You know what? This isn't about his offensive skills or his fighting ability. This is about a man overcoming huge odds and clawing his way back to an NHL spot on a team that he was a huge fan favorite. This is about that guy making his debut in front of fans that once heralded him for his timely playoff goals and being part of the retribution that finally allowed us to overcome the Avalanche obstacle. Sure some are drinking the Koolaid heartily in discussing his return but it's not about them. It's about him. Don't ruin a good story with the negative junk. I'm one of those people who would love to see him reunited with the line that helped him gain popularity. If it's only for one shift then so be it.

One could only wish for something like that. But hopefully he's in his late 80's early 90's form. I'd hate to see his knees take another brutal season on the ice in his current condition.

I was in Chicago back in 1996 for the Easter Day game. I was almost hit by a car purposefully for wearing my Wings jersey. We had just beat them for the 60th win that season. The history making game that I was lucky enough to see was the game where Sergei scored his 5 goals against the Caps on Dec. 26, 1996. What an unbelievable night.

They have two or three games that they choose from to show "The game of the week". They just chose a different game this time.

Allow the replay of a puck hitting the netting for crying out loud though. That should have been in the replay rules from day 1. I could care less about the offsides and too many men incidents. The blatant mistake was that all the refs missed the puck hitting the netting. Most of the time goals are upheld/overturned correctly.

Locker room cancer can kill a team. He's probably one of the bigger cancers.

Absurd, but I began to wonder the same thing. It's good to see that he's still atop the league leaders but I do think that if he doesn't make it back before the end of the season it might jeopardize his chances. On the other hand, this past losing streak (crossing fingers that it has passed) has surely made it clear how valuable he is to his team on the ice and this might bolster his chances.

Lids is at least two weeks away.

Skeptical of that...

No suprise to me though. He's been slated for the chopping block for a little while now. I don't think Murray's the answer but he may be able to get the ship righted over there.

That's pretty much how I feel about it too. I'm a die-hard Wings fan but I do wish for an O6 Stanley Cup Final once in a while.

Pretty cool that this is happening right here in Saginaw. Sadly, I probably won't have the chance to go.

Kronner is supposed to return for Friday's game if I'm not mistaken. I don't think Rafalski is much further than that. What the hell did Rafalski injure again? I can't remember.

Update: The blog on the Detroit Red Wings official site says Drapes will be playing tonight.

Not sure but at least he'll be able to join the team sooner because we're closer to him than Detroit right now.

The bright side is that we didn't give up much of anything and we have plenty of cap to lock up the players we need to and maybe sign the players we'll need to in the summer. All of this and we'll still have a hell of a team when everyone gets back to game shape. There's always the waiver wire if a gem pops up. I'm not suprised to see that we didn't make any huge moves.
