No I'm just confused why you're using this thread to critique Holland's career. It's a trade deadline thread and you're bringing up the last 5 years playoffs.
-
No that speaks volumes about your attitude towards him. He's never been in a selling position, so there's no reason to think that.
-
Be mad at Holland all you want for the Vanek trade. There clearly wasn't a market for him. It's not like there was another deal that made it look bad. Numerous rentals didn't even get dealt. Those teams get nothing. At least we got something.
-
Vrbata didn't even get traded. That should provide some insight for why Vanek went for what he did.

Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

Awesome. Fair deal for both sides. -
Brendan Smith traded to Rangers for 2nd (2018) and 3rd (2017) Round Draft Picks

Oh the irony of that statement -

Who said that exactly? We're acknowledging when he does something good. Just like we acknowledge when he does something bad. It's not complicated. -
Who exactly are you referring to? TSN and SN reported the story but didn't say anything about being surprised he rejected it or that he should have accepted it.

Neilson, Abdelkader, Helm and Dekeyser are all decent mid-teir guys with good character who are playing over their heads in bigger roles than they should be. If the team needs money, they'll free it up somewhere else. Probably not from those guys.

My better half got me tickets to the game tomorrow for valentine's day. She knows me too well

A legend, role model, and hero to the city of Detroit and the world of hockey. You'll be sorely missed by many Mike.
-
Might want to check those ages again... Where do you get your info?
-
So basically you think McDavid is going to follow in Crosby's footsteps of matching his salary with his jersey number? I may agree. lol
-
Well considering it's impossible for any team to pay a player more than the average of 15 million/year, I think they'll be fine. Not to mention he won't make that much regardless.
-
I think the list is more about honouring the past. Very few recent players.
-
Why complain about something like this? Was it even televised? You literally have to go out of your way to stream it online. Seriously, who cares? Looked like a bunch of people having fun. Good for them.

Rate Yzerman, Lidstrom and Zetterberg's leadership during their runs as C's

Having fans judge leadership is nonsense. We're not around the players or in the room. -
The Red Wings existed before the 90s I see you edited the whole post. forget it...lol

Still really don't see how you're using St Louis and Drouin as examples. St Louis stood up to Yzerman and got exactly what he wanted. St Louis won that war of wills. Not Yzerman. Was it good for the team in the long-term? Yup but that's not what we're talking about. Drouin was a completely different situation. It was over money. Not over playing for Tampa Bay. He stood up to Yzerman, got burned, yet he's still with the organization and looks quite a part of their future. In other words, he didn't get "outed" like you keep implying Yzerman does to difficult players. Funny that.

Is there a source for any of this or was it just too tempting to keep making it up as you went along?
-
So is Brendan Smith worth more or less than Nesterov? 4 years difference in age. RFA vs UFA
-
He's 20 and leading our team in goals. I think he'll be ok. Development isn't a straight line.
-
That's not true at all. The world juniors is very overrated in terms of assessing talent. It's a very short window where some lesser players can look a lot better than they are. You're much better off assessing them through their club team over the course of a whole season.

When comparing ourselves to other teams, the biggest difference I notice is our complete lack of confidence and willingness to attack. That and we can't seem to put the puck on net very well at all. We've got alot of the right pieces. Just can't seem to put them together. It's kind of like watching a game of hot potato.
