...well even if he did, that STILL doesn't mean he wouldn't... ...remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9kZbdnzMRQ ...I guess if he won't then it's down to Sundin - Blake - Fedorov - Foote (with Sundin costing us the most in return.) I think Hossa out of the question, he would cost WAAAAAAY too much. I personallly would like to see a Fedorov/Foote, but those guys are UFA's at the end (not really sure about Foote's UFA or not.) Butif we land Blake and Sundin that would be fine by me... ...anyone give any thought to Glen Murray or Darryl Sydor?
-
...what is with all the "He is so hated, he cannot come to the Wings" garbage? Oh waahh! I hate Roenick, I hate Forsberg, oh God do I hate Fedorov! Get over yourselves!!! Are you going to stop watching the Wings if perhaps they did trade for Roenick or Fedorov or sign Forsberg? I actually hope you all do, that way we don't don't have to hear how you change your tune when they start doing well for us and actually HELPING us! Well guess what, hate them all you want, but if anyone of those guys played here, 1. Our team would be better and 2. You'd end up cheering for them (just llike Chelios) because you are all a bunch of "what have you done for me lately" fans! ...Put JR on this team in place of Drake, Hudler or Sammy and this team is better. While you were at that game did you notice who was the one doing all the hitting? Effectively for that matter? You hate these guys cause they're good at what they do and you cannot stand the fact that every last one of them has to abiltity to hurt the Wings everytime they play against them. Hurt them in more ways than one... ...I would love to see any of those players on our team! ...oh wait, I forgot, and just because you hate them, they are cheapshot artists, lazy and suck, and injury prone, washed up, too old, useless, what else has been used to describe these guys, he's a diver... patheic! ...if the Wings signed Forsberg or traded for Roenick/Fedorov and they scored the game winning goal in the Stanley Cup clinching game, you'd be all over their jocks, signing their praises...
-
...who's better, Cleary of Hudler? Dump Hudler and there's $1,015,000 freed up. Take the 2-3 million he would get from Holland, add Hudlers $1 million and there we have somewhere between 3 and 4 million for someone who deserves it more than Hudler. Hudler blows anyhow, his missed his opportunity this season to prove he belongs and it's obvious he doesn't...
-
...you guys cannot have it both ways! How long have we been screaming about grit and size? "Where's all our 6' plus 200 plus pounders?" Well, Franzen fits that bill and now you want to cast him away and keepo someone like Hudler? Hudler is exactly what we DON'T need anymore of! Too small! Package Hudler and picks for Jokinen and I am all for it! Hate to give up Kronner, I would think that with all his injuries, other teams aren't so high on him as they once were. We may be stuck with the china doll...
-
...I don't see why he wouldn't get some votes... ...The Wings could have many awards. Why not Zetterberg for Hart? Why all know Datsyuk for Bing, maybe Selke? Babcock for Adams, Lidstrom and Rafalski up for Norris and how much consideration would Osgood get for Vezina if he finishes with 25-30 wins and still leads the league in GAA? He'd have to get some, right?
-
... Wow, you obviuosly know what your talking about! Man if he sucks that bad, we should be able to pick him up off the waiver wire pretty soon, eh?
-
...you'll have to excuse him, as well as most of the members on here. They all hate Forsberg because he was an ave. They hate Fedorov because he left. Even though the addition of either of those two would pretty much guarantee us a Cup. Both would cause other teams to file grievances with the league. Add Blake and they'll disqualify us for conspiracy to buy the Cup. These guys are just to afraid to admit the would all love to see Feds back with us. One thing I would change about your lineup, Trade Hudler. He totally sucks, is overrated (on this forum) and pretty much lacks what it takes to make it in the NHL...
-
...Fedorov is STILL better than over half our team... ...BTW it is real. Fedorov will not be overpaid here. The only reason he hasn't been effective is because of the teams he's played on. (that is why Osgood is so good right? Because of the team he plays for? Not because he, himself is that good?) So put Fedorov back on the Wings and he's back to a top 4 forward. Great example, where else does Cleary do so good? Nowhere but here. Put him in Columbus and he's a #13 forward. Hudler pukes even here, so trade him for a bag of used laces...
-
...Well, lets just say when Fedorov happens, you'll wonder how I knew. If not at the deadline, then UFA... ...Fedorov back to the Wings, #91 in the rafters. End of story. I honestly don't think managment cares or not if Fedorov gets booed right now, as soon as he's back, the boos will change. It did for Chelios. ...Anyhow, back on subject, Blake will not be here because of his injury. Too risky now. If they do trade for him, he will re-injure in the first round, if not sooner and be out for entire playoffs. Time to look elsewhere...
-
...he will be back either at the deadline or as a UFA. You guys are gonna have to get over your hatred for him... ...it is already done, written in stone, as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, Fedorov will retire a Red Wing...
-
...forget Blake now, even if he rests for 2-3 weeks, it won't be the same, he comes here and sucks or re-injures it in round 1 and we are no better than we are now. We go for Foote now... ...which means it'll be Fedorov and Foote in the Winged Wheel come Feb. 26th... ...welcome home Sergei and welcome to the "other side of the tracks" Foote! (hey, maybe give Forsberg a call ad tell him it'sok to come here and play.)
-
...not only does the music/multimedia entertainment suck, but I am am tired of Bud Lynch. God bless him and here's a hearty :beerbuddy: to his Hall of Fame career, but it's time to go. This is not the same old Red Wings. Long gone is the Steve Yzerman era. This is the fast paced Zetterberg era and we need a multimedia and P.A. annoucer who reflects the changing game... ...you are never gonna get rid of older music, and rightly so, some 80's and early 90's music can hang with (or put to shame) most of the music coming out now-a-days. I have always been partial to them playing "Welcome To The Jungle" when the Wings come on to the ice for warm-ups. I would also love to hear Ministry's extended version of N.W.O during warm-ups...
-
...Lets see, Peter Forsberg or Darren McCarty... ...that doesn't even warrent a comment. Sign Forsberg (if he'll come) and then package Hudler to LA for Blake...
-
Just how many Americans do you think are on the team now? So you are saying that is why the Joe doesn't sell out? again...
-
...may have been a charge, may have been a dive. Neither of which sets him apart from 50% of the league...
-
...ok, with the trade deadline coming up, I figured maybe start a thread where we can discuss any and all players insted of the 900 different threads with the guys last name as the topic: "Forsberg" "Fedorov" "Sundin" "Hossa" etc... ...so lets centralize the trade deadline talk into this one thread. Who would you like to see go where, come here or go away. Lets be sensible though, none of the this Sammy/Lilja for Hossa crap, lets be realiztic with our wants and predictions... ...there's no doubt alot of us would like to see Hossa or Sundin here, but what about other options, smaller, less of an impact option? It's time to start looking at the teams that aren't gonna make the playoffs and see who they may be willing to part ways with... ...what will the Kings or the Lightning be giving up to change the direction of their teams? ...on a sidenote, looking at the standings, if the playoffs started today the Hurricanes would be the 3rd seed with 52 points which is less than the 4th-9th positions in the Eastern Conference. I, for one, think that just because you win your division shouldn't mean you get one of the top three seeds. The Rangers wouldn't make the playoffs and they have 3 more points than the Canes... ...on the same token, everyone in the top 8 in the west have more points than the outsiders. Also, Detroit would be the ONLY central division team to make it...
-
...you know what, if you pause it a moment of impact on the third replay (the closeup one at the 1:18 mark of the video) it is actually (clearly) a shoulder that hits him in the chin. Look at it, slow it down, frame by frame it. It's TooToo's shoulder that gets the impact, not his elbow as a matter of fact at the 1:49 mark it is no doubt, 100% sure that it is a shoulder, hence NOT AN ILLEGAL HIT, what is so dirty about that?
-
...all this is so funny! WAh Wah, I hate him, he'd make us hated, he is a prick, I'd drink my own urine before I'd want him! LOL LOL LOL! ...how many fans outside of Detroit hated Vladdy? Did that bother us back then? How many of you guys hated Chris Chelios? I know I did! Wah Wah, if Forsberg came to play for us I puke! If Fedorov ever came back I'd still boo him, I hate his greedy a$$! ...why don't you tell the truth. Sure TooToo takes so bad penalties sometimes, maybe he cheapshots sometimes, he must not do it a lot because we don't hear of him getting suspended every other week. Who would you rather have on your team, Dallas Drake (with all due respect of Drake) or Jordin TooToo? Honestly, if you were a GM, and they cost similar salaries, who be more effective in their role? Like the original poster said, put your homerism aside... ...bottom line, Jordin TooToo is about 90% of what we've been crying about NOT having all these years, a gritty, checking hard-nosed player who can knock the snot out of people and chip in the occasional goal or two. Lets pretend we pick up TooToo and maybe a couple others that have been rumored... ...imagine this team with Downey & TooToo on it. Blake or Sydor or Foote on "D" along side Chelios and Lilja. Add Fedorov or Forsberg or Sundin for extra scoring up front. Would you honestly think that we'd be physically enept in the playoffs this year? Do you think Pronger gets away with headhunting Holmstrom. Shoot, if McCarty gets a shot add him in the playoff mix. You lose Hudler for sure, Drake sits, and possibly Kopecky. Ledba becomes the 7th defensman... Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Zetterberg Cleary - Flips - Forsberg or Sundin Franzen - Fedorov - TooToo Maltby - Draper - Downey or McCarty Drake/Kopecky Lidstrom - Rafalski Chelios - Kronwall Lilja - Foote or Blake or Sydor Ledba ...that right there not only adds scoring & grit up front, but makes our D one of the toughest and best in the league... ...I know thats a lot of moves, but realistically you only lose Hudler and maybe Kopecky off your roster. Throw in a prospect and a few picks and we could get a couple of guys (TooToo, Fedorov & Foote, plus add Forsberg if he stops being a baby) although with all the rumored players to be on the block, who knows what might happen... ...If Forsberg signs with Philly, I'd be happy to pick up Sundin or Fedorov along with Blake or Foote or Sydor and, like him or not, TooToo would brings huge dividends to this team(plus he could wear #22)
-
...wow, that must be a record. I guess the whole "One thread for all trade deadline talk" was for naught...
-
...Welcome! And you're right, we need physical depth on the line (last season proved that) and a little help with scoring (like someone who could've scored on one of those 5 on 3's,) that is why I can see a combo of Feds/Foote or someone like Murray and Sydor...
-
...shouldn't be much considering his status at the end of the season if he isn't signed. Even though teams try to get something for upcoming UFA's they cannot expect too much from anyone because they could just wait until July 1 and give him an offer. Then again, if you want him badly enough you could make a great offer in order to get him... ...I don't think Nashville would mind trading Dumont to Detroit as much as Detroit would hate to give them someone with high potential, possibly making the better again. Right now, Nashville blows, last year they were right there with us. One or two of the right players and they could be there again, I don't think Detroit wants to cut their own throat that way. If they are interested in Dumont, they will likely wait until July 1...
-
...here's how it's gonna go down. The Wings will aquire Fedorov/Foote from the Jackets for Hudler/Quincey/2nd rounder. Foote will love it here and convice Forsberg it's ok to sign here. Fedorov takes Hudler's place, Foote bumps Lilja or Lebda to 7th d-man, Forsberg signs and makes Kopecky the 13th forward sharing time with Downey. Drake is there for playoff help if needed... ...that is if they don't land Blake or Sundin... ...out of left field, the Wings could possibly land someone like Jagr or Jokinen. But on a much smaller scale they could go for someone like Glen Murray, Darryl Sydor or Brian Smolinski...

...no, there will be NO contract waiting for him on July 1st 12:01AM... ...I don't why everyone thinks Hank will be a UFA this summer. He won't be a UFA until 2009! I see everyone on here, including the most knowledgable of users saying stuff like "Holland will have to save money for Hank this summer" and words to the like. The opening poster said he hadn't heard anything on contract talks, ARice (very knowledgable) answered that Holland cannot begin talks until July 1st. Then NFM25 posted the above quote. 2009 guys! Oh and BTW the rule is you cannot start negotiating until the FINAL YEAR of the contract, so in essence on day one of the 2008-09 season Holland and Zetts can open up talks and get a deal done before he becomes a UFA. Remember when Fedorov turned down Hollands contract in December of 2002 after his divorce and hiring of a new agent? He became a UFA July 1st 2003. I know this is not a huge deal, but for some reason when it comes to Hank, everyone has a brain fart over and over again about his contract... ...he is signed until 2009, it's right on this website for all to read! http://www.letsgowings.com/insider/capchart.php

...the league would love to be able to control it's players freedom, thankfully they have a union (association) to protect players rights and freedoms. If they didn't then players would be stuck in losing situations with no hope of winning a cup, ever... ...the NHL is nothing but a business, just as Ford, GM or Northwest Airlines. These companies would love to get rid of unions, so they can get rid of employee rights (but that is a different subject.)
