Ducks are winning all the battles, and they have the momentum. The Wings are dead unless they can pick it up. So far, its not good. -

Not a good sign. It was a lucky bounce though. Right off of Neidermeyer's skate. -

Lets GO WINGS! -
I agree with your thoughts. I am thoroughly convinced that a majority of the people on this board don't even play the game of hockey to know that "s*** happens" more in hockey than in just about any sport. Its the kind of sport thats very unforgiving at times and the Red Wings have been at the forefront of that. Heck, I have been in that position more than a few times in my rec leagues. A shot bounces off my defenseman or off a skate and goes in. s*** just happens. I am not blaming Lilija for the loss. In my mind, it was a team effort out there and the wings just didn't have it. The Wings are hitting goal posts while the Ducks are getting breaks. The puck can bounce just as harshly against you as it does for you, like in game 3 when the wings won 5-0. They are going to come out with a strong effort on Tuesday. Lets just hope they get some bounces to go their way.

I am sure you were telling yourself that back in 1995 when the Wings were down 3-0 to the Devils going into game 4. People react differently to different situations. Sorry you hate my attitude toward it, but I feel it is better than anxiously waiting and counting the minutes to the next puck drop, analyzing every play, and then staying up all night thinking about the game. I am sure your reactions might upset others here, but thats why we are all human.

Same here..... I am already pretty much reserved to the fact that they are done like dinner. Just like in 2002 when they lost, I figured oh well and just let the team go. I tuned in and watched game 6, but I just had it on in the background while I playing computer games. It was much easier to swallow if they lost I figured. Point is, lets hope for the best. Two games in a row is not a stretch.

Yup I agree. However, the better team doesn't always win which is why you have 7 games to hash out a winner. One thing is certain, if the ducks keep getting the luck they have been getting then they are going to the SCF and they may even lift the cup. As a goaltender, I have rode a wave of luck like that before and beaten teams I shouldn't have beaten. I am just hoping that the Wings can pick it up like they did in 2002 and beat the Ducks on the road. We are gonna see what this team is made of. If they limp into game 6, we are gonna be able to tell.
-
We are going to see just how resilient this team is. The odds are against them though, but it was more of the same back in 2002 when the Wings won the cup and dropped game 5 to Colorado.

After the game 4 loss last night, I watched the highlights and took a look at both teams in depth. Lets face facts here, both teams are even. Sure, the analysts here, on TSN, and on ESPN all say the same thing. "The (insert wings or ducks here) let this game get away from them." As a hockey player, this series has lived up to its billing so far. Most games are so even that when the puck bounces against you or for you, it sends everyone in a tailspin. Most analysts like to look at the great passing or great goals to determine who had the edge. The point is that puck can bounce your way one game, like it did for the Wings in game 1, and bounce against you like it did for the wings in game 2. In the end, you have to win 4 of 7 games. When this series started, I didn't think the Wings had the horses to win the series. I am a hockey fan as well as a Wings fan, and having watched the Ducks through the regular season, I just didn't know if the Wings could handle them. I thought the Wings were more resilient though which is why I gave them the edge. Now to be honest, I just don't know. I predict that the winner of this series will get a couple lucky goals to seal their respective games and the series. It won't be the pretty passing play or the pretty goal that wins it. At least that is the way this series is becoming. I predicted Wings in 6 games, but now I am thinking Wings in 7. To be honest though, if the games keep going the way they are, its a crap shoot on who will win the series. That, my friends, is what we call good hockey.

I agree. I believe this series will be won off of which way the puck bounces. With both teams wanting to win every game, that is going to be important. Look at game 1 when the Wings were clearly outplayed, but yet the puck bounced their way. Last night, the Wings clearly had more shots on net and better chances, but the Ducks got the bounces they needed to win. I say bounces because one shot goes off of Markov's skate and into the net. Thats just one example. If the Wings don't advance, they can't really blame themselves like in past playoff defeats thats for sure. They have come to play every night. If they do advance, they will need a little more luck in the finals. As a goalie in close division games or in playoffs, I have lived or died by how that puck has bounced on me at times. I have been truly fortunate to win some games and lucky to win others. When both teams are just that good, you really can't factor in anything else other than luck.

You and me both my friend.

I gave the Wings a slight momentum edge coming into this game with the big win on Tuesday and the loss of Pronger. The Ducks shows a lot of resiliency and really came out strong. Hasek didn't have his best game while Giguere played good enough to win the game. I hate to say it, but the winner of Game 5 will probably win the series. I think the figures are 83% chance, but we all know how good that did the Avalanche when they won Game 5 at the Joe in 2002 in the conference finals. The Ducks do have the advantage going into this game on Sunday. They have a slight edge in momentum due to the fact they won without Pronger and they believe they can do it without their best player. The Wings will have to rebound, especially Hasek who had one weak goal in that game. Otherwise, he played well. The rest of the team really put pressure on the Ducks so thats a great sign. My prediction was Wings in 6 and it looks like it is shaping up to be that. If I got a chance to amend it now, I would say it is going 7 games.

Now all we have to do is capitalize on this opportunity. If the Wings let game 4 get away from them, they are in trouble.
-
Simon was suspended for the stick incident on Hollweg. All Hollweg required was stitches. It was the intent more than anything that was penalized. Even though Holmstrom came back to play, that shouldn't even be factored in. All things considered though, I think that only warrants 1 game, or 2 at the most.

This series is going to go to the team who gets the most bounces. Detroit got a couple in game 1. Ducks got a couple in game 2. I still like the resiliency I have seen from the Wings, but the Ducks have outshot the Wings at home in the first few periods. I am a hockey fan and if I wasn't rooting for one team or another, I would find this a very entertaining series. As a Wings fan though, it is going to be a nerve wracking series. This series is going 6 games at least. As for who wins, its anyone's guess. As for who I want to win, the Wings in 6 games. I just wouldn't be surprised if the Ducks pulled it out in 6 or 7 games because both teams are so even and just that good. If the Wings want to win, they are going to have to dig really deep. Lang and Bertuzzi have to start puting the puck in the net and keep playing the body. If the Ducks want to win, they have to get their power play going. They did get 2 even strength goals at the end of their power play chances....so thats a good sign for them. At least this series is living up to its billing so far. The Sabers//Senators series could get out of control tonight in Ottawa and so far Ottawa is outplaying them in all the little things.

The only time I remember Barry picking the Wings was back in 1997 when the Wings were up 3-0 in the series against Philadelphia. Barry put on this red and white "Cat in the Hat" tall hat on and was predicting a sweep. Mind you this guy picked Philadelphia at the beginning all because of the Legion of Doom line. I just remember how dumb he looked in that hat. Oh well.....
-
Same here, but it doesn't matter what we the fans believe in. It only matters what the team believes in. If they believe they can win, and do what it takes to win, they will win the series. Teams that go this deep in the playoffs have to have the desire to win, but also have a few bounces go their way through a 7 game series. So far, the Wings look to be making their mark. Its going to be a heck of a series, thats for sure!

There is a reason why I don't go to many Red Wings games. Price is the main one. Professional NHL hockey is one of the most costly sports for a family to be able to afford. I think only the NFL is worse when it comes to the average ticket price. The price when compared to the Red Wings is about the same I believe. Still, its hard for a lot of people to be able to afford the ticket costs. I keep wondering if the NHL isn't painting themselves into a corner here. Eventually, it is going to get to a point where the prices keep going up because there is no lucrative TV contract like the other sports have.

Good teams find a way to win. We are beat up right now thats for sure, but we are showing a lot of adversity to what is happening. We will need to pick it up and do it again that is for sure. That series won't come easy. First things first though....winning tonight or Wednesday.

Shots are only 4-4 and there is less than 4:30 left. Wow.
-
As much as I disagree with his opinion, he has a right to voice it. My advice would be just to ignore his posts and not give them any response. As for Bertuzzi, I believe that he will be a vital part of this Cup run. I hope he is 100% and plays!

Well 13dats, I owe you an apology! Sorry about that. Great news!
-
I say if no announcement comes this afternoon, 13dats gets a 2 week vacation from here. If there is an announcement reguarding this, then all is well. Either way, a win/win for everyone.

I am a huge Fedorov fan and always have been. He always showed up to play in the playoffs, and produced an average of a point a game in his time at Detroit. That has to count for something. Let people boo all they want. If people can't see how valuable he was, then I don't know if they are real Wings fans.
