Ok, you drew me in. Here it goes. Gary Buttman all but guarnteed parity when the "staged" and "pre-planned" lockout took place in 2004. He guaranteed that he could put wining franchises in cities where most people don't know the difference bewteen Hockey and Jai Alai. Passing the Cup arund the "Bettman" cities allows him to market the fact that the lockout and salary cap (which he said HAD to be in the CBA or he'll shut the league down) would ceate NEW fan interest and generate NEW money. No matter who wins the Cup, the Detroit Red Wings will ALWAYS be the most popular team in the NHL. They will always sell millions and millions in merchandise. But give the Cup to likes of Anaheim, Carolina, Tampa Bay, now wer're talking NEW teams selling merchandise. Fot that one miracle season that team sold their arena out. Possibly the next season as well with fans hoping for a repeat performance. The more mney "HIS" teams make, the more money the NHL makes. Unfortunatelyt using this conspiracy, the CUP will NEVER return to Canada because Hockey popularity will NEVER die down up there! After a couple of years of handing the Cup around, there comes a year when he HAS to let the players decide the Cup, so as not to look TOO conspicuous(sp) and that is when a REAL team will win it, like Detroit or New Jersey. Think about it 2002 - Detroit, 2003 - Jersey, 2004 - Tampa, 2006 - Carolina, 2007 - Anaheim, 2008 - Detroit, 2009 - ? (Could be the year of the "FACE" of the NHL to win instead of a "Bettman" team.) Well, you asked for it!

Sure it would help to play good for the entire 60 minutes, but even when we don't, when we eventually pick it up, the refs f*** us. The Stuart hit, and the goal are the two examples tonight. So if they played 60 minutes instead of 30, they would've been f***ed 4 times instead of 2... Can't beat the Ducks AND the NHL. what did I say about losing fair? Utter bulls***. Not only was the goal that should've have never been a power play to begin with, end up being the game winner, the refs f*** us again. Even if he put the whistle towards his mouth, by time he came behind the net it was sitting in plain sight, he could've waited. I am big into conspiracies, even if the NHL is NOT corrupt, they should hire refs who know how to their job. Puck loose, play not dead. I just think its bull that Anaheim continues to get away with all the punching, crosschecking and roughing after EVERY whistle. Sure the Wings do some, but nowhere near as much! Someone is gonna get hurt. They gotta call some of that crap so it will stop. Its ok to grab a guy after the whiste to make he's tied up, but every whistle there is a Hack and a Whack. The funny thing about this statement is, Nick is nominated yet agian for another Norris, Raffi was in the top 5 scoring all season and I can think of 29 other teams would give both of thier nuts to have Lidstrom on their team, and their right one for Rafalski. Lids may be 39, but he still outplays, out thinks and out scores almost all defensmen that are younger than him. That is why each year it is always him and two different defensmen up for the Norris. The only team that should be worried about Lids and Raffi is the Ducks..then the next one...then the next one... Its like the entire panel of expert NHL analysts are just waiting for the day the Wings for from Grace. Ain't gonna happen...

Its funny, but I just don't get why you would post this on a Sharks forum when they just lost to the Ducks. I would understand if the Wings just eliminated the Sharks, but, just not getting the relevance. Post it on a Blue Jackets forum or Ducks after this round. I just don't get it, but maybe I was sidetraceked a little bit.

That is why Buttman won't move the Wings bak in to the Eastern Conference. If the Wings left the west, who would go to all those games in Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, etc... Heck, Nashville and Columbus may as well closeup shop if the Wings went East. Buttman aint no dummy (well, maybe) but he has business smarts. The Wings equal rating in the west. When he needs them. Move them East and the Western COnference may as well pack it in...

I really don't care about national coverage, I'd rather hear our guys anyhow, BUT no national coverage means no special start times, meaning at least 2 games that will be starting at 10:30 here at home! Pull that belt 1 notch tighter and hang on! 4:00 am comes early, especially being part of the Western Conference!

I agree, two players want to go, let them go. Not like someone suckered someone else. Now if we're talking deliberate elbows to the head or stomping on someone leg with a razor sharp skate, we can talk suspension worthy.
