Eat that Roberts!

I don't get it either. The Tigers aren't hurting the Red Wings. What's going on here is our Franchise players are retiring (Lidstrom and Datsyuk), or on their last legs (Zetterberg). The reason why we have a lot 3rd and 4th line guys, is making the playoffs the last 25 years, and drafting in the bottom 3rd of the first round, or trading our #1 pick to help win another cup. The best thing for this team right now is to miss the playoffs for a few years and draft our future stars.
-
I don't think anyone is to blame, it's just 25 years of making the playoffs, and low draft picks, is coming back to haunt us. Also, if it wasn't for Datsyuk and Zetterberg becoming great players despite being drafted so low, this rebuild would have probably happened in 2004. Unless we found two more diamonds in the ruff, again, a rebuild was going to happen once Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg retired. We didn't get franchise players in the draft in the later rounds, so it's time to rebuild.

Right. I'll just tell them how much success I've seen (2 lifetimes worth, already), and that I can handle a few years of missing the playoffs, so we can reload and go for more Champions. I'll embarrass, and insult them in a subtle way.

I became a Wings fan as a kid in the late 1980's, so I've been around for all the fun. With reality setting in, that the playoff streak will end, and we need to rebuild, I've been thinking, I really can't ask for anymore from this team. I've seen it all! I've seen more then 2 lifetimes of success, and despite something out of my control, I still have more then half my life to live. I'm actually looking forward to a few years of high level draft picks, so we can reload and win more Championships. Right, if there was a team that was bought in the early 2000's, it was the Leafs.

I know when the Wings are officially eliminated from the playoffs, the morons I know who cheer for the Leafs will try and give me a hard time. I am however looking forward to a few years of high draft picks to rebuild the team.

Yea, it's easier said then done. Lidstrom was a 3rd rounder, teams need to be lucky when finding that #1 guy. That's why defensemen who are UFA's can cash in big.

Can We Please Stop Putting Teams In Unsustainable Cities?
Barrie replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
I never would have thought of Grand Rapids as an NHL market, interesting. I wonder if it would be similar to Hartford, being too close to 2 major hockey markets, and would fail? The next team will be in the West most likely, so it's 16/16. There's some decent markets left in the west, Seattle, Portland, KC, Salt Lake City, and Houston. Hamilton won't get a team. I live 10 minutes from the arena in Hamilton, it was built in the mid-80's, and it's like The Joe with the common concession area. We know what it's like having to deal with everyone using the same bathrooms and food lines. They'd need to build a new arena... If Southern Ontario gets another team it would be north of Toronto, so it doesn't effect the Sabres. 15% of the Sabres fan base is from Ontario. I'm not expecting much from Vegas. I'd assume they'll have attendance problems, and they'll be giving away tickets at the Casinos to fill the arena. -
We need to get a #1 stud defenseman, but that's easier said then done. If we miss the playoffs, we have a decent chance at drafting one. I think we're in good shape with our forwards and goaltending, but we need to rebuild the blueline.

I get this poll, but it wouldn't take 8 years to build a cup contender again.

This is fun! I would start with Yzerman and Lidstrom, and go from there. Zetterberg-Yzerman-DMac Lidstrom-Larson Ozzie Reed Larson is a steal at $1!

Single Game Tickets went on sale today at 10am. I hope all of you had a Pre Sale code, because by 4:30 it was slim pickings for the weekend games! I was lucky to get tickets to October 29 vs. Boston and December 11 vs. Philly. If you're hoping to see the Bruins in October, I got the last 2 together for that game, so blame me for there only being single tickets left
-
I always park by Cobo Hall, and walk through there to get to the Joe. I use the washrooms in Cobo before and after the game, so I don't have to wait in line during the game.

If you're just looking for one seat, try ticketmaster. If you've never bought Wings tickets on ticketmaster, you can see the entire arena. The available seats are blue dots, the ones already sold are in black. Just click on the blue dot to claim the seat! Good luck!

You'll have to get tickets from Stubhub if you want to go to those games. If I remember correctly, those were all weekend games (I checked out a few of those teams), and had nothing together, only single seats. You'll have a great view of the game in row 10. The tickets I got to both games are in section 202A, rows 18 and 19. I've sat around there a few times, and it's a good view, even that high. Like already said, there isn't a bad seat in the house.
-
I don't know man. If you get Red Wings eAlerts and got a pre-sale code, I suggest you order tickets before 10pm! A lot of the weekend games only have single seats left.

Me too Jarnkrok had enough time in the organization. It was obvious he wasn't going to make the Wings.

Abby. It's too soon for Larkin.

No risk, good move! -
Signed Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

I'm ok with this, but I'm not expecting he'll play much. 30 games or so. -
Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit
Barrie replied to Jedi's topic in General
I'm 50/50 on the signing. Nielson has only scored 20 or more goals in a season twice, but I understand the Free Agent market is over valued. -
signed Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV
Barrie replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I think that's a decent deal. The Free Agent market is overrated, it's cheaper to re-sign our own guys. -
Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

I was reading on Facebook the Wings are interested in Lucic. I'd be all for that, and he'd instantly become my favorite player, sorry Tatar and Smith -
Interesting trade, Nashville may have won, but I wouldn't count out Weber.
