...honestly, it's time to move on. How many "One more cup" season are the Wings gonna have before their prospects cannot be reassigned to GRR anymore? If Ericsson or Kindl are ready then, someone has to go. Chelios already said he'll be back FOR SURE, meaning he will pretty play for peanuts to remain the 7th defenseman. Who's expendalbe? Lilja or Lebda...

...does anyone have the entire parade on DVR? TIVO? I went out of town yesterday and set to DVR it and recored 4 hours from 9am to 1pm on NBC/Channel 4. Unfortunatey DVR doesn't record the show until it's over, it records until the time block is over, so at 1pm it ended, right when Lidstrom was on the WDIV stage talking to Carmen and her partner (Scillion?) anyhow, who very much appreciate it for my collection, I have every WIN and the entire night of celebration from Channel 4 and The NHL Network. Thanks In Advance... ..oh yeah, also Channel 4 aired something at 8pm last night, I also would like that if possible, please and thank you!

...all this reminds me of when the NHL had it's "NEXT ONE." Remember when Eric Lindros was the savior and everything was about him? Well look what happened to him with all the pressure of saving the NHL on his shoulders. Good Luck Sidney, don't put your head down too much thinking your untouchable or immune from an open ice "shiver..."

...I am glad Downey will get on. He was SO important to this team early on, must have killed him not to play in ONE playoff game. I am sure he is glad that he gets his name on the cup and actually was instrumental in getting the Wings to where they got before the playoffs. I hope they re-sign him, I don't know why he would want to go anywhere else considering that this team has to be a favorite to repeat or at least compete for the next few years. Take a league minimum and hang around and possibly win a couple more Cups... ...or, jet off to Anaheim and don't. LOL! Schneids and Bertuzzi have to be kicking themselves in the ass!! HAHAHA!

...after this season's result (I cannot believe we're talking about UFA's ALREADY!) I say NO to Sundin, Forsberg, etc, etc, etc... ...If they can get Feds for $200,000 I'll take him, but other than that, sign Stuart & Downey and give Helm, Abdelkader and Ericsson their chance to be the back-ups... ...hard to argue with a Stanley Cup winning roster, but really will the likes of Lilja or Sammy, McCarty or Drake be around next season? We'll see, I guess those answers would have been easier had the Wings NOT won the Cup. Good thing is, Helm and company are already Wings, so even if Sammy and Lilja are re-signed, they could eventually lose their starting jobs to the above mentioned. Other than getting Zetts signed before 2009 UFA, they should offer Stuart and Downey contracts to keep them here... ...UFA time is less than a month away!!!! YIKES!!!
-
...if, in this day and age of Salary Caps and UFA's, they can keep their team together. A huge amount of stars, will they be able to afford them all? Hossa is more than likely gone, rumor has it Malone is a goner as well (this from a Pens fan I work with) so there are two pieces that got them as far as they did....

...I will aplogize to Hudler :puke: ...He did great, but he is still not Omnipotent!

...I am probably the biggest whiner when it comes to Ken Holland. I still wish we could've gotten Fedorov, but, after I heard that Columbus wanted Filpulla, was glad Ken Holland didn't give him up. I am still not the biggest Ken Holland fan, but I cannot argue his hockey smarts. I guess that if I were that hockey smart, I would be a GM too. It was a great job by Holland NOT making the Fedorov deal and I apologize to all the Red Wings faithful on here that I spewed a lot of junk about the non-trade... ...I guess if I want my official Lets Go Wings.com "Fan" status back I have to start new and be on probabtion! I'll take it. I am still hoping Fedorov comes home to finish his career (ala Dallas Drake) and hope that Holland can find room on his Stanley Cup roster for him, but I will not( and this is a promise) whine about it if he doesn't re-sign him. More importantly for me now, I hope Holland finds room to keep Stuart since I believe he was invaluable to this team during this Championship run. Hopefully he doesn't cost too much, for obviously Zetterberg is gonna get top dollar wen he signshis contract. Cheers to Ken Holland and Cheers the Wings and Cheers to ALL OF YOU!!! ....We'll see you on Draft Day!

...how about the Pittsburgh Cindy's... ...or the Kansas City Crosby's... ...I heard that the NHL will now be called the NCHL, you guessed it, the Natioanl Crosby Hockey League... ...honestly, other than taking after his coach and whining too much, I like Crosby. I thought he was gonna dive all over the place, he didn't. I thought he was gonna get the namby pamby calls, he didn't. He needs to get out of Pittsburgh though, the more he lives and plays for Mario the bigger whiner he will become. Monkey see, Monkey do...

...now now, gonna play devils advocate here. The Wings have been winning for a VERY long time. They have been good since about 1987. BUT, when the Dead Wings were playing in the late 70's and early 80's, nobody went to those games either. I remeber my mom's store (Perry Drugs) used to get her free tickets from somewhere ( I was very young) and we used to go all the time. We went to one of the first games at the Joe and even when Ilitch bough the team, he had car give-away's to intice fans to come to the Arena. So even the Wings fans were doing something else when the Wings weren't winning. Back in the early 80's all we had were the Tigers and that's pretty much where our money was spent when it comes to sports... ...back on subject, I will be praying for a win tonight, but I am very comfortable if the Wings need to come back home for game 7. Just hate giving these Pens more and more confidence. I think if Malkin can get something to go in, he'll light it up after that, lets keep him down Wings and bring that Cup home tonight!!!
-
...I'll get nervous when the Wings are down by a goal in game 7 (if necessary) with 34 seconds to go. Man, they were that close!!! I really didn't see what happened, how the heck did they not get the puck out of the zone? Guess I was blinded by the Stanley Cup images in my eyes (as were some of the Wings I think.) ...anyhow, Wings will win tonight if they play with the effort they played with last game. Take away Kronwall's "goal" and the Wings win. Bounces happen, oh well. Fortunately Bounces don't happen like that every game. Game winning goals don't bounce of ref's skates every game. You don't get called for 4 penalties overtime ever, Hudler's was a good call, but the two goalie interference plus Pittsburghs hooking call were ALL crap! This is OT, let them play! BTW, Hudler's penalty could have been let go, I seem to remeber Lidstrom getting a highstick in the chops that drew blood and BOTH refs looked the other way... ...Bounces happen, penalties are called, non-penalties are called. Bounces happen, for some reason I believe we are gonna see a bounce again tonight, Pittsburgh being bounced. I was hoping to see the Cup won in Detroit, but game 6 will do...

...yeah sounds like the Miami Heat's golden boy a few years ago! Wade this Wade that, Wade gets his Championship and now Wade has....yuck....Star Jones....belch! ...but if it were Detroit down 2-0 it wouldn't be "What Detroit Must Do..." it would be, "The Pens Are Unstoppable! Crosby is God!!! Roberts Grit Carries Pens Passed All! All Hail Pittsburgh!" or *X-Team*...

Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins
LeftWinger replied to betterREDthandead's topic in General
...this is my only question. How many SCF games do the Penguins players have under their belts? I am not sure on the entire roster, but does ANYONE have even 1 game played in a SCF's? ...turn the record over and see the Wings lineup, and the experience they have in SCF's... ...give the Pens credit for have hunger to get there, but to get there and then actually win it is a whole new ballgame... ...I hope there is no sweep either way. This (on paper) sets up to be one of the most talented SCF (on both sides of the puck) since I cannot remember when... ...I just don't want to hear all the Crosby knobgobbling on the VS./NBC networks OR the CBC. Man I wish Ken and Mickey could do our local broadcasts... ...BRING BACK CHANNEL 50! BRING BACK CHANNEL 50! We want Ray Lane!!!! ...maybe I'll turn on 97.1 and listen to Ken and Paul while watching the TV... ...for any of you Pens fans, good luck! If you just happen to NOT win the Cup this year, keep supporting your team, if your GM doesn't make a huge amount of changes, your core will learn from their mistakes and be back again... ...if you do happen to win the Cup, then thank the refs and Gary Bettman! ...I hear Sid's a diver, I certainly hope he doesn't do any Greg Luganis acts, I'll puke... (unless he wants to smack his head on the ice like Greg did the board...) -
...I certainly hope McCarty is not playing. s***, put Abdelkader in... ...Wings win tonight, no overtime, no worries, at least 5 goals for the Wings tonight, Dallas maybe 1...

...wow, isn't crazy how Dallas can all of a sudden dominate Detroit in every aspect of the game? Detroit cannot hit the net, they can't get around any Dallas player, Datsyuk has NO take-aways, Zetterberg looks like he's skating in mud and Osgood let in two soft goals after stopping nearly everything thrown at him. Wow, Ironic is all I have to say, it's like someone turned a switch and all of a sudden Detroit looks like a peewee team and Dallas looks like...., well, looks like Detroit! Gee, if it isn't obvious what's happening then you guys are deaf, dumb, blind AND Stupid... ...what is McCarty doing on this team? ...the NHL loves storylines, Turco never won in Detroit, WOW, look at this "non-hockey fan" what a story we have here! Only two teams have ever come back from 0-3 to win the series, WOW, look at this huge storyline, "Underdog team makes NHL history coming back 0-3 in a series to win it!" That is what Bettman wants....mark it down...
-
...why not just wish that Bettmans plane would crash on the way to the interview? ...anyhow, the Wings losing Game 4 just generated millions upon millions of dollars for the NHL and both the Detroit/Dallas organizations... ...now there is guaranteed at least 3 more games at the JLA and that gave Illitch a ton of cash in his pocket as well as the NHL gets a ton of money for every game played. This is the reason, Holland/Illitch are not TOO upset about losing game 4. It's all about making the money, sure they want to win the Cup, but if they won the Cup and made a ton of cash in doing so, he hits the jackpot! If the Wings would have swept Dallas, and then swept Pitt/Philly that would only give Illitch 2 more games at the Joe, now he is at least guaranteed 2 (if this series goes 7) and 4 if the Wings win it in 7. 3 games for sure if they win saturday, and that spells lots of revenue for Wings/Stars/NHL. The only losers are the fans who had to watch that display of garbage last night by the refs...
-
:caution: ...I think that about says it all for you, oh yeah, IDIOT...
-
...hey refs, don't do us any favors by calling everything in the last 2 minutes of the game! Someone said Wings were 0 for 6 on the PP, well that first GOAL, yes it was a goal, was a powerplay goal, it also put the Wings up 1-0, huge momentum change if the Wings have the lead. If that goal stands, Dallas doesn't win this game... ...horrible game by the refs, unbelievable, but I mentioned this after game 2 to a Dallas fan, I said something like Dallas will be lucky to go 5 if the refs give them a game in Dallas, and low and behold, here it was. I guess it's good that Osgood got his loss out of the way, we all knew he wasn't gonna win every game up until they hoist the Cup. He's human... ...would have felt better if the Wings had actually lost this game fair and square, but much like the gas prices, what are you gonna do? I know the Stars cannot feel like they won this game on their own merits, Wings goal should have counted, Stars goal shouldn't have, should have been 2-1 Wings after Zetterberg scored... ...enjoy the game Bettman? I am sure you were there to make sure YOUR refs did their job as you instructed them to, did they do a good job for you? Wanna bet he instructs them to do the same Saturday so Turco can get a win in Detroit? I bet it happens and they have to go back to Dallas for game 6...
-
...at risk of sounder like a homer, but it's obvious that the refs are giving the Stars every chance to NOT be eliminated. Holstrom goal should've have counted, Stars goal shouldn't have. Even if Holmstrom's ass was over the crease, fine, call the goal off, but don't NOT call it when every inch of ericsons body was in the crease on their goal that counted... ...I knew a game like this was coming, it's the only way the Stars have a chance, lets hope it doesn't continue into game 5...
-
...all this "Cup Final" talk is annoying as well, but, yeah, the Stars have to win the next four to beat the Wings and that includes 2 more at the Joe, where Turco, well, we know what happens to Turco at the JLA... ...Greensberg should go back to hollywood and and ESPN should leave the NHL to us...
-
...exactly, just like in this Dallas series as well as the Colorado one, it's not that the Wings are tearing them up, it's that Dallas is making mistakes, Colorado made mistakes, vould it be that Detroit is CAUSING them to make mistakes? Of course not... ...and when this Dallas series is over (hopefullt tonight) it'll still be that Dallas beat themselves and Turco STILL has the adantage in goal over Osgood... As a matter of fact, I think they are still saying Theodore and (who was Nashville's goaler?) still the the adavantage over Osgood...
-
...that's all fine and dandy, there's no doubt who their money will be going on, personally, but on a national level, who is the "POSTER BOY" of the NHL? Who is the NHL already blowing every chance it gets? The fact that Crosby was given to the Pens (yes I said it, lottery was fixed) they can be classified as a Bettman team, so who will the media be blowing all series long? CBC is simple, they are gonna blow the Canadian boy over the Euro's, that is a no-brainer... ...NBC/VS. will have to promote Crosby every chance they get, so the annoucers will have no choice BUT to nob-gob on Sid...
-
...no...no...no...If the Wings and Pens meet in the finals, we are gonna hear SOOOO much Crosby knob-gobbling you'll think Patrick Roy was playing in one of those Game 7's that he never, ever lost... ...and that'll be from BOTH VS./NBC and CBC...
-
Them's fignt'n words there! I hope you ACCIDENTLY mispelled his name and didn't do it on purpose to slight him...
