavel Datsyuk $6,700,000 Henrik Zetterberg $6,083,333 Johan Franzen $3,954,545 Valtteri Filppula $3,000,000 Daniel Cleary $2,800,000 Tomas Holmstrom $2,250,000 Kris Draper $1,583,333 Ville Leino $950,000 Kirk Maltby $883,333 Justin Abdelkader $850,000 Darren Helm $599,444 DEFENSEMEN Nicklas Lidstrom $7,450,000 Brian Rafalaski $6,000,000 Brad Stuart $3,750,000 Niklas Kronwall $3,000,000 Andreas Lilja $1,250,000 Jonathan Ericsson $900,000 Brett Lebda $650,000 Derek Meech $483,333 GOALTENDERS Chris Osgood $1,416,666 Jimmy Howard $716,666 ...this is the roster (after bringing up Helm/Howard) if we assume Lilja can play, giving Leino a modest raise to $950,000 and bringing up Abdelkader and using Meech primarily as the 13th forward/extra Defensman. This officially (according to capgeek) leaves us $1,529,347 to round out our 4 lines with someone. This automatically removes Hudler from our roster since he is going to get more than $1.5m, same with Sammy. It also reflects losing all of our UFA's. WIth Kopecky's agent saying he is testing the market, we may as well say goodbye to him. So who would come here and who would you offer $1m to $1.5m to? *-Notice this also reflects Lebda as the 7th defensman, so we are covered for a short term injury if a forward or D-man goes down. Meech/Lebda

Such a negative nancy! Say goodbye to Hudler dude, face it, he sucks.... NHL 2009? I wouldn't even be able to tell you the first thing about NHL 2009. Nothing wrong with posing a question about a cap hit for a tandem that had great chemistry together. There's no doubt we need something new here and I said if Hossa doesn't re-sig... If Hossa doesn't, what do you think we are going to keep the same team that lst last year mins Hossa? NO. McCarty is not gooing toplay in Detroit, Hudler is gone, Sammy, Kopecky, Chelios, Conklin, gone... Maybe you should play the NHL 2009 a bit more and see what it's like NOT icing the same old team every year without making ANY changes... Go back to bed and try again, right now you are no better than all the pens trolls that hung around here...
-
I wouldn't doubt if the NHL only rasied the cap by so little just so the Wings CAN'T re-sig Hossa. It's not out o the question for Bettman ad the boyz to try to handcuff the Wings. Although, this also handcuffs his pretty boy team the Pitts as well. Anyhow, if Hossa does not resig, then what kind of cap hit wouldit take to get Tanguay and Yelle both together here? I kow Tanguay made over $5 million last year, is he due a raise or is he at the where his salary starts to go down? Yelle only made $750,000 in Boston and is 5 years older than Alex, but if we could get them both for a $4 million cap hit, would they be worth it? They had great chemistry in Colorado together...
-
Copy that! Thats a Helluva raise from $725,000 to $3 million....
