Franz & Hossa Trade Filppula for a 2nd rounder, see if Hudler gets an offer for $2.6 - $3.9 and collect our 1st and 3rd. (if he nets $4 million, we'll get a 1st, 2nd & 3rd!) not unless Hudler sees the master plan a re-signs for a VERY modest raise.

it really tells you something about Datsyuk. Hossa could've politically correct and said, "I've played with a lot a great players and Pav ranks right up there..." but he said, he is the Best player. I wonder how Buttman feels about that? I can see Cindy right now, "...but Uncle Gary, you told me I was the best player! ...Uncle Mario! Uncle, I am the best player, right? Uncle Mario?" unfortunately, in order to be the best player, Buttman has to say you are, so until Datsyuk plays for the Pens or Ducks or any other of his teams, Datsyuk will only get the Pearson award, not the Hart...
-
I have already mentioned Mary Buttman putting a Detroit Clause in the new CBA NOT allowing players to sign (especially in Detroit) for less than they are worth! (a figure that he will determine) So when a player goes to sign here for $6 million, he is worth more, but if that player wants to sign in, oh, lets say, Pittsburgh or Anaheim he is only worth $5.9 million so $6 million is all of a sudden fine. Funny, Ken Holland and Mike Illitch are doing EXACTLY what this salary cap was meant to do, keep salaries down and allow smaller market teams a chance at big name players. Holland is playing the NHL's game to a tee, yet the NHL STILL treats Detroit like crap and like they are illigitimate step children! Get it through your head Buttman, The Wings are not only the model organization in the NHL, but in all of Sports! You should give up your evil campaign against us, we'll win either way! I also remember mentioning how this could get done by signing Hossa and Fanzen, then trading Filppula and letting Hudler test the water. I was called dillusional, hmmmmm, with all the talk about Hossa AND Franzen, it looks like Hudler may be the odd man out. (sorry, couldn't hlold that in)
-
to be followed by Holland saying, "Get off my lawn you brat! Run home to your mommy!" and YOU should be slapped by even mentioning Cindy's name with the Wings!!!
-
"Everybody knows if you want to stay here, you have to take less, so yes (I'll take less)." I think that about says it all!

...to quote Bon Jovi, "it's all the same, only the names have changed..." ...whether it's NBC/VS/FOX/ABC/ESPN, it's always about someone else OTHER than the Detroit Red Wings! Are the Wings the Al Queda of the NHL? Are we the enimies no matter who was responsible for 9/11 or how many Stanley Cup/Presidents Trophies/Norris/Selke's/Bing/Conn Smythe are within the organization? Gimme A Break! ...if it's not Gretzky in the 80's, or Lindros in the 90's, Roy throughout his career, Pronger recently or Kathy Lee Crosby now, no matter who the Wings are eliminating from the playoffs, the Networks just will not focus on who the best players are or which team has been the most consistant and winningest and best throughout the 1990's and so far in the 2000's... ...Of course that is the power of the media, most (North) American's will believe anything they hear on TV even though they are seeing something completely different. If the media tells you that a man living in cave orchastrated the single worst attack on the USA since Pearl Harbor, then they will believe you. If NBC tells you that Cindy "Kathy Lee" Crosby is the best player in the NHL, even though, like 9/11, they can see right in front of their eyes that Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hossa are far superior and more complete hockey players than Crosby can ever dream to be (maybe when he grows up, but not now.) Heck, most "experts" agree Ovechkin is FAR superior to Crosby in every aspect of the game, so why aren't the blowing him? Of course if the Wings face the Caps in the Finals, they will be, but at least Ovechkin is worthy of it, more so than Crosby. Datsyuk alone is so much better than Crosby and he proves it each time they play. Even a NON-Wings fan (of course they cannot be a Pens fan) would rank Datsyuk ahead of Crosby and possibly #2 behind the electricity of Ovechkin. But that media, those spin-masters that brain-wash the viewing public wants you to believe it was a man in a cave and that snot nose, crybaby is the best player in the NHL and nobody else compares... ...I am not one to wish injury on anyone at anytime, but just as Lindros was reaching his invincible status given to him by the folks that run the NHL, he was clocked 7 or 8 times a lost his marbles. (of course, the blanket party he received in Philly because he was boinking Rod Brind'Amours old lady didn't help his concussions to much either.) Give Kathy Lee a few mega hits at center ice or with his head down after a pass and the NHL will have to find someone else to call the prodical son. And I can guarantee he won't play in a Winged Wheel, yet he'll get elimated more than once by those same Wheelers! ...I don't claim to know who exactly was responsible for 9/11, I have my beliefs and it doesn't involve a man in a cave, as the media tells me I should believe. I also don't claim to know who the #1 player in the NHL is, I have my beliefs there as well, but again although the media tells me what I should believe, it does NOT involve a boy wearing a Penguin sweater, much like the one his gramma knitted him when he was 10.(<- I made that part up)

always LOVED Aaron! He is one of those "Old" Wings I would love to see come back and end his career "home." I would say it may be possible if the Bruins weren't so good, and he is a big part of that, so even as a UFA, I can see him re-signing there again. Why would you want to leave Boston? Besides, other than Cap space and a roster space, he would probably get only 5th or 6th on the depth chart here, and he is FAR better than that! Hmmmmm, I wonder how he a Lidstrom would play together? That would be cool! Oh well, love ya Aaron! (Btw, while here in Detroit, he lived around the corner from me (Woodhaven/Brownstown area) maybe that is why I am partial to him!) Good Luck Aaron! (unless we play you in the Finals, then "better luck next time!") edit: Gotta love a Wolverine! quick history on Aaron: Drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1st round (5th overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. June 11, 1993: Traded to Detroit by Winnipeg with Toronto's 4th round choice (previously acquired, Detroit selected John Jakopin) in 1993 Entry Draft for Paul Ysebaert and future considerations (Alan Kerr, June 18, 1993), June 11, 1993. July 9, 2001: Traded to Carolina by Detroit for Carolina's 2nd round choice (Jiri Hudler) in 2002 Entry Draft, July 9, 2001. so, for all you Hudler fans out there, you have Aaron Ward to thank for that! (kinda )

..yes it is, and to put to bed the "Card" issue, I will never turn it in again! to go along the lines of another user in another thread, I should have it tattoo'd on my ass!

PWNED! Just kidding!

well a few things, I was a totally different person back then, drinking, marriage problems, UNGODLY debt, concessions at work and a few other things I wish to not get into. I know that doesn't excuse those words, but I am a different person from a year ago... ...second, are you sure I said all those things? I remember some of them, but not all, man I was irate! lastly, how is it that you found all those, is there way to just search replys by a username? That is cool! touche' by the way. That does not sound like someone who is proud of their team or the city, but like I said, a whole different life back then. Really I was only using 9/11 to talk about how the media manipulates the truth to get viewers to believe something. I guess it was a bad (or maybe too sensitive) example. seeing how I used to be really reminds me of how far I have come as a human being, you wouldn't think something as silly as comments in a sports forum would be so profound in someones life, but take that stuff and translate it to real life and that is the type of person I was. I am thankful everyday that I was able to transform myself into a decent human being, and now I thank you for putting that up and reminding of just how bad a person I was in life and how much I have changed. Wow, I look back over the way I was and cringe. I am thankful for everyday, and very thankful for the wonderful people in my life.

I agree, and you are right about each town thinking their superstar is the best. But in a non homer position, I do think Overchkin is far better than Crosby (as I thought Mario was better than Wayne) and would rather see him on the commercials than Crosby. On a side note though, I never thought Lindros was better than Fedorov during the 90's, though. Your points are well taken and respected, just a little tired of all the snuffs from the media, sports-wise and city-wise (of course Kwame-gate didn't help too much in that aspect!)

...don't know, maybe I am just tired of Detroit getting slighted every chance (and I don't mean just the Wings, the entire area as well.) Coming from a city, you have a lot of pride, and everytime you turn around you are getting slapped somehow, someway. Maybe with all the negativity, something, anything, that sheds even a little positive light on my home town, whether it be a hockey player FINALLY being recognized for what he is, or whether it be other media markets saying someting good about this part of Michigan. I grew up when Yzerman was getting slighted left and right, and it just seems that everything that remotely gives a highlight to Detroit, the media tries to overshadow it with something that is far inferior. No, essays are not necessary, but neither are 900 threads on the same goaltending and Franzen subjects. This was a different subject, someting that may generate opinions other than "Trade Filpulla" "Sign Hossa" "Osgood is or is not God." If you don't think the subject is worth replying to, then don't, but don't come and try to knock someone down because your brainwashed by the media and think just because someone has an opinion other than yours, you can make fun. Just turn the channel or lift up the needle if you don't want to hear it... ...that last part wasn't aimed toward you Broken 16, sorry if it seemed that way...
-
...it was more of a comparison on how the media tries to brainwash viewers in to believing someting even though they are seing something different. I could've used anything as an example. I simply chose the biggest media spin job of the modern age. Although you cannot argue the NHL attempts at naming the "Next One" and the extensive media hype machine that tries to drive into your head like a wedge in a log. Even though most fans can see the Datsyuk far outplays Crosby everytime they play against each other, the NHL still tells you that Crosby is the best, not only by running constant promo's and commercials showing the LOSING team in the Cup final, highlight Crosby scoring the first goal Pitt manage to score against us in the series, NOT UNTIL GAME 3 BTW, but not once do they show LIdstrom lifting the Cup, Zetterberg holding the Conn Smythe or the Wings celebrating... ...just a quick question. The commercial on VS. that I am refering to shows Crosby celebrating a goal, but which goal (if you were the NHL) would you put on a commercial to accent to skill of one of your best players, that goal, or Pavel's goal on Turco? How about most any of Pav's breakaway goals? I am just saying, even though you are seeing something in plane sight, the media tells you that you are seeing this way, and no matter how much better Datsyuk looks than Crosby, Crosby is STILL the best in the NHL right now... ...as was Lindros and Roy (good argument here, but he wasn't the invincible man that touted in game 7 2002) and Pronger, yatta, yatta. The day the networks drool all over ANY Detroit Red Wings, is the day I believe 100% of what my Government is telling me! And that day will NEVER come...
-
Hmmmmm, Jagr? Anyone have his stats from Russia? Not that if he DID have to go through waivers he would fal to Detroit anyhow, but I think for a couple of hundreds of thousands dollars he would look good in Detroit. I don't think he would put Edmonton over the top though. But it couldn't hurt. Would suck if Chicago, Calgary, San Jose or Anaheim got a hold of him though. Yikes!
-
...this couldn't be put in the numerous other threads? Just kidding! ...I don't want to think about what this team may look like with out Hossa or Franzen. Which means, they opted to re-sign Hudler instead. :puke: ...#1 priority MUST be Hossa (unless he wants the league max) then sign Franzen or Hudler...
-
...Yes! Just make sure there are no "NO TRADE CLAUSES" included in their contracts. Does anyone know if Zetterberg has one? ...Isn't Franzen a natural center? So if we traded Flip, lost Huds to RFA we'd still have 4 centers in Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen and Draper, right? ...this is so hard to call!!!! I only hope that Hossa stays, I'd hate to lose anyone from the Cup team (or the repeating Cup team) but all three guys, PLUS Leino and bringing up Helm/Ericsson is not feasable!!!! ARRGH!!!!! ...Come on Magic Ken, shows us some of that hoo doo that you doo so well!!!! ...if by some way, Holland figures out a way to Sign ALL three, then there is no doubt in my mind that Gary Bettman will install a Detroit Clause which states you are not aloud to sign a player under his league value, in which, of course, he will be resposible from setting. It just chafs Bettman's ass so much that he HAS to find a way to burn the Wings and I wouldn't put it past him to make a rule/clause in order to undermine Ken Hollands ability to sign players a huge discounts! Of course the Penguins would be exempt from this rule...
-
...I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that the NHL does not award a defensman a trophy that is won for being the "Best Defensive Forward."
-
...if Green or Chara, or anyone for that matter that is not named Lidstrom, win it, it is ONLY because Nick has played like a human this season. That's ok, spread it around, there's always next year, besides I think Nick would rather have a different trophy...
-
..uh, I highly doubt they will be coming to town anytime in the near future. they'll be luck to make the playoffs, let alone all the way to the Cup finals... ...but your point is well taken, I too would choose Filppula over Hudler...
-
...how about just being an adult and saying the actual word, instead of this immature jibberish that is supposed to mean something... ...the jibberish PWNED doesn't even have a real meaning let alone a pronunciation... ...Back on topic. Hossa is priority 1! If we get him for $6 (which is what I have been saying for weeks, but someone has called me dillusional for it. Is this reporter also? Or since he works for ESPN, now it's a possiblity? Just keep your man-love alive for Hudler.) then we should be able to sign Franzen OR Hudler, but not both, unless Filppula is traded...
-
...funny that the Pensfans are all saying "not a big deal, it's only regular season." Yet WAAAAAAAAY back in Novemeber when they came back to win in OT, the fans were already talking Stanley Cup Parade... ...I thought the Avsfans were bad... ...didn't watch one bit of it, damn sewage back up! Anyhow, does ANYONE know where I can catch it, even after it is over? Someone, somewhere has it, I just know it! TIA
-
...yes, but Hudler is going to cost more than Franzen. You let Franzen walk, you get nothing in return. You let Hudler walk, he gets a qualifying offer, you get compensated with draft picks... ...which one makes more sense?
-
...well, ALL of this is just speculation anyhow, NONE of us know exactly what Holland is thinking or our FA's... ...would Hossa sign for a Zetterberg type number? Maybe yes, maybe no. I do know one thing, NOBODY, not even the hocey experts expected Hossa to sign here for $7.45 million last off season, so who know what he is thinking! ...it is of my opinion (which all of us have and I love reading all the differnet ones) that Hossa and Franzen will both re-sign here. Holland will trade Filppulla giving us $12.4 million in cap space and Hudler will be the one to leave (unless he signs for a similar contract he is on now) because if he gets qualifying offer of at least $2.6 million the Wings will receive a 1st and a 3rd round draft pick. $12.4 million is plenty of money to give Hossa (with a Zetterberg contract,) Franzen (giving a hometown discount,) Leino (who will have to prove he is worth more than $1million, so he will sign for another $875,000,) and also bringing up Ericsson, Helm and Howard (or re-signing Conklin.) This brings the Wings to just under $13 million, but Holland can crunch the numbers in a way to make it all fall below the cap, especially when you are only talking hundreds of thousands and not millions... ...delusional? Maybe, but again, none of us thought that Hossa would sign here to begin with, considering his value. Who's to say he is not still in that mindset? ...I guess it hinges on Franzens willingess to sign here cheap. You know Nick will be talking to him, but if he wants $5million, then let him go I guess, then we will see what Hudler wants and if he wants $5 million the I guess we lethim walk as well. Leino may not be able to replace Hudlers offense, but at the price differnce, he will do just fine. So if that is the case, sign Hossa, trade Flip, let Huds AND Franzen leave, sign Leino, bring up Helm, Abdelkader, Ericsson & put Meech in at forward every night! Now that doesn't look too good for next season, but what can you do in this cap world? Bottom line is, you must have Hossa on this team. (at a reasonable price)
-
...next NN will come back and tell you to keep your reality in check and go on how Hudler is more important now to the Wings than Hossa is and Fedorov EVER was! ...NN has such man love for Hudler. Maybe the two of them came up with the "cluck" after a night of sexual discovery!
