Hehe, thanks! Had that and my signature ready for weeks. I think they're awesome too, but damn I was hoping I'd never actually have to use them. They're staying up for the duration of the lockout. Which better not be long, because (as some members no doubt have discovered) I change avys and sigs more than some people change socks.

Sad that its come to this, yet again. Third lockout in as many tries for Bettman. 3/3 on league time lost due to labor disputes. Anyone still think this buffoon still needs to keep his job? Apparently a majority of the BoG does, which is sad...

Signed Wings sign Carlo Colaiacovo to 2 year deal, $2.5m cap hit
Jedi replied to datterberg1340's topic in General
He was the "best of what's left", so not a bad signing if your expectations are in the right place. He's not going to be a top pairing guy, but for additional depth, I think he'll do well. -
Per Khan, looks like Abs' cap hit will be $1.8m.

Report: Wings close to signing Carlo Colaiacovo
Jedi replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
Brought back from The Void, as a number of sources are saying that the Wings are close to signing him, and now rumors on twitter are stating it's a done deal. Wingzman91 said that even TSN is confirming it now, though their website still doesn't have anything. Looks to be a two year deal, though I still haven't seen confirmation beyond the Strickland report of the total cap hit or yearly salary. -
There's no legal precedent that says the league HAS to pull the offer once the CBA expires and the players are locked out. This is simply Bettman and the BoG trying to pressure the league into singing now. At it's core, Bettman is playing the part of a car salesman. "My manager might not give you this good a deal if you don't agree to buy it today"

From what I've seen, Brunner will go back to Switzerland for a few weeks, and then to GR for the duration of the lockout. I haven't heard anyone mentioning that this agreement would change that plan. Aaron Ward was directly quoting Bettman's response during the League's presser in the NHL offices after the meeting completed. https://twitter.com/...958367116414977 As well, Tom Gulitti, a beat reporter for the North Jersey Record, was at the presser, and he's confirmed the league's "ultimatum" as well. https://twitter.com/TGfireandice/status/245962955454283778 https://twitter.com/TGfireandice/status/245963464928018433

Apparently, the PA gave a proposal today, to which the league gave a counter proposal, per Aaron Ward. The league also gave an ultimatum. If the PA doesn't agree to the league's counter proposal by Lockout Day (15th), then the league will pull that offer from the table.

Can't wait to see how long the NHL takes to reject it, and not move at all from their initial/revised-but-still-the-same-as-the-initial-proposal.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. And put to words better than I could have done. Per Ansar Khan... Only an NHLPA meeting though. No word on Red Wings' player participation in any upcoming League/PA meetings.

Along the same lines, I would love to hear the radio call of the '08 Cup winning game. I was watching the game on NBC, but apparently Ken Kal had laryngitis and was unable to call the game for WXYT, so Ken Daniels filled in. Per Wikipedia... I've got an mp3 that either the Detroit News or the Free Press did that's a mix of Don't Stop Believin' and the calls of the goals (done by K.D.) and the final 5 seconds or so (by K.K.), but I'd love to hear the whole thing, if that happens to be out there somewhere...

The offer sheet has now been finalized, and Weber is officially under contract. However, Josh Cooper at The Tenessean found out one interesting tidbit from the deal... According to the current CBA, Weber can't be traded during the first year of the contract. But who knows, even that might change with the new CBA if/when...

Which is why the case was brought to an independent arbitrator, rather than to the league. Visnovsky would certainly help our blue line. It will be interesting to see what happens if the trade gets struck down. He was spotted at a youth camp in Slovakia wearing an Islanders jersey, according to Puck Daddy and a Slovakian website, so he might already be somewhat resigned to his fate.
