    Cup-bound Ducks?

I thought the same thing as far as depth goes. Add the fact that our team has played well all season and has gelled for the most part. We lost some dead weight from last season in Bertuzzi (I realize he's been much better this year) and Lang. We have a ton more desire, I feel, because we lost last year. I remember the two seasons before we finally won it all in 97. It took a little adversity to finally put us over the top. We have yet to make any sort of deadline moves and that could bring us any missing pieces we might need. (We have a ton more cap space it seems too.) All in all, I still tink we are the favorites. Don't count out the Sens either.

    Cup-bound Ducks?

It says favorites, not contenders. I don't think they are the favorites but that might make me a homer I guess.

    Red Wings and Yzerman Duped

That whole thing is sad, disheartening and makes me wonder if there are any values left in this world. I'm glad Stevie is taking the high road on this one. To be fair to Steve regarding that last bit, we didn't know the context of the question asked.

    All-Star Weekend Open Thread

Here's an interesting article regarding next years game. They might get rid of the whole skills competition. http://torontosun.com/Sports/Hockey/2008/0...797585-sun.html

Nabby single-handedly may have one this game for the west if the third period has anywhere near the same intensity as the second period.

He was laughing after the 5th goal. I don't think it matters much to him.

Yeah pretty much. Add to that list Chicago, St. Louis and Nashville fans.

I'll bet that Babs is micromanaging the Wings TOI for this one so they're fresher for their next start.

Honestly, I think it's because he's a Wing and it's easy to razz someone when they're on the top team and having a rough game.

Boy, I'm glad this game doesn't count for anything as far as Ozzie's concerned. Atlanta fans sure do suck.

#2 of Leetch retired at MSG

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/7717490...weater?MSNHPHMA What an honor for Adam. He's not a HOFer but he's one of those guys that you would've loved to have back on the Wings at the time. If memory serves me right, wasn't he part of the Jimmy Carson deal? edit: Could someone please fix the subtitle. Forgot to proof read.

#2 of Leetch retired at MSG

We are on the same page. In looking up more info on him. I saw that he was by far the best player for the Rangers in their Stanley Cup season and he set the record for most team goals in a season (52, at the time) that year. I thought it was interesting that he was traded to the Sharks for Mikael Samuelsson.

No Respect For Wings? TSN's First Half Review

I realize that you're being synical but I wouldn't call last season's playoffs a (complete) disappointment. There were plenty of teams that would have loved to be where the Wings ended up.

#2 of Leetch retired at MSG

I agree but I don't think that being the 10th all-time scorer on an original six squad makes him chopped liver either.

#2 of Leetch retired at MSG

You know it all comes down to the fan favorite part of the equation. While I agree with the fact that some players have been shafted by this in a sense, the fact is that he was both completely respected by the fans, fellow players and management. You can argue that it shouldn't mean as much as it apparently does in NY but the ultimate decision is in the hands of the organization. IMO this is sort of like the Wings retiring #33 or better yet #91 when it's all said and done.

You could really say the same for Richter too I suppose. I agree with you that they sure are leaving out quite the list of greats from the organizations long past.

Should the wings retire Fedorov's number?

That's an excellent point. If Lidstrom were to have his number retired no one would question that one either. Personally, I would love to have Sergei return and finish his career out here but the question would still remain. I voted no for that reason.

    McCarty meets with Red Wings

JMHO but would a healthy McCarty be any worse than bringing on an injured Bertuzzi. I realize the upside that Bertuzzi had but he never fully regained true form, he still hasn't. I don't mean bring him up now but if he's ready in a month or so???

    McCarty meets with Red Wings

Agreed. If that's all that comes from this then it's a blessing.

    McCarty meets with Red Wings

It's great to hear that he's really trying his best to make a solid comeback. If Scotty thinks that Anaheim has an advantage over us because they are grittier then I can't think of a better fit than McCarty (mainly because it wouldn't take any time fitting in). To me it's a win-win if he's ready to go.

Just a blip in the news about a new arena...

I've heard about the transit system between Royal Oak and Detroit for many years now and I've always thought it would be a great thing to bring people into the city. It used to be there and many people used it back in the day to get to work downtown. Once the invention of the car took hold that all ended. With the prices of oil going up everyday I could see this as a great alternative once again. I'd love to not have to drive the extra half hour to get downtown if I could use a light rail system that was relatively inexpensive to go the rest of the way. I hope this happens sometime during my lifetime. I'll bet it's a lot of fun being on that board. Saginaw's board of government has been one drama after another for the past 5 years. It's finally seeing the light of day as a useful entity once again.
