Oh, I thought maybe SuperElit was a higher league.

    2020 Draft Thread

I see Columbus is in a Wild Card spot right now, I am gonna go back to the 1st and 2nd pick scenario just for a minute: Detroit wins lottery, Columbus misses playoffs and jumps to #2. Would you trade the #1 overall to them for the #2, Werenski and another pick/prospect?

Could be a 6th round steal! Let's get this kid under contract and see what he can do in North America!

News From Around the NHL *Mod warning page 75*

I think Minnesota won that trade for sure! PLEASE, does anyone want to deal with us?!?!?! This honestly should set the bar pretty high for AA, you think? I'd rather keep him, I am a fan, but if AA could get anything near this? See ya! AA for a Player/Pick/prospect sounds great! How about this? Detroit Trades Bernier and AA to EDM for Puljujarvi, Mike Smith and 2020 conditional 1st...(same conditions as the PIT trade)

Should the Wings try to sign Lehner July 1st?

No...Not at $5M or above. Not on our rebuilding team. We are going to a lottery team again next season, I don't want to see UFA signing here making too much money on this rebuild, cap space or not. I'd rather go with Bernier and and young goalie. If we need to get above cap floor, I wouldn't mind seeing us acquire some vet contracts along with picks/prospects to give a Cup team some cap relief though! (it's time to be greedy!) Make Hockeytown Great Again! ...and signing Lehner to an over inflated contract to watch yet another season like this? No Thanks! Even if Bernier gets traded, I'd rather go young and get an aging Vet to a lower contract to be the tandem. *Edit: an aging vet NOT named Jimmy Howard....I'd go with Ryan Miller before going back to Howard. Our focus should be on developing one of our young goalies anyhow, so any 32+ goalie should be pretty happy with some cash and some 1a/1b playing time.

just to throw another coaching name out there, if he has not been mentioned yet, keep an ear out for Lane Lambert. He also has connections with Yzerman, drafted the same year, played together for awhile, is currently Asst. Coach on The Isle.

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Try to be a reasonable as you can... What do you think these players can get us? (I overvalue our guys too much, so I am not going to put anything) Daley Athanasiou Glendening Howard Helm Filppula (he is on TSN's trade bait list) Ehn Svech Green ...I guess outside of AA, and maybe Svech, we'd be looking at draft picks for the rest probably. Unless we're talking prospects or RFA's like Perlini, Fabbri, Erne, etc....

Trade for Gusev and Puljujaarvi, screw it! Wait, Gusev is 27, nevermind...

I wonder what Arizona has to offer...could Yzerman get me my boy Liam Kirk? LOL! Just kidding, but he isn't doing too bad this season in Peterborough.

    2020 Draft Thread

you know what sucks the most about this year? We are NOT going to get the #1 pick, and we just watched (are watching) the worst statistical year in my entire life!! we will not even be rewarded with the one player that would not only turn us around quicker, but drafting him could possibly attract some other players more to want to come play here. I don't think the likes of Byfield, Stutzle, Rossi, etc... would have that same impact. And it's absolutely stupid that the worst team in the league has an odds on better chance of dropping than they do keeping the #1. Lottery is so flawed! Plus no way a #14 team should be able to jump to a top 5, let alone a #1!!!

Trade deadline bait available this year?

This i agree with, and I do see your point. Again, I am just saying, if Holland is in pursuit of, or hopefully in a bidding war for, AA, we should aim high. At least a draft pick along with Pulj.

Trade deadline bait available this year?

I urge you to watch AA's goals from last season, I am sure there is a video out there, a lot of his goals were NOT from Cherry Picking. I am just saying, if Pulj is giving Edmonton a problem, who's to guarantee he won't be the same problem here? You know who else was a high-end prospect? Nail Yakupov. I am just saying that if Holland calls us, we should ask high, of course if Yzerman calls Holland asking to get Pulj, then Holland has the upper hand. AA has a future here, once this inept coaching staff is gone, if he STILL doesn't perform, then I will agree with you. But I am just saying, AA can and probably will score 30+ goals in Edmonton (or Colorado lets say) and we should be compensated as such. Are you saying trades are never made on potential?

Trade deadline bait available this year?

AA is a 30 goal scorer, he's had a tough year, both on the ice and injury wise. Prior year's have proven he is very dynamic and there's no reason not to believe, given the right situation (like maybe play with McDavid) that he won't be a 30 goal scorer again and again. Puljujarvi or not, I'm getting either a 1st or a high prospect along with him. Who's to say Pulj wouldn't give us the same problems playing here? I'd trade AA straight up and ask for Bouchard, if Holland wanted to deal more, I'd ask for a 3rd and thrown in Svech or Lindstrom. To me Pulj just seems like a problem child. He should be a throw in in any trade package just because of his uncertainty. If Holland wants AA, then I am getting the value in return, because there may be more than one team asking about AA in a couple of weeks, I'm asking high and accepting the highest value....or I am just keeping him and letting him attempt to flourish under a new coaching staff and the possibility of playing with whomever we get at 1,2,3 or 4...if we draft center. I just question whether he'd give us the same problems as he is giving Edmonton. Is it just a money issue or is it the team? Maybe he wants to NOT play on a bottom team, that would eliminate us all together.

    Cholowski Sucks

I am not sure if there is a 2020 off season rebuild thread out there, but this team needs: Entire new coaching staff. Needs to NOT re-sign any UFA's (Biega maybe as a #7) and then rid themselves of: Ehn, Nielsen, Helm, Filppula and Abby. I see maybe 2 of those names being gone though. Do we have players in GR ready to come in and replace them? I believe so. Rasmussen, Zadina, Veleno, Smith and Svech. Any of which can fill some spots. D is another beast though, we are losing 3 players to UFA, possibly 4 if Biega leaves. Do we have 3-4 players in GR ready to come in? The thread subject Cholowski given another chance, Seider? McIsaac? Are they NHL ready? Should be a very interesting summer. on subject, I really dont think Cholowski "sucks" but from what we all have heard, he has attitude (maturity) problems. Maybe the right coach/D coach could change that. I hope so, I'd hate to try to fill another hole...but then again, Steve did draft a ton of D men last year. I'll give you that. I would love to see what can be done with this team if the players I mentioned above were gone. Along with Howard. We are losing Green, Daley, E and Howard, so I guess that is a start. Either way, our D is going to be much different in 2020-21. I guess we will see what they can do when our D is rebuilt this summer. It is hard to score when you're always getting scored on. I even think (if he isn't traded) AA will turn it back around next season. That would be a huge plus.

    Cholowski Sucks

put it this way, I cannot wait to see what they do under a new coach. Maybe Steve can woo Jon Cooper here if he is not interested in Gallant or Lavs. If Bylsma takes over, I fear we will have more of the same.

    Cholowski Sucks

basically Blashill sucks, that is why players underachieve here. Although, I would dangle Cholowski out there to a Western Canada team and see what his trade value may be.

    2020 Draft Thread

I go with Perfetti then Stutzle in that order. But, we all know how drafts can go. Maybe someone else becomes the best NHL player from that draft. But does Steve gamble on the G or take Drysdale in the top 4?

    2020 Draft Thread

Here is HockeyProspects.com top 10: ...honestly if we fall to 4th and get Perfetti or gamble on Askarov, so be it. Watching Drysdale for D and also Rossi for another C as well. Obviously we ALL want #1, but I think anyone taken top 4 or 5 is going to help this team tremendously. Besides, we all know Uncle Gary is going to give #1 to Ottawa anyhow, hell they could get #1 and #2!!! Imagine that!!! I ran the tankathon 7 times before Detroit stayed at #1, within those 7 times, LA won it 3 times, Chicago jumped 10 spots and Nashville jumped 12 spots one time each and on my 9th run, Ottawa indeed got #1 and #2 (via SJ.)

I'm sure Ken Holland would give a 1st to us for his boy Helm.

    January Trade

Actually, instead of one this month, he'll make 5 at the deadline to end the season up! Not sure if they'd give a 1st for a injured player though. How about Daley, AA and Lindstrom to Tampa for the Foote Brothers?
  24. LeftWinger

    January Trade

sure wish it would. Trevor Daley and ??? to Vancouver for Jett Woo or to Tampa for Mathieu Joseph or Volkov

    2020 Draft Thread

Ok, saw this hypothetical trade proposal on Twitter. What would you do? Detroit gets #1 Montreal gets #2 Its no secret Montreal (along with everyone else) REALLY wants Lafreniere, so here it goes: Option 1, just draft him for our team. Option 2, Trade #1 to Montreal for the #2 and Cole Caufield. Draft Byfield and have Caufield on the wing. Maybe you could toss AA in for Suzuki as well. Would you do the trade or just draft Lafreniere? I think I would do the trade. If Detroit wins the #1, whomever gets the #2, would you do the same with their top prospect? If the Montreal case were real, could you imagine the offers we'd get from the #3 team?
