optimism vs. reality ...optimism: We'll still win the series and go on to win the Cup. Have faith! reality: At the beginning of the season, where were the Wings supposed to end up? 4th, 5th, 6th in the West? They finished 1st. The were also supposed to lose to the Flames, they won. They were also supposed to lose to the Sharks, possibly swept, they won. Here they are 2 wins away from getting back to the SCF's when they weren't even supposed to be this far. They weren't supposed to be past the first round. Reality, no matter what happens, great season, great post season, happy fans, NO MATTER WHAT... ...GO WINGS!!!

...Wings lost, bottom line... ...if they would've capatailzed on just ONE powerplay, game over, as a matter of fact, they had the same problem in Game 4, so it would have been Series over... ...Dats took a penalty, period. Sure, with the way things were going NON-CALL-wise, it was BS to call that penalty at that point in the game, especially after the couple of too many men and the Penner (sp.) charge that wasn't called. He clearly left his feet, but you CANNOT give the ref ANY reason to call something at that critical point in the game, and it's Datsyuk's fault that we are not going out west up 3 to 2. (which, BTW where has he been that last few games? How about Zetterberg? They need to score.) ...Sure, the Wings had 7 PP chances, and chances are they wouldn't have scored on those if they were called, but if you are going to give a team a mulligan (too many men) with 2 minutes or so to go, you CANNOT call a small hook with less than 1:30 or so to go, giving the team a 6 on 4. Also, when Lilja lost the puck in OT, he was hooked while trying to get back to Selanne, no call. Ducks definately had help in their win, but applaude them for taking advantage of their chances. We didn't. One PP goal, is all we needed... ...you did score on the power play, at the end of the 3rd, on the call that is the subject of this thread... ...you scored on one, and all we needed was to score on one, you did, we didn't... we lose...

...this is funny though, now, not only did their team lose, they are going to jail, going to be sued and prolly have to pay this lady their wages for the rest of their lives. LOL! LOL! LOL! ...this is the absolute reason I WILL NOT take my sons to an away game. These so-called fans think that nothing else exists but their team winning and when they lose, they feel like the world is coming to an end. I pity these people who cannot just go to a game, try to enjoy themselves and win or lose go home and rejoice in the life they have and the fact that they are lucky enough to have a job and to be able to afford to go to a game. Now these guys, who obviously feel that when the Senators lose, God must hate them, will have no lives, for the rest of their lives. People like this will be collateral damage on December 21, 2012... ...rejoice you have a life. If the Wings lose the next two, what will you do? Will you kill someone, attack someone, get drunk, get into an accident and spend time in jail? ...thing is, Giggy beat us yesterday, the Ducks didn't. We totally outplayed, outshot, outhit and outhustled them. Giggy beat Dom, period. I am not saying Ducks didn't earn the win, they did. They took advantage of the oppourtunites and we couldn't, thanks to Giggy. He had a not so great outing in game 3 and he turned the heat up in game 4. Same thing Hasek does (ie. game 2 to game 3.) Lets hope that Giggy has played his best and Dom steps it up again, becuase Dom at his best, beats almost ANY goalie at his best. If not, well, it'll be another frustrating night...

...bottom line, ducks have to resort to dirty plays to try to beat us. Homer dominted this game, he gets under the skin of every player in the league. When cheap shot artists, like Dil-Donger, see Homer, they try to hurt him. The intent was there, I don't care what Burke says about 45 degree angles and end zone views, the intent to injury was there. Homer came back, because he took what the Ducks dished out, assisted on the "salt in the wound" goal and totally showed Christie Dil-Donger who is the tougher and smarter individual... ...If the Wings go on to win the Cup, Holmstrom should get huge consideration for the Conn Smythe... ...hey Christie, there's a reason why Homer has 3 Cups (did he get his name on the 97 Cup?) and you only have the one between your legs. The Wings struggled against a very inferior team in rd 1. (Uhh... did you watch the series? The only thing that struggled was their power play and penalty kill in games 3&4. We like more than doubled their shots, outscored them 18-10, held there top line to like 3 goals, I would say they Struggled against the #1 team in the Western Conference.) 7. Holmstrom is Out (..well, sure he is a valuable asset to this team, but he only had 1 assist in 6 games against the flames, and was only a plus 1. Put almost ANYONE on that ine and the Euro-twins make them shine. No worries here.) 8. Kronwall is Out (uh... he's been out since the first play of Game 1 basically. No loss there. no worries.) 9. Lebda is out for game 1 (...sure, we'll mis his speed, but Quincey stepped in and had a great game. Plus, the loss of Lebda was overshadowed by the Win in Calgary (only the best home team in the NHL over the regular season.)) 10. Sharks in 5.... Keep dreaming. If no-show Joe plays, and we own Nabby like usual, I would say Wings in 5, if not a sweep... ...you should come with some better reasons than that if you want to try to convince us that the Sharks will beat the Wings. Maybe you are trying to convince yourself, but if these are the only reasons you have, you will be sadly disappointed...

...ok, here is what most fans of opposing teams forget. Hasek time to shine is the playoffs. So the Sharks scored 8 goals on him, lets look over the coarse of the season how many games has Hasek given up 6 or 8 goals? Hmmmmm.... ....Hasek is the ultimate big game player. Sure he makes a mistake once in a great while, but ALWAYS makes up for it with something huge! No WAY the Sharks score 6 goals on him.

If it hadn't been for Kipper the flipper, we'd have swept them and outscored them 90-10! ...yet the Wings handily won the season series 6-2 (with one of those losses in OT) ...just replace the words Sharks with Flyers and this sounds like 1997 all over again. ...I agree, some fans are calling it over. The ONLY reason on got on the GDT and said I was sick and tired and was turning it off is because Gary Bettmans rules are making this sport no fun to watch. Sure I was frustrated with the power-less play, sure I was frustrated with the lack of production from the #1 line. I was MORE frustrated with the crap calls (both ways.) Bettman has ruined this game, he has made it so, longtime hockey fans cannot enjoy a game. Sure some guy in Alabama might tune in, but ya know what, as soon as the race comes on, he turns it! Hockey is a regional sport, not a national one! Bettman has gained very few fans around the USA, but lost tons! I am borderline one of those fans he is about to lose! Fire Bettman! Bring back the NHL, for real!
