dang....oh well, well at least they'll be naming one soon!
-
I am really surprised that AA has not signed somewhere. I thought he could go and sign a $1M prove it contract somewhere...maybe he thinks he deserves top dollar....
-
Worst kept secrets because Holland can't keep secrets. Yzerman doesn't call it a press conference, it's just "addressing the media." Litterally the same thing, but sounds like a ho hum thing. Plus, in this day of COVID, there are no people/players/reporters gathering in and around LCA, this may just be Steve on cam and "The Next Captain" ready to turn his on once announced. I am just hoping for some exciting news, this off-season has turned out a bit slow after we all felt things were going to hit the fan left and right around here! (well at least I did! )
-
...also, regarding this division, if they are trying to keep things more regional, how do we get Dallas instead of St. Louis? Plus, we could've easily had Pittsburgh and Buffalo instead of Florida and Tampa. I am sick of Florida and Tampa.
-
So.....Steve Yzerman is scheduled to address the media at 2:30 EDT today....could we possibly be getting a Captain this afternoon?
-
Yep, they will all find a way to not trade anyone. I guess we just hold out and see what we get at the TDL for whomever we can trade...
-
I honestly don't think we'll be acquiring anyone. All these teams are going to find ways to circumvent the cap without having to move anyone.
-
forgot about Eriksson... How about taking Eriksson and Edler off their hands for Woo and a 1st?
-
Sketchy..... They won their cup, it's a short season, this stinks of rotten soup. Expect other teams in the cap crunch to do the same. Turn our attention west. I'll take Brandon Sutter, Jett Woo, 2021 1st.
-
why would we trade away the LTIR? That can only help us in acquiring more assets... It's basically an extra $6M on top of the $9.5M. I don't like that idea.
-
I would think so....but then again, there is always Svechnikov to take that spot. We will see!!! With training camps starting soon, things should start happening!
-
It wouldn't even cost that much. Plus, they are also talking about a 2022 2nd. to TPA: 21-4th Round pick, rights to Timashov to DET: Johnson, Killorn, 21-1st, 22-2nd, Alnefelt (possibly another prospect, Volkov?) that, IMO is a trade neither should pass on. The options we'll have after this deal is also well worth picking up the cap. Plus, these players make this team better. I, for one, am tired of getting screwed at the draft lottery. I'll take finishing 7-10 and dealing with my odds. Maybe we still finish 1-4, who knows...this draft is D heavy, with another Hughes possibly leading the pack, but there are plenty of high quality available to choose from in the top 10. Here is a December ranking of D in the top 10. Yzerman may not even be looking at a D. Here is the top 10 December ranking: ..not that I am turning this into a draft thread, but my point being, if we draft anywhere between 1-10, we will get a great player at any position. Right now, there's even another G in the top 10. I'd definitely be very happy with Hughes at #5 if we ended up there.
-
ya, I'm only interested in Ken Daniels and Micky Redmond. I am used to watching every Wings game, I don't tune in to other teams. Hopefully something gets hammered out.
-
I guess it would all boil down to is, how much does Yzerman value the players mentioned in the deal. He obviously liked Johnson and Killorn enough to sign them, he didn't draft Alnefelt, so outside of whatever his scouts may have mention in the 2019 draft, he probably doesn't know too much about him. But some seem to think he is a higher end G prospect. I saw the name Raddysh in the article as well, he was drafted by Yzerman, but in 2016. There may be a reason he hasn't played in the NHL yet, or maybe he just can't crack the lineup. I am just looking at the assets we'd get in return (in the rumor,) a 1st a 2nd and a prospect. Also foreshadowing that he may be able to swing one, if not both of these players to contenders for even more assets. Depending on how desperate teams are, he may see more 3rd's coming our way, maybe a 2nd if the players were to over achieve this season. The NHL has proven they don't want Detroit anywhere near a #1 overall because they cannot market these big name players in this city. They need these players to go to huge TV markets to attract and keep fans. Detroit isn't losing any fans no time soon, especially with the woes of the other sports in the city. I cannot wait to see Raymond become the gem of the draft, and see Laf fall to the pressure of the NY media and expectations. Not that I wish him a bad career, but I just wish our guy a better one! I also think when/if Laf doesn't destroy the rest of the NHL, like he is expected to, the media and "fans" will turn on him there. Speaking of TV, where are we going to watch them this season? FSN was purchased by Disney owned Sinclair, and they have pulled all their stations basically due to not being able to agree to terms. I, for one, have Hulu, and they have pulled from them for sure. I hope I am not left to just watch 3 or 4 NBC games, that would stink. I know there are streams out there, but sometimes it's nice to just turn the TV on and change the channel. Good day everyone!

I don't see where Yzerman does NOT do the above proposed deal from the article. or this one. The "package" is Killorn and Johnson, along with what's listed above...for a FOURTH ROUND PICK! C'mon man! There is no other world where we could make a deal like this or the former. Take advantage of this anomaly of a year! Here is a way to look at it, both Helm and Glenny are UFA at the end of the season, would this team be better re-signing them or having Killorn and Johnson in their place? Or any combo of one or the other...
-
Ah! But here is what you are forgetting. The Wings now have a few better players up front that weren't there on the "worst" team. You could play them like this: Killorn - Johnson - Ryan or Killorn - Namestikov - Johnson Either of those lines would be a nice middle 6. The better statement would be, it's a tad unrealistic to expect them to produce the same as they did with one of the best coaches in the league as they would be playing for THE worst coach in the league.

I'd be ok with it. There is always a TDL plan to re-dump these guys for even more assets, then even if they cannot dump 1 or both, they will most definitely be left unprotected in the expansion draft. Neither player NEEDS a protect (no NMC) and you would think that Seattle would ****** one of them up instead of a Givani Smith or Svech. So lets say we get a 1st along with these two, then you deal then at the TDL for more, or you leave them unprotected and possibly lose one. Then again, at the expansion draft, there is always the deal that trades the player to Seattle as well. That would count as our loss in the draft.

I would take Stamkos (plus another asset) in exchange for a 3rd or lower round pick. He has his injury issues the last couple of season's but he is still a pretty elite player. He would have to waive his NMC, but heck, almost all the players that they would "need" to move will have to waive some kind of clause. Not sure is Yzerman would want to take on the 4 years left on the contract though...plus I am not giving him the #91 to wear, unless Fedorov says it is ok, and as an incentive tell Fedorov it'll be retired when the 4 years are up. -

Somebody ain't gonna be a Lightning next year! Wonder who is looking over their shoulders? There are a LOT of NTC's to be waived on that team! -
I didn't have a source, nor heard it from anywhere. I just have a feeling that he won't be back. He is not going to get millions of dollars, it seems no team is going to offer sheet him, and he has not accepted the Wings qualifying offer yet, so my feeling is, he will not be here unless no European team wants him either.
-
getting the feeling that Timashov won't be part of this team. He'll probably wind up in Europe.

Once again though, a team fleeced Holland with the draft pick. Despite never playing Backman and now letting Janmark loose, I am sure they are more than happy with Hintz, whom they picked with the 2nd rounder Holland gave them. Sheesh, the more I look at the deals Holland made in his last 4-5 years, the more I want to puke. All to just keep the streak alive. He must had some kind of incentive in his contract that gave him a bonus each time he made the playoff streak last longer. I mean, I know we were in need of a C when we dealt for Legwand, but looking at the players he gave away...sheesh! Not saying that Janmark or Jarnkrok were saving the franchise, but dang it.... I feel bad for Edmonton. He's already given Kris Russel an extension in to 2021-22. Maybe that is to entice Seattle to take him, but honestly, I am not so sure he is that smart (anymore.)
-
you know who he did wrong, Jarnkrok...but obviously Jarnkrok's team has enjoyed more success than ours! I wonder how AA is feeling out there? I know things have slowed down all over the league, but there are some players that still don't have homes that can be useful to some teams. Guessing money is the issue...

Actually, would it be cool for them to have promo nights honoring the different hockey programs in colleges around the state of Michigan? Might be interesting... I know we don't want to mess with tradition, but it would be just for a one night and they could be auctioned off after the game(s.) I'd be all in on trying to acquire a Wings jersey in Lake Superior State colors!
