bottom line, was it an elbow, shoulder or stick? It was a hit to the head, period. League is trying to get rid of hits to the head, suspend him....

ESPN's Buccigross Det Ana Series Prediction
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The funny thing about this statement is, Nick is nominated yet agian for another Norris, Raffi was in the top 5 scoring all season and I can think of 29 other teams would give both of thier nuts to have Lidstrom on their team, and their right one for Rafalski. Lids may be 39, but he still outplays, out thinks and out scores almost all defensmen that are younger than him. That is why each year it is always him and two different defensmen up for the Norris. The only team that should be worried about Lids and Raffi is the Ducks..then the next one...then the next one... Its like the entire panel of expert NHL analysts are just waiting for the day the Wings for from Grace. Ain't gonna happen... -
Wow, 44 members, what do you guys talk about, you can'thave much of a debate, there aren't enough of you guys to disagree on something. 44 members compared to our 6203 members, that is much like your 40,000 fans that showed up in the parking lot for your Stanley Cup picnic, er Parade, compared to the million that flooded the entire parade route and over filled Hart Plaza. Here's wishing you luck on getting to another 40,000 fan turnout, but I think we'll be filling up Hart Plaza again before you win another Cup, so you can tell your guys to stop the deposit on the parking lot at Wal Mart, you won't be needing it.

boy the clucks fans have to happy with that 2:00 pm EST start on Sunday, guess Buttman doesn't care about Church and Luncheons after does he?
-
Its funny, but I just don't get why you would post this on a Sharks forum when they just lost to the Ducks. I would understand if the Wings just eliminated the Sharks, but, just not getting the relevance. Post it on a Blue Jackets forum or Ducks after this round. I just don't get it, but maybe I was sidetraceked a little bit.
-
That is why Buttman won't move the Wings bak in to the Eastern Conference. If the Wings left the west, who would go to all those games in Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, etc... Heck, Nashville and Columbus may as well closeup shop if the Wings went East. Buttman aint no dummy (well, maybe) but he has business smarts. The Wings equal rating in the west. When he needs them. Move them East and the Western COnference may as well pack it in...

Absolutely hate the Pens AND Alexandre Ovechkin. Since I will always be a Fedorov fan, gotta root for the Caps. Kudos to the Devils for proving once again who the best team in the NHL has been since 1995! I think this debate can fianally be put to bed! WINGS BETTER THAN DEVILS! PERIOD. Get over it National Media! The dynasty resides here in Detroit!
-
I really don't care about national coverage, I'd rather hear our guys anyhow, BUT no national coverage means no special start times, meaning at least 2 games that will be starting at 10:30 here at home! Pull that belt 1 notch tighter and hang on! 4:00 am comes early, especially being part of the Western Conference!
-
Ok, so you are not a kid, sorry. ANd even though you can defend yourself, you being a Wings fan automatcally gives you the support and backing of the ENTIRE Wings Nation, whether we be here in Hockeytown or somewhere in Latvia. We are One, We are Strong, We are the Detroit Red Wings Nation, We Are Hockeytown and We Are Champions...

The only thing that makes sense is you leaving and coming back when you have something constructive to add to this forum. At the time,Datsyuk spoke VERY little English so I doubt he understood all the crap Perry was trying to intimidate him with. He probably understood, Samuelsson and Pavel. Also, did you hear Pav respond t him in English? No, he just looked at him like, "what is that cum-gargle your spewing from those lips?" ANd if you are referring to Datsyuk talking to him AFTER he destroys him this series, uh.... he has learned more English now. Too bad your team hasn't learned more Hockey. So you'll let Perry know eh? You pretty tight with Perry? Maybe that is you with him in the picture in the Photoshop thread!?! Here, save you the time of searching: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1619046 Why don't you just go hang out with the other 40,000 duckie fans (if that) and leave the Hockey to us...
-
I agree, two players want to go, let them go. Not like someone suckered someone else. Now if we're talking deliberate elbows to the head or stomping on someone leg with a razor sharp skate, we can talk suspension worthy. Too bad these type of players won't ever drop the gloves with anyone unless they are the size of Dan Cleary.
-
here's the difference: We as fans may dismiss the talent on the duckies, but the Wings don't, so no, they will NOT be surprised. The Sharks fans dismissed the talent and the team suffered from the typical 1-8 matchup that we have learned to overcome over the years. They may have dismissed the Duckies talent as well, but you can guarantee, the Detroit Red Wings will NEVER underestimate an opponent. It's tatoo'd into their heads by one Mike Babcock. Besides, any flying elboes or stomping will be called and suspensions brougbht down this time around. Chrissy will not intimidate anyone on this team. He should just go back to wife-beating.
-
What I find the funniest about Perry and his talking to Datsyuk is he is too stupid to realize that Datsyuk speaks Russian and Samuelsson Swedish. So why would Perry ask Datsyuk to tell Samuelsson he is gonna get it, when, first of all Sammy speaks English, so if you're that much of a bad ass, tell him yourself, or if he think Sammy doesn't speak Englishis he that naive to assume that Datsyuk speaks Swedish or that Sammy is Russian? Perry is a narrowminded fool and will get his this series, especially when Datsyuk knocks him on his ass a few times! I can hear the exchange now: Datsyuk destroys Perry in the corner then says (in his Dracula voice): "Hey Perry, I trust my eyes to Dr. Romani, you should too! IF you had, then you would have seen me coming. By the way, Sammy says you just got knocked the F**K out!"
-
Dude, YOU were the one complaining about Chrissy being UNFAIRLY suspended. Look at the original post I replied to. I just figured everyone would like to see why he was so UNFAIRLY suspended. I am not complaining, you were. I figured everyone would like to know why you were complaining. And the video showed clearly he did nothing wrong and didn't deserve a suspention. There was clearly no intent to injure. To answer another 'Duck' comment, I don't underestmate anyone, but name me someone on the Ducks not named Getzlaf, Ryan or Perry who can hang with the Wings? Getzlaf/Datsyuk lines cancel each other out. So, who's gonna handle Zetterberg's line? Filppula's line? New tough guys on Anaheim? You could have the toughest guy in the league and he (they) STILL will intimidate the Wings. You can illegally or legally hit this team all you want, there is no backing down and there is NO intimidation. It is you, Hector, who will be surprised when you see what you are up against. If the Duckies come in with your attitude, I cannot see them winning one game. And to comment on Perry mouth getting backed-up. Did he give "IT" to Sammy or Datsyuk that series? I don't think so. The Ducks won because we failed to score on our power play chances. Won't happen this year. And the "IT" that will be given is gonna come from Datsyuk, Kronwall, Stuart & Helm amongnst others. Ducks won't hang this year, sorry.
-
ok, the Getzlaf line and the Datsyuk line will get thier points and cancel each other out, but who, on the Ducks is gonna stop the Zetterberg and Filppula lines? Last time we faced them, we had Dats and Zetterberg on the same line. We didn't have Rafalski, Stuart a healthy Kronwall OR Marion Hossa and the new and improved Franzen, let alone a more experienced Hudler and Filppula. Getzlaf line will get thier points, but much like the Pittsburgh series, one line isn't gonna beat this Wings. And if it just so happens the Wings DO manage to shut Getzlaf down, bring out the brooms. (although on record I am not calling a sweep.) PLUS, the Wings will not be intimidated what-so-ever. They are proven that the last 5 series. Every team, Nashville, Colorado, Dallas, Pittsburgh& Columbus have ALL tried to come out and intimidate them because they are a smal team. We see how that worked out for all of those teams. PLUS compare Lidstrom - Markov, Quincey - Lebda, Lilja - Chelios to Lidstrom - Rafalski, Stuart - Ericsson, Kronwall - Lebda. Its gonna be a different series and a MUCH different outcome.
-
yeah, deliberate elbows to the back of the head WHILE facing the boards. You're right, that is unfair, he should have gotten the rest of the series off. Oh, not to mention his flying elbow in the next round either. I am sure that was unfair as well. Dude, we don't need opposing fans like you on here, just leave now before you get emabarassed. If you have something constructive to bring to this forum then bring it, if not, just dissappear (much like your Ducks will this round.)
-
Well, what is trying to be said, and has been proven in EVERY series the Wings have played last year and the first round this year is you can go ahead and hit, punch, rough and TRY to intimidate the Wings. They aren't intimidated. I cannot wait to see Pavel catch Chrissy and knock him on his wife-beating, cheating ass. Oh BTW, this just out, Chrissy is no longer Bettmans golden boy, that guy plays in Pittsburgh, so don't think Chrissy is going to be able to get away with any of his "Genetics" elbows and hits from behind this time around. No stomping or flying forearms. Chrissy will be called and severley penalized. You guys may as well sit Parros as well, because he will not be able to play is game, unless his game involves a steady flow to the penalty box. Then we'll gladly have you suit him up. I hope you've enjoyed your playoff run, you gonna have a very hard time winning one game, let alone the series. Yes, the Ducks did outplay the Sharks, but that is not going to happen against the Wings, they are gonna have to outplay the Wings the entire series, because they won't be thugged, and that just won't happen. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Draper. He's played over 1000 games for the Wings. Theres no denying his importance to this team both past and present.
-
I meant of those four, that is the one that means the least. I think the other three benchmarks are more important to deciding to or not to retire a number. Sorry, for the confusion.
-
http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1617901 Please read the above and see if you agree. I hope you are right, but I am doubtfull... One of the benchmarks is games played with the organization. That outweighs points and stats. If yo give basically what amounts to an entire career to this organization, they will give you their ultimate thanks and recognition. And that is honoring a player with the utmost honor, hanging his number from the rafters, so not only were you a Red Wing for life, you will be a Red Wing forever, and noone will EVER replace you or wear your number. If you look at the players already there. They aren't necessariy the highest scoring Red Wings (although Howe and Yzerman definately fill that requirment.) They are players who gave thier (hockey) life and sometimes more to this club. If you are going by points alone, or games played alone, then both Lindsey and Abel are below Fedorov in those particular respects. Zetterberg is only 58 points behind Abel and Datsyuk is already ahead of Abel in points. Holmstrom has played in 811 games and is only 39 points behind Abel. Abel only played in 570 games. Would that mean that these current Wings are locks for the rafters too? Honetly, when thier contracts are up I fully believe #13 & #40 have a great shot for being honored that way. Holmstrom has another two years on his contract, wil probably re-sign here for another or two, so when he reaches 1000 games and 500+ points, he will get serious consideration. Especially since he has been a huge part of these Stanley Cup runs. And that, I believe, is the winning combo. Longevity + Dedication + Points (very little importance) + Importance to this teams Championship success. All that added together equals the guys that are up there now and soon: Locks: Lidstrom, Draper, Osgood Probable: Holmstrom, (and after their contracts)Zetterberg, Datsyu. Outside Chance: Fedorov, Maltby (better chance than Feds) And although they were important while they were here, the likes of Shanny, Hasek, Hull, Robitaille, Brown, Kozlov, Larionov & Chelios, will NOT have their numbers retired. Even if Hossa re-signs for 10 years, highly doubtful he'll have his number retired. He may even petition Maltby for #18 after Maltby retires. Another reason Fedorov probably won't is, remember, he actually re-signed somewhere else TWICE. With Anaheim and in 1998 when he held out for most the season and signed a contract with Carolina. So he left twice and even though he was very important to te Cup wins in 1998 and 2002, only because Ilitch didn't felt he had to outdo his arch-rival Karmonos, Fedoov could have been and ex-Wing a LONG time ago and only had 1 Cup win here. That is not very dedicated to this team or city. Ilitch was dedicated to Fedorov, but Fedorov turned his back on him twice. ALthough the Anaheim fiasco had a little more involved, he left for Carolina for the money,

I am one of THE biggest Fedorov fans on earth. Up until last off season, I was a huge proponent of retiring #91. He still ranks up there in career points as a Wing, he did score 400 goals with the Wings, Hart Trophy, Selke Award, 3 Stanley Cups. Even the fact that he left for Anaheim as a UFA, didn't sway me from believing he would have #91 up next to the rest of them. But, and this is a big but, he must have come back to the Wings and finish his career here. I was vry optimistic that we'd pick him up at the 2008 trade deadline, I was angry when we didn't. The Stanley Cup (and asking price) helped that anger to leave. Fast forward to July 1st, Marian Hossa. OMG! Marian Hossa! Even with that, I still held out hope that Sergei would come here for a million or less to finish his career back "HOME." Well, he didn't. HE re-signed with Washington for WAY more than that, and now, with the cap issues and the prospectof siging Hossa for life, it is highly unlikely (considering he will be 40 in December) will re-sign here. Thus, ending any, if not all hope of #91 going up where it belongs. Outside chance, maybe (maybe more if Hossa cannot re-sign) he'll be able to come back for Darren McCarty type money. But I believe that the next numbers to go up in the rafters are as follows: #5 #33 #30 ...then we'll have a long time to see if #13, #40, #93 or #81 (doubt it) goes up. Feds will definately go into the Hall. If he enters as a Wing, he has a shot at #91 going up, but if he ends up winning a Cup in Washington, he just may want to shun the Ilitch's again and enter as a Capitol. I am still hoping, but every year he doesn't come back, makes it less and less likely. Just my two cents...

What else are they gonna say? "He's the slowest, absolute worst player I've ever played with! I don't even know why he is in the NHL! He Sucks!" Next season, it would be awesome to see a grind line of Helm, Abdelkader and Downey! (prolly won't happen, but that would be energy there!)
