That's the game, folks.

PP to CBJ. With 2:49 left, that's not leaving much time at all for Dallas...
-
They're pretty much professional Stars fans, as Ken & Mickey are for the Wings. The Stars are already out of the playoffs, so they and their fans don't have much left to play for, other than to play spoiler. Especially against Detroit, who Dallas has always seen as a measuring stick. As has Columbus... And Nashville... and...
-
Yeesh. The Jackets have 17 wins since March 1st. Only Chicago and Pittsburgh have had more in that time. Unbelievable.
-
It's actually not even that. If Dallas wins in regulation vs. Columbus, then Detroit would only need 1 point to clinch a playoff spot. A Stars win in regulation would mean Columbus could finish no higher than 53 points, and the Stars could finish no higher than 52. Detroit's already at 52, so they would only need the one point to ensure no less than a tie with CBJ, which defaults to Detroit due to the ROW tiebreaker.
-
If Detroit and Columbus both win out, and Minnesota loses out, then the Wild would miss the playoffs. Detroit would be the 7th spot at 56 points, Columbus 8th at 55, and Minnesota out at 53. That said, their final 2 games are vs. Edmonton (home) and then at Colorado, so losing out doesn't look too probable for them...

The wording is confusing, but yes, you've got the gist of it. It's actually points earned in head to head, not wins. But to clarify for those who don't know what you mean by "throw away the first game played", From NHL.com, the 2nd tie breaker (after ROW)... Since the Wings played the Stars twice at home, and will only play once on the road, the tiebreaker disregards the first game (a 2-1 Stars win on 1/22/13) in Detroit, and will only consider the results from the second game (a 4-1 Wings win on 1/29/13), and the upcoming third game on Saturday in Dallas. That said, the only way the second tiebreaker would come into effect is through a pretty remarkable set of circumstances. Detroit would have to lose vs. Nashville in regulation, Dallas would have to win vs. Columbus and then win vs. Detroit in regulation, and Columbus would have to lose vs. Dallas (already stated) and vs. Nashville in their season finale. Doing so would cause Detroit and Dallas to be tied at 52 points, and Columbus to finish at 51 points. If all the above happens, the 2nd tie breaker would be used. However, since the games used in the tiebreaker would end up with a 1-win-1-loss split (more specifically, 2 point to 2 point split), the NHL would default to the third tiebreaker, which is the difference in GF/GA. Dallas currently sits at -7 (129 forced, 136 allowed) while Detroit sits at +3 (116f, 113a). Dallas would have to blow CBJ and Detroit out of the water, and pretty much not allow anything in order to win that tiebreaker.

Ansar KHAAAAAAN!!! provides a little mathematical insight... And (as pretty much already pointed out)...
-
1st time all year the Wings have scored 2 PPG in the first.
-
Of course Dallas makes it a 3 point game...

SIX?!! Well, there went the "Classic" from the "Winter Classic".

Due to the bombing in Boston, tonight's game between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins has been postponed... http://bruins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=665914 Thoughts and prayers go out to Boston.

Might be best to wait until more information is released before jumping to unfounded conclusions.
-
Not sure about a replay to find yet, but they did show it on NHL Network (which was Chicago's feed), and it definitely went in the net. Blink-and-you'll-miss-it, but it did hit net.

Behold, today's GDT in it's cheaply-hotlinked-copied-and-pasted glory!!! vs. Detroit Red Wings vs. Colorado Avalanche Pepsi Center, Denver CO, 9:00pm EDT Game #38 of the 2013 season 3rd & Final regular season meeting Previous meetings, 3/5 - 2-1 Detroit & 4/1 - 3-2 Detroit Current record: 18-14-5 for 41 pts Currently 7th in the Western Conference Standings Dekeyser's starting tonight, first NHL game for him. Ken Kal on Twitter is reminiscing about memories of the Wings/Avs rivalry. So, for a good read, click on by. And if you're more inclined to watch than read, then look no further... Let's Go Wings!
-
This might be the first game this season that they've won when I (hastily) made the GDT. Huzzah!
-
Always loved Shanny's "NFL-Blitz" tackle of Roy in the "Brawl in Hockeytown" game.
-
This game so far has been "A Tale Of Two Cities"... It was the best of games, it was the worst of games...
-
Worst line change I've seen in a long time. Possibly ever...

This might be why the Wings didn't land JBo... http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/23141/bouwmeester-getting-closer-to-playoffs

His playoff goose egg streak appears to be coming to an end...

Sounds like they took him straight to the hospital to be checked out/worked on. They're saying dental work is highly likely. Can't stand the kid, and his attitude, but getting nailed in the face with a puck isn't something I would laugh at. I know I would have hated if people laughed when Yzerman took a puck to the eye, so I don't want to laugh when their captain took one to the teeth.

Trade Huskins to Flyers for conditional 7th rd pick (2014)
Jedi replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Glad to see Husky gets another chance to play on a nightly basis. He came in when we were losing Defensemen on a nightly basis, and was solid when he played. Not a top pairing guy, but a solid 5/6 guy, which was exactly what we needed. Good luck, Husky. Give the Penguins hell! -
Not much use, though, of calling up alot of the GR kids while their season is still going on. Even though the Wings can load up the roster, it would still be best to let the kids play every game in GR, instead of rotate in-&-out on a nightly basis in Detroit. If the Wings are still playing when the Griff's season is over, then call them up and load up the roster. Until then, let them play as much as they can. Great... Now I want In-&-Out Burger...

He hasn't the money? Then how do you explain spending over $182 million on two players in one day? I'd like to be so broke that I could afford to "not have the money" like Mr. I. [/sarcasm]
