...I agree, if you read my earlier post I said I am glad Holland DIDN'T make tht deal and I am tired of teams trying to RAPE the Wings and then accept WAAAAYYYY lesser deals from someone else for the same player. I am now talking general opinion. If, come UFA season, you had to choose to either re-sign Sammy or sign Fedorov, which would you rather do? ...if you are wondering, considering what Columbus got from Washington, the MOST I feel the Wings should have had to offer them would have been Francis Lemieux. All things considered. And if they wanted more from us to trade wihtin the divsion I would have thrown the rights to Grigorenko in there for the hell of it! ...seriously though, this is why we need an arbitration board for these trades. Trades should be fair for everyone, just because the Wings are the elite and the rest of the NHL, well, aren't, doesn't mean a team should be able to rape them... ...like I said, here's to Holland siging Fedorov in July and having BOTH he and Filpulla on the 2nd line and just tearing Columbus up each time they play! Take that salt in yor wound Columbus!!!
-
...my only question to ALL is, who would you rather have on the point during the powerplay? Sammy or Fedorov?
-
...you won't have to worry when they try to sign Kolzig over the summer...

Feel for the Aves? ...love the avatar! Who is the guy falling?

...all right allright, enough with puttings word in my mouth! J/K! I read the article and as much as I am a harsh critic of Holland (rightly so on some occasions) I am a worse critic of teams trying to rape Detroit because of the winning history. To ask for a NHL roster player AND a 1st round pick for Fedorov and then trade him for a mid-level prospect!?!?!?! Two things happened here. #1- Columbus tried to rape Holland and then 2, when Holland refused to part with what they wanted, they ask for FAR less from Washington to spite Holland and rub salt in the wound. No team wants to make Detroit any better, since they have been the NHL's ELITE since in early 90's, so if they are going to make them better, they are gonna try to rape them in return. This happens all the time, teams ask for the moon from Holland and then accept less from somewhere else. I am encouraged by the article and the fact that despite Babcocks reservations on Fedorov that Holland wanted him anyhow, this gives me something to look forward to July 1st. Maybe Holland WILL offer Fedorov a contract and then he will have the last laugh when Babcock puts Fedorov and Filpulla on the same line and they wipe Columbus' ass up and down the ice everytime they play next year!!! Revenge is sweet! ...I can see some of your reactions now, , that may be close. Surprised I am not saying exactly what you guys thought I would say. Hey, I have come around on the Euro's I guess I can give Holland a little credit where credit is due. Hey, trade day, draft day and July 1st are very stressful times for Wings fans, so I overreact alot when it comes down to certain things. I should have seen the rape Columbus was trying to put on Holland, I thought he didn't want Fedorov because Babcock didn't want him. I am enthused that he actually did, that is great news. That doesn't mean I am back on the Wings card, I am a little upset that they didn't address their secondary scoring, but at least now I know they tried to! ...this may sound surprising, but Good On Ya Holland! Although I wanted you to trade for Feds, that was a lot to ask for in return, glad you didn't do it! I just hope you offer him something come UFA day!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Mike Modano and his 10 year old brother. Really that is Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks, he does look 10 though doesn't he! ...crazy...
-
...hey Arice, make a note, I am not the first one to mention Hall for this upcoming UFA season...
-
...well, that's not saying much for our teams grit if you are relying on Cleary and a guy who hasn't played for nearly 2 years in the NHL as our grittiest players. I think that we are in huge trouble if Cleary is our grittiest player, so when he comes back he is gonna solve our problems with grit and scoring? Is he the power forward we needed the Brendan Shanahan type? Dan Cleary and power forward, thats an oxymoron... but hey, good luck to McCarty at least he'll put butts in the seats at JLA...
-
...and for Wings fans sake, I hope he helps. He should, but I am just tired of hearing Holland's crap. But, hey, bottem line, what do I know? If I knew, I'd have a different career...
-
...besides your valid points, add to that, if he fills any of our needs, he will not be signed by Holland, because that is what Holland does, bypassess any and all players that fill our needs in order to save money for washed-up goaltenders and soft players like the majority of our team is made up of. Our team makes for a great regular season team, I look forward to many more Presidents Trophies and Norris Trophies and Selke's and possibly a Hart or two. But forget about Stanley...

...I am not against Stuart. If you read, I said that should help keep the opposing goals down. But, the need was for a stay at home hard hitting Defensman and a top 6 winger/scorer. He didn't get either in Stuart. Stuart is much like Kronwall. Sure he can hit pretty good and chip in some points. I am happy with the aquisition of Stuart. But they better hope Hasek can score a goal or two because teams have figured out ZDH if you haven't noticed and nobody else seems to want to step up their game. So expect us to lose alot of one goal games in the playoffs something that could have been addressed at the deadline (along with Stuart) for the price of barey anything, if not for a personal vendetta...
-
...no, I am not going with the odds. But, the Wings odds would have been better if they would have addressed the lack of secondary scoring. McCarty just ain't gonna cut it. But Holland put someone's personal feelings ahead of the good of the team, so, in turn, dooming the Red Wings to another Cup-less summer due to that fact. It didn't have to be Fedorov, it could have been someone else, BUT Fedorov would have cost the least and in turn given us the most secondary scoring of players we could have afforded to pick up. ...no, you won't have to read posts, once they lose, you guys will already feel like what I would have written anyhow. And when Holland comes out and says "We lacked secondary scoring." I won't need to say anything, because they could have had that addressed for the price of a prospect that woud probably never crack the Detroit lineup anyhow... ...and ARice, no Fedorov is not that valuable in the NHL, but if all he would have cost was a low prospect, he would have added much needed scoring help from someone other the ZDH. And if he didn't work out then what would we have lost? A center or winger who probably would never make our lineup anyway. The pros outweighed the cons, but someones PERSONAL FEELINGS outweighed the good of the team in this case. If and when this comes back to haunt Detroit, I don't want to hear the same rhetoric from Holland as we have been hearing since Konstantinov got hurt, because I am doen buying it. Holland is a fool to put a personal vendetta over the good of the team. Watch as Cleary and McCarty disappear and forget to show-up in the playoffs, that'll be our downfall. Oh and we can always use the excuse that Lidstrom wasn't 100% and that is why we lost... ...For your's and other Wings fans sake I hope am wrong anf they go on to win the Cup. You can all celebrate and cheer and enjoy it. I for one, am so upset with Hollands garbage, I hope they never win another Cup in 50 years or more. And not because he didn't get Fedorov or Hall, because, much like our own US government, how may lies and deceit do you have to listen to until you've had enough? No more for me...

double post,sorry

...well, I am not gonna ***** when they lose I am gonna laugh and listen to you guys ***** when Holland says we need a big defensman and secondary scoring, only to wait all summer for our aging UFA's and lose out on the quality UFA"s. But wait, we got McCarty and "he has playoff experince." -Ken Holland. I HOPE the Wings lose in the first round. I hope they get swept, I hope they lose all their games 1-0. Something tells me Fedorov could've helped in the secondary scoring department. He could have been here for a low to mid level prospect, BUT someone was being a crybaby and said they were gonna tell mom of Holland got Fedorov, so Holland passed on the good of the team for the feelings on an individual. I don't care if that individual was Babcock or Yzerman or whoever, there is no way they should put their personal feelings ahead of the team. Holland is an idiot for letting that happen... For the record, I haven't mentioned Adam Hall since last summer. But I'd rather have him than Sammy or Hudler if none of them are gonna score at least Hall would cracks some heads against the boards once in a while... ...then again it'd be nice to make it to the SCF's and play Washington and watch Fedorov and Ovechkin make our team look like a bunch of peewee's. Series clinching goal, Fedorov in OT, that would be the ultimate crow for the Managment team of the Detroit Red Wings. Eat it Holland, suck on it...
-
...no, I've learned my lesson on that issue, but I am excited to see this Haken Peupen guy out of Finland... ...j/k, I could care less who and if the Wings sign anyone. I'm done trying to figure out what could work here. Seems Holland would rather have an excellent regular season team rather than a playoff team... ...I am sticking to my guns. I will not support or cheer for this team until Holland is gone. I will continue to read on here and post once in a while, but as a card carrying Wings fan, I'm done. The NHL is a Nancy sport anymore anyway. If Holland is there for another 20 years oh well, then I guess I just fade away as a fan. Have fun cheering for them, I will be back tomorrow to laugh hysterically when they lose again. They lost me when someone put their personal feelings ahead of the team when trying to get Fedorov. Fedorov is still better than everyone on our team not named Zetterberg/Datsyuk or Lidstrom. But that certain someone would go and cry to mom if Holland would've traded for him, so as soon as the General Managment Group started spelling the word team with an I, I decided to turn the card in. No I am not jumping on another team's bandwagon and I look forward to the Wings losing in round one so I can laugh my ass off and listen to Holland say we just didn't have enough secondary scoring (again.)
-
he also seemed positive that he could provide the much needed secondary scoring that we so desperately need this time of year. With Stuart on Zetterbergs wing, we shouldn't be losing 3 or 4 games in a row by the score of 1-0 throughout the playoffs.....oops, Stuart is a defensman? Well, he should help us hold the opposion to 1 or 2 goals per game, that'll help in the playoffs. Can Hasek score from the net?
-
...aw jeez, here we go. Haven't we learned out lesson? We'll all compile a list of players we think the Wings can use, they can definately afford and would make our team better. We'll hear sports analysts talking about how Holland is gonna be a buyer this UFA season and we'll hear Holland on draft day explain to all of us how he wants to add a top 6 scorer and a big defensman. After hearing that, we'll all get excited, make another list of players that would fit in here, help get bigger and better and add scoring punch. We'll show each other our projected line-ups and again listen how "The Hockey Buzz" and "ESPN" all say Detroit is interested in (insert superstar player's name here) and how if the Wings sign this guy they will be instant favorites to win the Cup. Then come July 1st, Holland will have trouble getting his own UFA's to re-sign right away, saying he'll wait to hear from them about their future. He'll tell Chelios and Hasek if they want to come back let him know and he'll wait for them most the summer, sitting idley as most, if not all top level UFA's sign elsewhere for much less than we have all predicted the Wings could afford to pay them because they wanted 5 year deals not 1 year deals. He will eventually re-sign CLeary, Chelios and Hasek to a salary that is WAAAAY overpaying these guys, Hasek will get $4million Chelios $1million and Cleary will get $5.5million and Holland will tell us all how Cleary is an important cog in the machinery that is Hockeytown, only for him to pull a Kris Draper and have his stats drop off almost entirely compared to his "contract" year. Oh yeah, while Holland is waiting for Chelios and Hasek to decide whether or not to retire and while all the quality UFA's sign with our Western Conference rivals, he will sign 34 year old Haken Peupen out of the Finnish Beer League for $2.5 million per season. ...and when asked if he even offered any of the upper level UFA's (Hossa/Rolsten) a contract he responds by saying, "...we like where we're at with our club. Danial Cleary is healthy and signed now for 5 years and we got veteren leadership on the blue line along with argueably the (formerly) best goaltender in the world. We like our core, we have great young players who are going to get more icetime and we were able to retain Lilja for pennies on the dollar, he adds a much needed nastiness to our blue line. We knew the players that were available but when our guys were discussing who we'd like to offer a contract to, not everyone was on board with offering contracts to some of the players who were available on July 1st. We're comfortable with our team and feel we can compete for the Presidents Trophy again this season." (no mention of the Stanley Cup) ...so go ahead, get you wishlists out now, do all the Cap math, make-up all your line combos. Even show some combos with RFA's you wish to have. After you are all done, print it out take it with you to the toilet, read through your wish list and combos while you do your business then when you are done, wipe your ass with it, because Holland will only disappoint again this year as he has done for almost every year he's been in charge.

McCarty was bought out because he made too much money and Lapointe signed in Boston or 5.5 million per year, would you have paid Marty Lapointe that much money? ...one of the worst trades outside of Oates was trading Adam Graves, Joe Murphy, Petr Klima & Jeff Sharples to Edmonton for Jimmy Carson, Kevin McClelland and who knows what other garbage that was included in that deal. The only good thing to come out of this trade was we ended up trading Jimmy Carson to LA for Paul Coffey and of course Coffey was dealt in the Shanahan trade. So, it killed us intially but I guess in the long run it worked out... Kevin Miller for Dino was a good one. Rick Zombo for VIncent "I took a dive" Riendeau didn't work out too well. Of course immediately trading for Doug Brown as soon as he was claimed off waivers by Nashville? he was an essential part of our Stanley Cup wins. Trading Jiri Hudler for Sergei Fedorov at the 2008 trade deadline that will go down as....oh, oops!

just what exactly does that paragraph mean? You were for the war now you're against it, then you voted for the 2 billion dollars and now you wished you hadn't? John Kerry is that you? Hillary?

Damn whoever it was who put themselves ahead of the team by telling Holland to NOT get Fedorov! Kizmit is a son-of-a-b*tch! To whoever cried to momma about Fedorov, you and your team deserves everything you get. Way to lose the last 9 out 10! Say bye bye to that #1 and #2 seed this season! Start booking your tee times! Sure Fedorov may not have made a difference tonight because we actually got some scoring, but like I said Kizmit is a powerful force and just because there was one or two individuals (Babcock) who put themselves ahead of the TEAM, you have doomed your club! Enjoy another 42 years without the Cup!!!! (at least) ...yes Crymson, my card is still turned in... ...Holland sucks and so does his staff... ..oh wait McCarty is the Messiah, all is good...
-
...if he proves me wrong then he'll be lucky. More times than not, he's proven wrong. He has shown nothing in the Cap era, sure we are a great regular season team... I WILL NEVER SUPPORT KEN HOLLAND...
-
...oh really? Well, someone who walks down as narrow of hallway as you do doesn't have an opinion worth reading either... ...for some reason there are a lot of fans on here today that have meaningless opinions aren't there? I am not the only one pissed. Open the eyes and stop sucking Wings. They will lose the #1 seed and they will be out in the 1st and I will continue to post on here about how much of an idiot Holland and this organization is... This is the begining of a downward spiral. Lets drafts some more soft Euro's and lets sign not do a thing on July 1st... That has been Holland for the past 2 to 3 years, and a lot of us are tired of it. You can continue to enjoy your awesome regualr season team, but I want Cups wins. I'd rather finish 4th or 5th and win the Cup instead of 1st or 2nd and lose in the 1st round...
