Sean and Brady are not homers by any stretch of the imagination. They don't claim to be either. It's too bad that Detroit Sports Talk radio shows such as this don't blow smoke up the asses of Wings fans but at least they are not just saying the Wings have a shot at the title just for the sake of saying it. I think the Wings as well as any other team have a shot at it this year but they are not the favorites and nor should they be. Who thought the Oilers would have been the force that they were last playoff. It just goes to show that any team can win any series given the right circumstances. Opinions are opinions don't take them to heart.

Whoops my bad! I watched it several times thank you very much. I thought that it was someone else that nailed Simon before the hit as was pointed out in an earlier post in this thread. It looked like Holloweg just came into the play after the hit and took the blow. Oh well, all's fair in love and war. Sorry iif that was corrected I didn't sit all day in General Discussion to discuss this and I didn't think to read through 4 pages of posts to see if I was wrong.

Just read that he was suspended indefinitelty for hit on Fox Sports.com. The story was pulled dirtectly from the AP. AP says Holloweg drove Simon into the boards right before the ensuing incident. Maybe they should actually watch the play before they decide to write about it.

What kills me is that of the few games that are shown in HD I'll have to miss this one because I have to go to a kid's birthday party with my son. At least it's not against Nashville.

You know what gets my goat about the hit on Moore is that no one mentions the Avs player jumping on Bert's back as the possible cause of the injury Moore suffered. It's all a bad circumstance but Moore's neck sure took a good second beating on the insuing hit Bert took after the original suckerpunch and push.

Like stated above it's probably a good thing that some of the guys are getting some rest before the stretch run. The only two that need to come back as soon as possible are Bertuzzi and Samuelsson, mainly so they can get into game shape before the playoffs. There's no need to worry much about the injuries though.

SI.com - Michael Farber - Beating the Red Wings
wingsfan75 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
THe writer said that the win thrust them back into first place in the central division. LIAR!!! They tied us with the win but we still had the advantage because we had more goals against if I'm not mistaken. No big deal anyway. It'll all be right in the end. -
I don't think they were any more physical than the best i've seen this season. They are definitely starting to get more physical than they have been though. I think missing Z and Cleary gave the guys a little push to not take so many hits and to start dishing them out.

Thanks for posting this. I needed a good laugh today.

Panger was saying yesterday that the Nolan family went through some tough times last season. Maybe they lost a baby last year or something. I don't blame the guy one bit for taking the family first stance.

I just checked and it's not there so it must have been old news. Sorry a co-worker told me.
-
I don't know if this is old news but I was just told that the Freep is reporting that Islanders have made an offer to trade Jason Blake. Maybe they put in the trade call before the deadline.

Sorry to be ignorant of this but has he played yet since his surgery or will he be making his return with Detroit? Do you guys think he'll be playing tonight?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm really excited!!!! Come on playoffs!!!

They played htis during the All-star game festivities. It is hilarious.

In Lou-Siffer's defense, that was my first thought as well. I knew that he didn't play in the NHL but I was suprised to see that he was still playing somewhere. I hope he finds a liver and gets better.

He's never beaten the Wings in a regulation game. He won once in a shootout I think.
-
Not that he's a major force or anything but when in Sammy going to be returning to the lineup. He was close a couple weeks ago I remember but had a setback. Has anyone heard anything.
-
I know that but I figured that was a no brainer.

Out of all the teams mentioned I'd take Minnesota. First of all because of the proximity to Michigan. Travel time wouldn't be much of an issue and neither would the one-hour difference in time. Minnesota isn't nearly as experienced in the playoffs which is a plus. We seem to play Minnesota well in the regular season. The only outstanding factor in my book is Manny Fernandez. Does he become the next goalie to stand on his head in the first round? Calgary and San Jose are too dangerous in the first round IMO. Dallas might not be a bad match up either but they are pretty experienced in the playoffs.

Right on SWF... You're right, they don't really mean much but the fact that the Wings actually went down kind of suprised me. It's not like we lost 6 of our last 8 games or anything. Sure we have 2 losses in our past 10 but to fall one and for Nashville to only fall one spot doesn't make any sense.

For those of you who don't know, a slingbox lets you watch anything from your television over a high speed internet connection. Jim Rome promotes these things like crazy.
-
Sorry if I had one I'd share. It would be nice but I don't travel enough to warrant the $140 cost.

Betruzzi is the only questionable in that decision to me only because he's coming off back surgery. It could take him a while to get back into prime shape. I've always liked Marty because he has an edge to his game. He did take plenty of stupid penalties in his last go-around with the team but he's matured beyond that now I would think.
