You said big games. Playoff games aren't the only factor. As if there are no regular season big games. 14 playoff wins for Brodeur 11 for Luongo 20 for Miller -

Is it me or is Canada trying to draw penalties instead of hustling for the puck in some circumstances. -

Most Wins since the 2004-2005 lockout Kiprusoff - 191 Brodeur - 186 Luongo - 179 Miller - 169 Lunkqvist - 164 I say its a wash. The numbers speak for themselves. -

Works fine for me on my windows xp workstation. Don't use a virtual workstation, use an actual windows workstation. The video is crisp and very good quality. -
We have about a thousand bandwagon wings fans on these forums.
-
Oh yes, I agree. Just calling Ken Holland out is pretty stupid considering all the moves he has made in the last 5 years since the salary cap era started.

Stanley cup in 2008. Stanley cup finals in 2009. Yup, totally clueless.

Vlad, this is the best post I have read all week on this forum. Thank you for sharing. I guess I have to chock it all up to the internet I suppose.

Would be nice if I watched hockey before then, but I didn't. I didn't even know I liked the sport until I went to college. Thank god for hockey colleges.

This game wasn't about a consistent effort. The Wings are not burying their chances and the Ducks got 2 lucky bounces. In the end, thats hockey. The only fail defense I saw from the Wings side of things was on the 3rd goal when Ryan had a totally empty net to shoot at in the slot. A defenseman should be on that guy, but as it turns out he was standing in the slot with no one on him for an easy goal. Howard played well, but Hiller played awesome. Let me answer this question for you with a statement thats easy to make. The amount of real Red Wings fans on this forum is declining with every loss and adding up with every win. In the past, I have seen the fans on this forum not panic and ***** at the team after a loss. Now, that thing happens after every game. The years of success has spoiled the common Wings fan whereas now, when the chips are down, the common fan is deserting the team. Especially the ones on this forum. I see it in every thread. Even our fair captain Lidstrom was target of criticism when he wasn't putting points on the board. Real Wings fans may discuss the game and point out bad play and be critical. The bandwagon fans are the ones who say to throw in the towel and degrade the players, coaching staff, and management. Personally, I am glad this is happening. I have been a Wings fan since I started watching hockey back in 1994-1995. When the Wings were swept by the Devils, it was a gut wrenching experience for me. Back then I saw a lot of bandwagon fans leave the team. I certainly hope that more bandwagon fans leave the team now when they are hitting a rough patch and don't come back.

I agree with you Travis. I just don't think that some of the "passionate wings fans" who belittle and hate the players and team on this forum should be pointing fingers at another forum and asking, "Why is there hate?" It just further reinforces my belief that this forum is not a real Wings fan forum. The bulk majority of the fans here are already bitching at the players, coaches, and other fans more than I have ever seen. I hope the next step will result in these bandwagon fans jumping off and leaving the site for good. Hopefully for the blackhawks fan sites since they seem to be doing better this season.

It amazes me when I look back on all the people who said this was a great signing when it happened. He took a discount to play here in Detroit. The fanbase here all cheered the decision. Now, he is still a top line defenseman and 2nd on the team in +/-. Yet, there are still haters. The more I visit these boards, the less I see of real Red Wings fans. No respect or appreciation is given to those who have played hard every shift.

Agree to disagree then. As a ref, I wouldn't have given him a penalty shot on that.
-
And Dats
-
Holy crap....what a goal by Crosby. Jeez. Thats a Dats like goal.
-
Heh, no way man. Sorry, thats the dumbest statement I have ever seen. A penalty shot is awarded if he has a 1-2 stride lead. He had no such lead.

As a season ticket holder who has been to all but 2 games this season, I have seen the highs and the lows from the griffins thats for sure. When they were riding a 9 game win streak and couldn't be beat, it was a good time to be a fan. Now they just are struggling. Up and down is what the name of the season should be for the Griffins this year. Last nights game against the Wolves was a good game though. The Griffins had chances, but the puck just did not bounce their way. The Wolves goalie who is probably one of the best in the AHL right now played a great game. The Griffins, to their credit, played a solid game as well. Its not like they relented and gave the Wolves easy chances or didn't get scoring chances of their own. The 2nd goal was a very lucky bounce to the stick of a Wolves player who made no mistake and beat Laarson. To be honest, I am not too concerned about it. The Griffins have shown me that they have turned the corner in their play. About 3 weeks ago, they weren't skating or playing well at all. Last night they really picked things up but still lost. They deserved a better fate, but oh well. Thats hockey. The Griffins probably won't qualify for playoffs this season because of all the ups and downs, but the key here is that their players will develop and get better over time. Hopefully they will be more consistant next season. As for this season, I want to see them working hard out there. For a 10 game stretch, they weren't skating or caring what happened. I believe the addition of Abdelkader will wake this team up.

Not without its reasons though. The Red Wings were being praised by users like you about a two weeks ago when they were 7-3-1 as being resilient. Now that they are stumbling, users like you are off that kool aid and onto the hater-aid. There are ups and downs to every hockey season. The Wings have more man games lost to injury this year than they had the last 3 years COMBINED. At least that is what they said on Versus on Tuesday. Thats a lot if you think about it. Yet, they are still hanging in there. I have said it before and I will say it again, the fairweather fans in this forum are becoming more apparent as the Wings struggle. I am convinced that there are a lot of bandwagon fans ready to jump ship, especially on this forum. The last 16 years of having a competitive team has spoiled Wings fans. They expect it every year. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying its bad to criticize the team. I have no tolerance for the D leaving Ozzie and Howard out to dry. That being said, the comments like this one and more users chiming in with them shows to me that we don't have real Wings fans on this forum. If we did, we would see less of these comments and more critical thought out ones. Just my .02 cents. As for the game, the Wings have not played a complete game in the last couple weeks and need to correct those mental mistakes. As Mickey said last night, the problems are not work ethic problems, but mental ones. Those are the easiest to correct, but do take time. I really respect Mickey's analysis of the game and the players thats for sure. He may be a Wings fan, but at least he does call it like he sees it. I think a lot of fans here could take his constructive feedback about the Wings and learn something from it.

What suggestions would you have to turn things around? Keeping in mind the current roster and salary cap implications?
-
Glad I am not the only one who sees it that way.

After the loss last night, I turned off the TV and said the same thing that I said after the last few games they blew a lead in the 3rd period. They need to keep the pedal to the floor and finish these games. That being said, I think the Wings played well yesterday. The yotes got 2 goals in the final 2 minutes off a darn good screened shot from the point where 2 people were in front of the goalie. Then the tying goal when Jovanowski was standing in the crease like Homer except this time neither Lidstrom, Rafalski, or Z touched him. He had time to easily put it in the net. The OT goal was another giveaway this time by Helm. We have too many fairweather fans on this forum. Too many times has this team given us such success. Now, when the chips are down, I see too many fans throwing in the towel on the season. Its just really sad to be honest with you. When the going gets tough, the real fans always back the team. They may be critical. They may be upset. However, they don't say they are not watching another game or giving up on the team. Too many members here are doing that though. To quote the joker. Substitute town for forum.

I guess I could also say the same thing here. Why do so many people hate the Wings here? I swear I counted about 50 posts last night where people were asking for the heads of management or players for losing last night. Seems that every poor outing results in fans slitting their wrists here. There is a big difference between being constructive and properly analyzing a game, and the alternative which is jumping off the ship when your team faces a little adversity.

More bandwagon fans are bailing. Awesome. Terminate your accounts while you are at it.
-
The bandwagon fans are jumping off. Thank god.

Lids and Z were standing right next to Jovanowski when he scored that goal. D has got to tie up the guy.
