I really think Yzerman is done "adding" players to the roster. We still have Svech along with Cholowski and Hronek (when he returns) to take roster spots. Now I know Cholowski may be the odd man out and might be traded or something, but unless they plan on trading Svech, that will make 15 NHL forwards (no waivers) once Bert, Mantha and Timashov are signed. Someone up front has to go somewhere because before with Hronek that makes 7 NHL D (Biega on the fence) with 2 goalies, 24 players, one too many. IF Yzerman still plans to acquire draft picks, I think it'll have to be in those 3 way deals. You guys talking about Fleury, I didn't read all the posts, but if we could acquire Fleury and a 1st. then turn him to a team and eat 50% salary for another 1st. Same could go for other teams that need help. Not unless Yzerman is done for this off season. But again, I really don't see the room to ADD anymore players up front or D, not unless a couple of guys get waived like you all mentioned. I do not want to use a buyout on Nielsen, just waive him and save a little cap, but gain that roster spot. Same with Filppula.

We've been predicting this for most of the summer! I like this signing! ...just when we thought Yzerman was done with UFA's!
-
Ya, he said they "pulled" his offer after he didn't take it, then never offered him another contract. Reminds me of Fedorov in 2003, when he left. They offered him a contract in December 2002, he said he wanted to wait until after the season, then all of a sudden the same contract offer wasn't there, it was less. A bit different than Krug, but "pulled" the offer none-the-less...

So I wonder what Tampa is going to do with Johnson now that nobody did them any favors? Franzen is in official talks with The Edmonton Oilers on a 3 year deal. (I kid I kid)

Actaully none of those players suck. They are ALL upgrades to what we had: Ryan >>> Abby Griess > >>Howard Stecher >>> Ericsson Merrill > >> Daley Staal got us a 3rd round pick for nothing basically, so that alone make him better than Bowey! I really hope we see a couple of big, UFA to be contracts come this way for some picks/prospects too! In just 2 off season's Steve Yzerman made this team better than Holland had in 5 years. I am not saying we're playoff bound, but most likely, with Griess alone, we won't be as bad as we were the last two season's. Gimme 13th place in the lottery then jump to a top 3!

As much as I wanted to see a big splash, I have to say Yzerman is a much better GM than Holland! now just get me some picks and prospects to eat up our cap for this year and it'll be done! Eriksson and Sutter for 2021 1st and Podkolzin! I'll even help Toronto out some and take Hyman and a 2021 2nd. Come on GM's, Detroit wants to help you get Pietro! Gimme all them picks!
-
Nah, you just do what Tampa did with Johnson. Waive him and then Detroit claims him, then there is another "thank you" trade set up for another big cap and a 1st. THEORETICALLY! (disregard this idea! )

Not unless there are some "agreements" on hand. You scratch my back, I'll give you another player AND a 1st.
-
I'll have to say, I am a bit underwhelmed today. I was really hoping for one big splash. I certainly hope Yzerman has some trades in the works.
-
Better have some trades in the works. I don't feel like watching another tank season with no reward for it. A couple of first's or high end prospects.
-
Markstrom got a NMC. He'd have to waive to be dealt for sure.
-
I guess nobody is a rush to claim Johnson of the waivers!
-
No wonder Yzerman didn't get him My question is, all these cap hell teams are signing players...lets get some trades going!
-
a lot of new usernames...lol! Justin Schultz narrowed his choices down to 2 Eastern Conference teams.
-
I'll take Shatty....along with Krug. If Detroit signs 2 more D, then I expect that Hronek will stay "loaned" and Choloski gets traded. Unless he battles with Biega for the 7th spot.

Bobby Ryan lived here too, played for Honey Baked Ham.

Dreger saying maybe they might not be able to keep Bishop. Who do we prefer, Bishop or Fleury? Both would require (for my liking) a 1st coming with.
