Honestly, I wouldn't be too upset with the "no top 3 in consecutive drafts" The last place team would just drop automatically to #4. The last 5 picks at #4: 16 - Puljujarvi 17 - Makar 18 - Tkachuk 19 - Byram 20 - Raymond Then they next season they would be able to get a top 3 pick if they are awarded.

all of this is why Blashill is THE problem. Just get this season over with. It's obvious Yzerman is not going to make any moves (acquiring) to make this team better this shortened season, he isn't going to fire Blashill and staff, so lets just get to the TDL and get some picks, get the season over, PLEASE win a top 3 lottery pick and CLEAN HOUSE (coaches and some pending UFA's) over the summer. I am just so frustrated (again) watching this season. We have better players than last season, and Blashill (and Co.) have not made this team perform any better. I hate this coaching staff. It's time for a sweeping change.

But is that because he may not be as good as we thought, or is it the coaching? I blame the coaches for a lot when it comes to making plays and technical issues, but at some point it has to go on the players decisions (or lack of) on the ice as well.

I don't think our situation will get any worse though, anyone that would become a UFA or RFA was already going to be protected (Bertuzzi) or unprotected (all of our UFA's.) MAYBE if Yzerman does not acquire a D man (Deangelo) then Merrill gets the 3rd protect. I think I would protect Stecher, Hronek and Merrill if I had to. I am not too sure Yzreman is impressed enough with Cholowski or Lindstrom to protect them. Especially if he acquires a D.

I wouldn't mind Yzerman picking Galchenyuk off waivers. BTW, how did he come to be on the Hurricanes? He was signed by Ottawa this off season, but I didn't see any type of prior transaction/waiver movement for him until today.

ya, this may be the or near the end for DD. If he clears and is out for the rest of the season, I can see a LTIR for his final year. I like DD, but he just did not turn out as he was expected to. Yzerman is slowly "dealing" with Holland's Red Wing's. I too hope this means DeAngelo is coming, but I hope it doesn't cost too much in return.

I would still like him here...sorry, don't want to offend anyone, but if he a Staal played as linemates the last 2 seasons, it would only HELP this team more because you could expect for TDA to play with him here (barring Blashill screwing things up) and he would have similar on ice output. I say trade them one of our 3rds and get him and a 4th. The only thing this would do for the expansion draft is expose both Lindstrom and Cholowski (in Yzerman was protecting one of those to begin with) and right now, that would not upset me. I like Stecher, Hronek and Merill on this team, next season replace Staal with Seider and the addition of TDA, you cannot argue that the D is better.

Honestly, we should've snagged him off waivers. All Yzerman has to do is tell him, leave your dumb s*** at home, if ANY gets brought here, it's back to waivers (if that is possible.) ....Or it's curtains for you!

So these teams over the cap have until tomorrow to make their LTIR designations or make some deals. The only teams that I see that DO NOT have anyone even listed on IR is Toronto and Vegas, the others all have players listed on IR and for surely will move enough to the LTIR to get under. Interested in seeing what TOR and VEG do. All four of those guys would have to clear waivers, but with GR playing, and Yzerman wanting the kids playing (basically the ones with waiver exemption) then our Taxi squad is going to be filled with players that need to clear waivers no matter what. so with GR playing this season, and Yzerman wanting the kids (waiver exempt) to play instead of sitting, it seems we are going to have to fill the taxi squad with a bunch of players that we assume nobody will ****** off the waiver wire. Probably why he plucked Djoos so he could use players like Hicketts, McIllrath, Biega and Lashoff for the taxi squad. Probably means Ras, Brome and Smith go to GR as well. unless Svechnikov does not heal. of course what does this mean for players on loan? do they come back to The AHL? can they?
