Rhapsody in Blue - George Gershwin

I'm downright offended that you left off the clear cut choice for MVP and obvious best player on the team that year, Jiri Slegr. Shame on you. After all, he played one game in the playoffs. That one game just-so-happened to be the game where we won the Stanley Cup. If that doesn't scream "Most Valuable Player", then I just don't know what does... Back to reality... So many pieces on that team clicked together perfectly. Stevie putting the whole team on his back in the first round. Dom stonewalling Colorado (who had us on the brink) in Game 6. Lidstrom leading the defense in his usual always-perfect self, winning the Conn Smythe. Larionov always making the perfect pass, and scoring the iconic triple overtime goal. McCarty with the Hat Trick on Roy in Game 1. I had to pick Nick as the MVP, and Stevie will always be my favorite Red Wing, so that was an easy choice for me.

Text alerts are SOOO 2000's. I got the scoop from Malik, who scooped it from @redwingsfeed, who found it by doing some kind of search-engine-bot-voodoo-witchcraft-mumbo-jumbo. Apparently redwingsfeed found the gallery picture before it was made publicly available.

Between the Suter/Parise fiasco, and now the Skinner #CONFIRMED tweet 7 minutes after the Canes GM himself tweeted that they were going to lock him up for a number of years, I think it's safe to say that @HockeyyInsiderr is less than reputable...If you're going to follow him/her/them, I'd recommend doing it for entertainment purposes only. If you want an idea that has merit, how about a "HockeyyInsiderr" accuracy rating. Track his predictions, and the actual outcomes, and see how well he does. THAT could be fun.

Winter Classic ticket e-mail codes sent out, purchase available
Jedi replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
You know, if someone wanted to be REALLY nice, they could pay for a ticket for me... ...and for my flight to Detroit... ...and my hotel room... ...and any food expenses... ...I would ask for a jersey too, but I don't want to seem like I'm being greedy or anything... Hope everyone who is able to get tickets has a great time! You guys should wave and cheer really loudly, that way we'll know where you are when they show the game on NBC.- 143 replies

Is it odd that I'm probably more excited about the Alumni Showdown than the Winter Classic itself?

I can't quite say it's my favorite hit, but the picture of this hit is one of my favorites, if for nothing else than the facial expressions of everyone involved. Robert Lang getting leveled by Brad Stuart when he was on the Flames.

Feds was such a back and forth player for me. There were times where I wanted to go out and buy his jersey, and then there were times where I would have buried that jersey in the back of my closet (had I bought one). There was no doubting his talent, but there were times where I had to question his work ethic. Not unlike how I feel about Franzen now. But he's got his name on 3 Stanley Cups as a Red Wing, and I'll always remember him as a Wing first and foremost. However, I don't think his career as a Wing would merit jersey retirement. Compare his tenure with the Wings with Lidstrom and Yzerman's. It just falls considerably short of that mark. Which is why I would love some kind of "Ring of Honor" with our new arena. I'd be advocate #1 for his number being honored that way.
