...uh, Joe Kocur? Marty Lapointe? Bob Rouse? Vladdy? We had plenty of gritty players, we didn't need McCrappy then and we didn't need him last year... ...Aaron Downey can more than be the grit we need. Hopefully he gets tons of playoff time next year and McCarty can go back to Flint... ..all I was saying is that no way Brown is on a lessor line than McCarty, even though there were no set lines combos with Bowman, so at anytime, anyone was with anyone...
-
...it's relevant because, Doug Brown was more important to those 2 Cup teams than McCarty was. Period. And to suggest that Doug Brown was a 4th liner and McCarty was a top liner is absolutely assinine... ...Who tied the Washington game when we were severely outplayed? And on a completely individual effort? Exactly. Anyhow back to the original topic... ...yeah, McCarty sucks...
-
...yeah, considering the player Greg Johnson turned out to be! Man I wish he could have stayed around for those Cups...
-
...there were no set lines, besides Doug Brown WAS NOT 4th line... ...Brown was more important to this team than FagCarty (that is why Kocur was part of the grind line, and prior to that, LaPointe was) so if anyone was 4th line it was him... ...McCarty = Waste of roster position then as well as now...

...of course he's gonna mention Pitt to the Pit media, what athelete do you know that is gonna say negative things about the city he is or has just currently played for? Hossa: "Sheet, I'd neve come back to this crybaby whining team EVER! They have no concept of winning, expect to cry and whine for calls when they lose. The coach stinks and Cindy Crysby is the most overrated player I've ever played for!" Hossa: "Fudge! Why did it have to be Detroit??!?! That is like the worst team to ever play for! I guess I'll make the best of it!" REALITY: "I'd lke to play for a winning team and Pittsburgh is probably on my short list" "Of course Detroit could be one of those teams too!" Then AFTER he signs: "I really hate Detroit, I am just here to make some money, win a Cup and increase my value and get the f*ck out!" ...of course, he is gonna say everything poitically correct... ...f*ck the crybaby Pitt fans, boy are gonna boo him!

...I am not talking goals of significance, just amzing sick goals... ...this was a great effort to follow the puck, BUT there was much amazing about besides the fact that it somehow found the net. The setup was average and Zetterberg was lucky to get his back-hand on it and it was fortunate to find the net. It is a great goal, but I think Val's was better...

...but, to the credit of managment, they offered Fedorov his huge contract and he told them to wait until the season was over because of his pending divorce and he just hired a new agent. That was in December of 2002, I believe he had his mind made up then that he was leaving, because that was actually MORE money than he got from Ahaheim. Also, remember 1997-98? He was briefley a Hurricane (on paper) until Holland matched the offer, so I think (as much I like Feds) he didn't want to be here then, he was having ego problems then. But yeah, no comparison to Hossa leaving Pittsburgh...
-
...for those of you that don't know, Fedorov scored #400 WITH Detroit... ...this is an ESPN article from when Fedorov first signed with Anaheim... http://espn.go.com/nhl/news/2003/0719/1582918.html ...even hockeydb.com has Fedorov scored 400 with Detroit...

...no way McCarty gets in ahead of Maltby OR a healthy Kopecky...

...and living in those places you do not see the race card everyday. Living in areas dominated by "minorities" (which would actually make me the minority) the race card is used on a daily basis and used to the advantage of getting something that that certain someone doesn't derserve or didn't earn... ...outside of your "white" states, this is reality. And to think, Michigan voted to abolish affirmative action, and yet, it, affirmative action STILL runs wild...
-
...mark this thread up as summer boredom, but looking back prior to winning in 1997, are there ANY former Wings that were traded or let go PRIOR to winning the Cup you wish would have won at least ONE of our Cups... ...I don't mean Wings prioir to 1980 either, they had to have played in the 80's or early 90's... ...mine are: Probie, Dino, Burr and Spuddy...
-
...no problem, but nah, no biggie, just had it laying around in my stuff. Been a fan since 79-80 so we have a few things lying around! ...glad I could help! of course you'll have to photo the finished product and post it for all of us to see! Jersey and Pic together!
-
...I thought the NHL decided that each team will play each other at least once every year?
-
hey stevieboy give me your email address I think I got what the doctor ordered! ok, Stevieboy, the pic is on it's way! It's scanned in 1080 pixels for supreme clarity and I left it 8 x 10 so you don't need to adjust it. There are no watermarks or copyrights on this photo. It's yours to do with what you want. Enjoy! Be sure to print it on high quality preferences on supreme paper!

...Homer will retire a Wing, BUT at the end of this contract he will probably given a series of 1 year deals just because the Wings like to honor thier life-longers with reward and thank you contracts. He'll be here for a while, much like Draper and Maltby will be given contracts until THEY want to retire...
-
...just don't give him a No Trade/Movement Clause and if he ends up being an average player, move him for some draft picks...
-
...I would have to put Ray Sheppard in their somewhere, he was a 50 goal scorer here... ...problem is their are TOO many great Red Wings of the past 15 years! Ciccarelli is another one. Sure I know you are just looking for the top 10, but I think for offensive numbers, Ray Sheppard should be there. Maybe omit Draper, put him at 11 or 12... ...and as much as well ALL love Vladdy and have an emotional spot for him in our hearts, I think Larry Murphy would rank in the top 10 Red Wings before Vladdy (in comapring D-Men.) 1. Yzerman 2. Lidstrom 3. Fedorov 4. Shanahan 5. Osgood 6. Zetterberg 7. Datsyuk 8. Murphy 9. Doug Brown 10. Holmstrom ...it's tough to rank 10, if you go by all your requirements sure it's a little easier because of some of the players longevity, but just as important Drapers defensive skills were imparative to this teams success, so was Brett Hull's and Luc Robitaille's offensive skills, along with Ray Sheppard. Now if you factor in JUST the playoffs, then you get a whole new list because you'd have to add McCarty with is knack for scoring in the playoffs, it is so difficult, so I went with just general production and importance regular season and playoff... (11. Ciccarelli 12. Sheppard 13. Larionov 14. Kozlov 15, 16, 17, 18... SHEESH! SEE WHAT I MEAN! )

...we know and the hockey world knows that this is the reason he has no job in the NHL... ...BUT, it is because of his race that this is an issue. Why? Because what is the first thing a minority does when they don't get what THEY feel the deserve? EXACTLY, they pull the race card out. You can GUARANTEE if Emery were American or if hockey were a more popular sport, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be all over this, marching on the NHL headquarters, protesting to the NHLPA until Emrey was GIVEN a job in the NHL, much like a lot of companies and businesses and other sports are. Remember when the Lions were fined because they didn't interview a minority during their search for a coach, when they ALREADY had the guy they wanted in Marucci? Gimme a break! I bet if the Lions hired Dennis Green without interviewing Mariucci, NOTHING would have been said! Much like the hundreds of Caucasion NHL players that go to Russia/Europe to play every year because they are no longer good enough for the NHL and not one word is mentioned about racism... ...f*ck Ray Emery, he, like millions of others who have played the race card unjustifiably, has givin his OWN race a black eye. Oops, I guess I should have said a bruised eye... ...oh and f*ck every one that playes the race card. IF YOU DON'T DESERVE/QUALIFY FOR THE JOB THEN YOU DON'T GET IT. YOU GET NOTHING, YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR!!! edit: and the guy below me is right, this thread may get ugly and I expect this post to be deleted and as a result this issue, much like racism is today, will be brushed under the rug without being resolved and then it will be Poor Ray Emery, the Man has kept him down too...

Redmond Datsyuk or Zetterberg

...which is why Ted Nolan should accept an asst. role hear for that chance to win a Cup. Then who knows, after he wins a Cup or two, other teams will be knocking on his door begging him to be their Head Coach... ...not question here! KENNY! DO IT! NOLAN! ACCEPT IT!
-
...and I am quoting you cause we actually agree on this, imagine that! ...anyhow, yeah, if Nolan would want to be an asst. would be the only question, but if he wants to win a Cup, maybe he should consider being one, since, even factoring in the "repeat factor" Detroit IS favored to win again. And last I checked, they are really the only favored team with an open coaching position. PLUS, he would bring a ton of coaching experience to the already top flight staff. He's been a great coach for a long time (on some crappy teams) and really deserves a shot at the Cup! Holland shoud have already been on the phone! Maybe he has and Nolan is not interested or maybe he would cost too much, but heck, to repeat an infamous quote on this forum... ...GET IT DONE KENNY!
-
...can you say, next Associate Coach for the Detroit Red Wings...
-
...c'mon! Even better than Adam Oates and Paul MacLean for Bernie Federko and Tony McKegney?
-
98 Yzerman Ray Bourque or Nick Lidstrom
-
...so using this logic, Yzerman was also a hired gun... ...As a matter of fact, the entire league are ALL hired guns! ...wow...
