Players who might be available due to teams cap issues
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Well they could simply bring back Sobotka (cheaper and better) and deal Berglund for a pick or even waive him. They're not trading their captain and leader. No chance. Much like Chicago isn't dealing Seabrook just because their feeling the pinch. -
Quincey was one of our better defencemen this year. He's not going anywhere. I just don't see how that much better than the group we had this year. In fact I'd say it's worse. The only guys at risk of being moved this season are Smith and Kindl. The others will have an opportunity to prove themselves further this next year. No need to jump the gun a year early.

They've publicly stated their not making a deal that makes them worse. So who exactly are you giving up for Backes that's going to make them better now? -
Soo...trading everyone but Datsyuk and Zetterberg to purposely make us not competitive is not classless? That's a f***ed up sense of logic. I'd love to see that conversation with our leadership group. Just to get one shiny new toy. Selfish and disgraceful way of thinking.

Hampus Lindholm is a going to be a great player. Kids got skill. -
Ha agreed. Sometimes its just nice to step away for a bit and come back cooled down with a clear head.
-
No sarcasm. Even with those contracts we're in great shape.
-
I think the only way we pursue Phaneuf is if we strike out on both Franson and/or Green.
-
I don't expect any additions aside from a defenseman. Franson, Green or nobody.
-
Blame Holland? Absolutely. He deserves a ton of credit for supplying us with the deepest crop of prospects in the league and great cap position. Kudos Holland.
-
We'll be in amazing cap shape if we can shed Weiss and Kindl. Even if we can't its still pretty stellar. Great job Holland.

Kane has some of the best hands in the league by far -

If you don't do your job well or at all then you get fired. This isn't the world of puppies and rainbows...

Ekblad, Gaudreau, Stone voted Calder Trophy finalists

For sure and I agree with you. What Ekblad is doing at his age is so exceptional. -
Knuckles vs Numbers - The death of the enforcer

The league is as watered down as ever and there's still no room for these guys... Clearly they don't have anywhere near the skill to play in the league. Lots of guys bring those intangibles. Lots of guys work their asses of. Lots of guys put their bodies on the line. They're not that special. They're clinging on to a dying niche. -

I disagree. Have you seen him play much? He defines the word "dynamic". He's only 150lbs and rarely ever gets hit. NEVER has his head down and always keeps you on the edge of your seat when he's on the ice. He's a special player. (Ekblad will win and deservedly so, but Gaudreau is not that far behind.) -
ECQF : (5) New York Islanders vs. (4) Washington Capitals
Son of a Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I didn't like the fact that he made no attempt to play the puck. Otherwise, clean for the most part. As a defenceman, Visnovsky has to be more aware of the forcheck. -
Did any forwards look good aside from Datsyuk, Helm and Glendening?
-
Regular Season average even strength min/game: Tatar: 13:43 Nyquist: 13:37 First game of the playoffs: Tatar: 12:59 Nyquist: 11:07 It's really not as big a deal as you're making it out to be... Helm also played the most of any forward (20min) and Glendening played 18min. It was pretty clear the minutes for our forwards were heavily influenced by match-ups.

Philly fires another coach? *yawn*

If Pavelec can continue the way he was playing at the end of the year then they'll be set. He hasn't allowed a goal in 3 straight games. But then again it is Pavelec... -
Umm just less than a week ago he got sat again for being late and missing practice....
