I thought the Leafs were stuck with Phaneuf. I think it's a good trade for both teams. Edit: I see talk about Stamkos to the Leafs. I have a hard time thinking he'll go there willingly. He was in the Stanley Cup Finals last year, why would he want to play in Toronto now?

So another lockout is coming soon?

Yzerman Reportedly Playing in Alumni Game Against Colorado

It wouldn't be an alumni game without Stevie and DMac! It'll be interesting to see Draper and Lemiuex on the same ice again. Last I heard, Draper still isn't talking to Lemieux. I don't blame the guy. -

I knew Tkachuk was fat, but not that fat! -
Living close to Buffalo, I've gone to about 10 Sabres games (8 times they've played the Wings ). Detroit and Buffalo have a lot of similarities, so I've always liked to see the Sabres play well. Things will change though since we're in the same division now, and when they start winning games.

Something I've been wondering, is how I'll act when I exit the arena for the last time next season. I won't cry, I'm not that kind of guy, but I know I'll be choked up, savor the moment, and even say "goodbye". As much as I miss Tiger Stadium, I'll miss The Joe a lot more. It's only been since the Tigers moved to Comerica Park that they've been good, so the thing I miss most about Tigers Stadium is walking out from the dark concession area and seeing all the colors, the green grass, brown dirt, orange and blue seats, and green grass. The Joe, it's watching Yzerman, Shanahan, McCarty, Fedorov, Ozzie, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, etc, how loud the crowd gets, the red seats, Bud Lynch's voice, and a lot more. The Joe had it all! We're very lucky as fans to have our team and the arena. Let us know how we compare to a Canadian city. I'm curious.

I always enjoy a good conspiracy theory, but if anyone is going to be out for a month so we can have cap relief, it wouldn't be our best penalty killer.

I'm happy. There's still a long way to go, but I laughed at the preseason picks saying we weren't going to make the playoffs. We added Richards and Green to the team, didn't lose any major names, and most of our players are on the upswing of their careers, who are learning from Champions like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Kronwall. 2nd place in the Division at this point was a realistic goal. Who knew Florida would be in 1st place? I wish we were scoring more goals, we've allowed 3 more goals then we've scored. With a stat like that, we could be 5th, but hopefully the 2nd half things will change. Winning 1 goal games is good training for the playoffs, but we're playing with fire in the regular season.

Miller took one for the team?

That's so stupid! I remember going to a Wings-Leafs preseason game at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, they wouldn't let people with Upper Bowl tickets down for warm ups. Must be a Canadian thing.

Or Stamkos Thanks for the info

If he clears waivers, can the Wings send him to GR?
-
Not a surprise that Kindl is on waivers. Reading the replies, people are really analyzing the move, however, it's nothing more then making cap room for Quincey coming back. Agree, the Wings weren't getting anything for him with other teams knowing they were wanting to get rid of his contract.

I agree there's no bad seat in the house. Yes, you can go down to the lower bowl for warm ups. I've told this story before, my friend and I one time had seats 2 rows in front of the owners box. We got there early, found or seats, and decided to go down for warm ups. While heading down the stairs, the usher in our section asked us if we were going down for warm ups. We said "yes" and she pointed and told us, "Go that way, it's faster" I agree, the Joe get's really loud, and people there have a great time. You can even feel the atmosphere when watching on TV. I know we need a new arena, but I'll miss the place when we move into the new place.

I saw this on Yahoo while I was getting my political frustrations out anonymously, instead of on Facebook for my friends and family to read. Gutless I know but I don't want to be a jerk on Facebook. Anyway, it's shows the most popular NHL team by State. We only have 2, Michigan and Alaska, but I still think we have the biggest following in the League. We've probably top 5 in almost all the other 48 States. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/map-shows-most-popular-nhl-164811769.html

Well Mrazek has showed me he's a #1 goalie. I think trading Howard would be a good idea. However, I wonder when the best time would be? Should we try by the deadline, or wait until the off season? I would lean towards the off season. I think it'll be easier to get a proper backup if we waited until the off season.

Yup, they're everywhere!

I agree with what's been said about the Leafs. I'll add, the Leafs have lost a generation of fans in the Toronto area, due to not playing any meaning full hockey since 2004. I've heard it talked about on sports talk radio. Kids don't want to cheer for losing teams. The majority of Leaf fans are middle age. There's a lot of Red Wings and Canadiens fans in Southern Ontario, just wait until the Sabres start winning. Having family across the river from Detroit in Windsor, I make a lot of trips to the Detroit area. Once you get to Highway 401 there's Red Wings gear everywhere at the rest stops. The same maybe true when driving north on the 401 with Canadiens gear.

Little Caesars Arena

I would guess the Red Wings have the biggest fan base in the NHL, due to our playoff streak, 4 Championships since 1997, and the number of Europeans on the team. Our players are very likable too, they don't play dirty or whine. Edit: I'll add, the low ratings for the Winter Classic was probably due to overkill.

I'm not a good Canadian, I find it more entertaining when Canada loses. It makes for much better sports talk radio

Evander Kane Under Sex Investigation, Not Charged

I guess if you have the last name Kane, you'll be accused of sexual assault?
