Not sure how I'd feel about it with as many injuries as he goes through every year. Not that this is a reliable source of rumors, but even if it were TSN, I still don't know how I'd feel about it...
-
Honestly, if I had an order, he'd be near the end of the list. I really don't have a clear cut first choice. Which is cool, because this is one of the first times in a long time, I don't think I'll be mad after the pick! LOL! I wasn't mad last year really, but like everyone, I was shocked. I really wanted Cozens. IMO, Yzerman NEEDS to acquire another 1st for this year AND at least another one for next year. I know trades will happen after this week as well, but I really would love to see another top 15-20 for this year.

all the names, all the talk, all the mocks, what is the ONE pick that would send you over the edge? Who do you ABSOLUTELY do not want to be picked? For me, there is going to be so many players of high quality available, I don't think there is one that will make me angry. Rossi, Drysdale, Perfetti, Raymond, Holtz, Askarov or even Sanderdson (if Yzerman goes for the LD need.) I truly believe any of these will be awesome!

...patiently waiting for Detroit trades...
-
Well, they can have their $5M in cap to work with to re-sign their RFA's then. I guess they don't realize that clearing cap space is for other teams to HELP them out, not the other way around. Give me something extra for helping you out! If someone gives them a 1st for ANYONE, including the oft hurt Stamkos, then they're NUTS!
-
Also, if he'd waive the NMC, I'd would take MAF from Vegas along with their 1st! (oh and my boy Nic Hauge! Ah, memories!)
-
Yes, I was just about to comment similarly. Johnson has 4 years left at $5M per. It's not not we'd be just taking a salary dump UFA to be. If they want someone to take that, they'd really have to sweetin the pot! But, I would help them out with one (or two) of Johnson, Palat or Kilhorn. Each one would cost a 1st or a HIGH prospect (both in Johnson's case.) Same would be with Gourde. 5 years left over $5M in cap, I need a 1st and a HIGH prospect.

You do have to wonder if Yzerman's connection to these players could hold any water to be included on their lists....
-
oh, you know they'll take him.

Honestly, I was reading up on Askarov and scouts are saying he should turn out better than Vasilevskiy. I am thinking Yzerman snags him at #4. Just a weird feeling. If he is the best G prospect since Price, I can't see Yzerman letting him get away. He'll address the other needs later. The next G ranked is at #83, Joel Blomqvist. Best case scenario is he trades for another top 10 pick, drafts Askarov at 4 and then hopes that one of Drysdale or Sanderson is there. You build from the net out, right? If Askarov is a franchise goalie, then why not take him? Yzerman should have Fedorov there with him to make the draft call....in Russian!

The Kings have acquired Maata from the Hawks to address a bit of their D needs. I still wouldn't be surprised if they take Drysdale at #2. They have a more pressing need for D than C. I know how BPA works, but sometimes teams do draft per need. I think Drysdale is top 5 (outside of #1) anyhow, so they really wouldn't be doing themselves wrong by taking him at #2. With all the talk of Stutzle and Byfield going 2 and 3, I am actually warming up to the idea of either Drysdale or Askarov at #4. Would Perfetti or Rossi really be that much of a BPA in that spot or are they all pretty much equal when it comes to 4th? Damn I'd LOVE to acquire another top 10 pick.... Ottawa is setup perfectly. If we could get a D and a C in the top 10, damn....I'll say it again, damn!

sorry wrong thread

Yep, maybe Ryan Miller will take a $1M to play his last season at home.
-
Yzerman has already said he is open for business for taking on a couple more contracts. I think nashville would be crazy to buyout Turris. That is 8 years of paying for him ($2M per year,) PLUS if Weber retires they get socked with that huge re-capture penalty. So they would be wise to pony up some assests for a team to take him in trade. Turris, 2020 1st and prospect would be the starting point. They best find a trade for Turris. I'd be ok with it, and leave him unprotected in the expansion draft.

Ya, also I think since Erne has a brief history with Yzerman in Tampa (which is why I assume he traded for him) that if any, he will qualify Erne. Josh Brown was a RFA, they traded his rights to Ottawa. He played in 56 games last season and had 8 points. If he garnered a 4th round pick, I'd be shopping ALL of Perlini, Ehn, Erne, Timashov AND Bowey to see what we could get back. Heck, Bowey is the exact same position, played in less games, is a year younger and doubled the points, that could get us at least a 3rd, eh? Maybe even a 2nd!
-
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't qualify any of Ehn, Perlini or Erne. Especially if he is "open for business" to acquire Cap and assets. Those assets could very well be players that would make those three expendable (even more so.) But I guess if he qualified them for the 1 year, he could always waive them if he gets more players.

Oh boy.... just a quick question... Who, in this league currently, would you entertain trading the 4th OA pick for?
-
Ok, what are we giving Montreal? Mantha for their 1st round pick? Or could we swing a Cap dump for them to go large in the UFA market? Give me Jake Allen and Tatar along with your 1st!!!! MUHAHAHAHA!!!! Columbus, give me Elvis and your 1st!!!
-
I was never a real big Howard fan, I appreciate all the games he played for us, but "See ya!"
-
geez, I guess Boston isn't trying too hard to trade Krug.
-
How about we take Bozak or Steen off St. Louis along with their 1st round pick? How about we se if we can sign Lundqvist to a 1 year $1M contract?
-
Holland is stupid enough to do it.
-
funny sidenote, Over the summer, I did a "franchise Mode" of NHL 20 and this kid was one of the draft picks we selected. Not that I knew who he was or anything. I don't think he ever made the big club, and eventually I traded him. Ok, back to REAL draft convos!

Honestly the narrative doesn't even hold true for 02. We traded 30+ goal scorer Kozlov and a 1st round draft pick for Hasek We already had traded for Chelios in 1999 (giving up TWO 1st round draft picks and Anders Eriksson) We signed Frederick Olausson whom was playing in Europe. We signed Brett Hull in late August, after nobody else really wanted him. We signed Duchesne in September of 1999 Devereaux in August of 2000 as well, plus it's not like anyone was racing to sign him... Same with Jason Williams (August) Then we acquired Slegr at the TDL in March of 02 The only player we signed right away on July 1 was Luc Robitaille, and that is after LaPointe signed in Boston. So really, someone explain how that Cup was bought again?
