...well, does that mean he only wants to play for Detroit if traded? Yay! ...he wants a two year extension to stay here for two years after we win the Cup this year? Yay! ...$5 million per year is worth it. I would pay him the money, but it all depends what Toronto wants in return... ...Sundin @ $5 million per year. Get Fedorov and re-sign him at $1.5 million per year... ...get some defensive depth (no big names) and hold on for the ride!!! ...next year, Kindl or Ericsson could make their debut. Meech and Quincey should have jobs and maybe Captain America will stay on for another to take them under his wing...

No, The Enforcer's is the... Look Up!
-
...easy? He may have had it easier after the Wings scored the 4th goal. But in the first period, he made some stellar saves when they needed him to. When it was still 0-0 and 1-0, he stopped some great chances, chances that were going in the last few starts. No, he didn't win it himself, the entire team stepped it up, but they had to with Lidstrom out. (They are going to have to keep it up for a few weeks now.) ...Osgood won't be traded, if the Wings came to him about a trade scenario, he would just retire. This is his last stop (much like Chelios) when he is ready to hang em up, it'll be while he wearing the Winged Wheel... ...but to answer the OP's question. It's much like your job. If you do your job and do it well, you don't hear much about it. Screw up a few times and holy hell comes down. Like the say 'No news is good news." We all know Ozzie played great, just because we aren't on here calling for a Vezina doesn't mean we don't recognize him. It's just easier to say someting when someone plays bad. No news is good news...
-
...so if they want to remain safe with Lidstrom, do we get our first taste of Kindl or Ericsson on Friday night?
-
...I did not see an elbow to the jaw, lets stop those rumors here and now. IF anything, he totally avoided the puck and went after Lidstrom, but the hit was a fraction of a second before Lidstrom kicked the puck with his skate, so if you are fine tooth combing it, it could have been interference, but it was a good hard play. Even if it were interference, that is not dirty... ...not a dirty hit, Lidstrom was caught in a vulnerable position, it happens. Hopefully he'll be back soon...
-
...good, but a knee injury could keep him out until Round 2, which we will not see without him...
-
...yep! Trainer and Zetts after ref kept him from falling on his ass. He did get up on his own and start to skate off, but you could tell he was rocked, that is why he needed help the rest of the way. What would a basketball player have done? They may have needed a stretcher for him...
-
...the knee may be hurting a little, but it looked to me like you got his bell rung! He prolly got the wind knocked out of him, as well as the knee. His head did slam the wall so a consussion is not out of the question. What is out of the question is a Defensive scorng title/Norris Trophy/Stanley Cup if he doesn't come back for the rest of the season... ...and if that is the case, Holland just as well save his money and trades this year, they would be pointless without Lidstrom. Coast into the playoffs, lose in the first round and try it again next year...

...has played good, he is for sure or future goaler. Won't help us in the playoffs this year though. We're doomed...

"YOU TRADED AWAY PAUL COFFEY!?!?! F*ck ME!!!!" -or- "FEEEEEEEGAAAARO, FIGARO FIGARO FEEEEEEEEEEEEGARO!!!! F*ck ME!!!" -or- "I Told You I Cannot Win Without Mark Messier! GET HIM DAMMIT!!! F*ck ME!!!" -or- "The Wings are getting Fedorov?!?!?! F*CK ME!!!!!"

...well if you ask me the Wings better start dealing right now! They officaially need 2 scoring forwards (Fedorov Sundin/Hossa) and a bruising d-man (Foote/Stuart) possibly a goalie. They have officailly been the worst team in the NHL in the month of February, they are threatening to allow teams to catch back up to them. Hell Dallas had a four point swing today. Tomorrow they hace Colorado who they beat last time but they look crappy doing it! Were are officially tanking, our guys are tired, they are losing. If this keeps up, it'll be an early summer for the guys (1st round loss.) ...as of right now the only untouchables on this team should be Lids/Zetts/Dats/Holm. Everyone trade bait. This is about winning not about loyalty, loyalty doesn't win championships anymore. Sure, we shouldn't really panic, but I am pissed off. This team has played like crap for three and a half straight weeks and to lose 6 games in a row?!?! ...I say open the flood gates up, if these guys don't want to win, then get some players who do! Problem is, at the beginning of February we held the trump card on any trade we were seeking beause we weren't in dire need for anyone, except some depth. Now, on the other hand, we desparately need some players to stop the bleeding and other teams know this, now they hold the hand that trumps us! If we wanted Sundin, it would have cost us a roster player, a couple of prospects and some picks, now it'll cost us Roster player's, TOP prospects and first round picks. Holland won't be able to do anything without raping our future. If this bleeding doesn't stop by the deadline and prices go up (like we know they will) I say stand pat with what we got, back into the playoffs, get swept in round 1 and then look forward to July 1st... ...CNN reports that the Dow Jones in down, the NASDAQ broke even, the price for crude oil hits $100 and Fedorov will now cost Hudler/Filpulla/Kronwall/Ericsson and 2 first round picks. We'll be in Iraq for 100 years and there is no end in sight!

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../802160340/1004 ...well, this pretty much guatantees his return. If it doesn't come by trade at the deadline, it'll be by UFA for sure! If we don't aquire him via trade would you guys still be so upset if they give him $1M to come play here in 2008-09 or longer? Get used to the idea! (well maybe more than a million)

...who exactly did we miss out on because we traded for Bertuzzi? Ryan Smith? Keith Tkachuk? Doug Weight? The Wings were in no position to offer what teams were asking. They stole Bertuzzi out of Florida. ALL the analysts had said that was THE trade of the deadline. It almost worked out. IF we would have made it to the finals then the Bertuzzi trade would have been a huge success. We didn't, he's gone and what did we lose? Shawn Mattias (sp) He probably wouldn't have seen ice time in Detroit for about 5 to 6 years... ...That is why the Wings trading a #1 pick is not that big of deal. #1 picks are chosen to play in the NHL, not the AHL. Most of the Wings picks, whether it be #1 or #5 or wherever, don't make the NHL for a couple of seasons. Look at the current Wings roster, how many of their #1 picks are playing right now? Exactly. How many lower round picks are playing right now? How many UFA's are playing that previously couldn't find a home in the NHL, yet are propersing here? Exactly. Fot those of you who don't think Fedorov's game will rebound once he gets here you are sadly mistaken. No, he's not gonna score 60 or put up MVP numbers, but he will score 20-30 and put up Selke like defensive stats. This team and this system makes players better. Where was Cleary before he landed here? How about Sammy? Lilja? Even Maltby or Draper would be hot garbage if they went somewhere else. What did McCarty do when he left? Natta! Look at how Osgood's career took back off since he came back. Look at how long Chelios is playing! If he stayed in Chicago he would have retired years ago! It's the system, it's the compliment of superstars. What did Fedorov do when he left? Exactly, and just like the above mentioned players, there is no reason to believe that when he returns, the same thing wouldn't happen. A 1st and a prospect is definately worth the chance. You're not gonna get Sundin or Hossa, so don't hold your breath. Honestly, it'll take tons more to get either of those and if Feds goes to Ottawa, they are champions...

What is this? More and more people warming up to the idea of Sergei coming home? I cannot believe what I am reading. I have been beating the Fedorov drum pretty much since he left in 03'. All season long I have been talking (along with others, I wan't the only one) about trading for him at the deadline. Now, rather than most people telling me to forget about it, or I hate him, or he'd never come back because he gets booed, or he lazy and he sucks (oh wait, that was some other player ) ...now, a lot of people (who were against, I mean DEAD set against him coming back) are actually supporting the idea? Wow! Welcome to the dark side folks! I have been waiting for you! Just as you guys are warming up to the idea, you will all cheer him when he steps on the ice for the first time! And when he scores that power play goal that gives us a 2 goal cushion on Anaheim in game 5 this season, he will be the king again! I see it, I've seen it and as I have said all year long, he will return, whether at the deadline or UFA. #91 will fly again, on the ice and then in the rafters where it belongs!!! It is set in stone! (even if we're outbid by Ottawa, he will be as a UFA!)
-
...I agree with the Stuart comment, but Fedorov is well worth a 1st and a prospect, especially if other teams are interested in him, you are gonna have to give up a little more in a bid! BTW if Ottawa lands Fedorov, we're doomed. Hand Ottawa the Cup...
-
...does anyone know if Fedorov is playing tomorrow?
-
http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1245593 ...you are not the only one! I am with ya!
-
...that sums it up right there. This is why we need a scoring #2 centerman and a power forward. It's pretty sad when the mighty Red Wings, with all their glory and Hall of Famers, have only 3 ligit scoring powers and they all play on the same line! When your #4 forward is Dan Cleary, you are definately in trouble. Not to mention your #3 d-man being the Charles Rogers of the NHL. That sums it up. One line Team... ...someone please do the math for me, what percentage of the Wings scoring is by ZDH & Lids/Rafal? It's has to be a huge difference between the top 5 guys and the rest of the team...
-
...it's not just this game, look at the last couple of weeks, since the shutout against LA. We have played crappy, barely winning games by tying them or winning them in the last minute or two of regualtion or in OT. Not the way I want to feel going into the home stretch and playoffs... ...maybe guys are getting bored. This could be the NHL's version of August for Baseball (The Dog Days.) Not sure, but another few games of this garbage and I will start to panic!
-
...can we make that trade in between periods and have Feds and Foote here by the start of the 2nd? ...Wings are officially slumping guys, two weeks of playing like less than good... ...make a deal Kenny...
-
...Fed is not gonna come back and score 60 goals (maybe playing with Datsyuk he would) but more realistcally he will score consistantly 20-30 on the second line. He will definately help defensively on the back check. He has playoff experience, tons! While we won't be getting the Fedorov of 1994 or even 1998, but he is not that far off from the Fedorov of 2002, but after failing at what he called "his turn" to have his own team (Anaheim, then traded to the cellar Columbus) just think how it would mentally feel to him to be back on a team that has a ligit chance EVERY year to win the Cup! He's not gonna score 60, but happier and with less pressure, he will provide the secondary scoring that we desperately need... ...package a deal together to get Feds and Foote and that covers 2 out of the 3 areas that most feel we need to address. Secondary scoring and a bruising d-man... ...now to address the grit. Well, I am not sure about the health of Glenn Murray but he seems to be on the outs in Boston. Could that be the "Larry Murphy" deal we are looking for? An aging veteren who needs a a new scene. Honestly, when comes down to the mental upswing a player would have coming to Detroit, I believe that almost anyone would play better here than where they came from. Just the thought of coming from a cellar to Detroit has to excite anyone mentioned in rumors about Detroit (excpet Forsberg, that one still baffles me.) ...If they could add Fedorov, The Yeti and Glenn Murray to this already potent team for the price of a roster player, prospect and a pick or two, I don't think that would upset the team chemistry too much... ...concerning the Kopecky for Feds rumor, I'd much rather rid this team of Hudler and his overrated salary, but, that's just me. I think Kopecky brings a little grit to this team, at least he has some size to him, unlike Hudler...

Trade deadline in 2 weeks. Your one winger, and D.
LeftWinger replied to babygorilla's topic in General
...as much as I'd love to see Fedorov here for the Cup run, he'd have to come cheap. Like a pick or two that's it. Holland isn't going to give up too much for him when he can just sign him in the off-season... ...Now, throw in Foote along with Fedorov and now we're talking a couple of picks and a player, whether or not that is a roster player, GRR or prospect, dunno... ...Fedorov and Foote would be the cheapest and bring us VERY solid playoff performers who can give us what we have lacked the last couple of weeks. A bit more secondary scoring and tougher D... ...They will be cheap especially if Fedorov is still concussed... ...those are my wishes. Fedorov and the Yeti... -
...who says he has to be the 2nd line center? Having Fedorov on your team gives you so many more options. He could play wing on the 1st line with Datsyuk and Holmstrom, or he could play wing on 2nd line with Zetterberg, or center with Zetterberg on his wing along with Filpulla or Franzen (cleary when he gets back.) Everyone is asking "just how do you think his numbes will go back up if he comes back?" The answer? Datsyuk and Zetterberg... Holmstrom Dastyuk Fedorov Franzen Zetterberg Filpulla or Homstrom Datsyk Filpulla Franzen Zetterberg Fedorov ...plug Cleary in there somewhere when he is healthy, the possibilties are wonderful!

...some they this Parros cat is the closet thing to a heavy weight in the NHL? He looked like he was trying to hold on for dear life after Downey clocked him twice... ...Who needs McCarty? Downey has found a home and I hope the Wings re-sign him over the summer...
