This really has been discussed before here I believe. Every team has a player that has "showboated" before. Some players do it after they get their first goal, or score a playoff goal, or when they make a big play. Pascal is someone I never have seen showboat (don't watch him very much), but apparently he did today (if you want to call it that). Its the same thing in the rec leagues. Some players just go nuts when they score and then others are low key. Personally, I want to see more people get excited when they score. Hockey is an intense sport, and when I see a player pump fists like Hossa did last night, I really can see that intensity at that time. Its a lot of fun for me. The NHL doesn't need to turn into the NFL when it comes to celebrations where even a simple dance in the end zone can result in the penalty. Let the players play and celebrate within reason. The Yakapov goal is about the limit I would allow, and I never see anyone go above and beyond that. Once again, its all based on perception, but I lean more towards "Feel free to celebrate".

It depends on what your definition of "showboat" is as well. Do you count celebrating after OT goals? The Wings have Tatar who has showboated a bit in the past. Personally, celebrating after a goal is fine with me. The Pascal goal is fine. Same with the Yakupov (sp) goal earlier this year when he went out to center and celebrated. Then you have Theo Fleury who has scored many goals with celebration. I have no issues with it.

GDT WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)
Nightfall replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yea, I am not concerned in the slightest. This is going to be a long series. I predicted a 7 game series at the start with the Wings coming out on top. -
Jurco has not put up stellar numbers this year. Everyone saw the videos and thought he was going to be the next Datsyuk. He has potential, but needs another year or two of AHL experience.
-
The Patrick Roy statue of liberty gaffe comes to mind. Roy is widely considered to be one of the best. The elite of the elite. Yet, he showboated and it cost his team the game and the series. Elite goalies are human, and they do make mistakes.

Fear not, FSD has us covered.
-
Both sides diving around trying to draw penalties.
-
As someone who referees hockey, that could have been called either way without the use of instant replay. Even when i see the replay, I see a penalty on Parise. No doubt in my mind. That "shove" wouldn't have knocked a 3 year old down. Parise just used it as an excuse to hit the goalie. The Hawks suck a big one. I certainly hope that the Hawks and Pens get knocked out before the finals. That being said, the Wild have to play smarter if they want to win the series.
-
Maybe if you want to see the Hawks lose the game or the series.
-
Please..... That wasn't much of a shove.
-
I saw 2 penalties per side so far, only 1 was called all game. As I said before, they are going to let a lot go.
-
Let me put it this way.... The Wild had a partial breakaway, and the Hawks shoved the player into Crawford. That should have been a penalty IMHO, but it wasn't. Its hard to judge how the series is going to be called on one game, but so far, they are letting a lot go.
-
Clutterbuck scores the first goal. Crawford should have had that.
-
Then you have Broduer letting in a goal off a clearing attempt from the other side of the ice in game 6 of the cup finals in 2003.
-
As if cup wins are the only criteria to getting your jersey retired.
-
I would find it even a little refreshing if you would just admit that you jumped the gun and you made a mistake instead of saying "well, we will see how he does now".
-
It looks that way. I have FSN+HD so it wouldn't matter to me if it was on + or not. Still, I welcome the hometown announcing duo for the first round of the playoffs.
-
You do realize if we beat the Ducks, we will have to probably go through Chicago. Doesn't matter if we go through them first or second, the point is we will have to go through them.
-
Yup, I remember those times. Like when we were #1 and Edmonton was #8, and everyone wanted to play Edmonton. A easy matchup, or so we thought. After losing game 6 in Edmonton, Stevie retired and Edmonton went on to the cup finals. A finals they should have won if Roloson didn't get hurt. Anyway, I am just happy getting in. Doesn't matter who we play to me. If anything, Chicago would be nice because the games would be earlier.

I like the nickname the team has given him. DK

Based on the quality of calls in this game, I wouldn't say too much about that.

The Wings Are 16-0-2 When Scoring Three or More Goals
Nightfall replied to Dabura's topic in General
Comparing a couple other teams.... The Rangers are 19-3-1 when scoring 3 or more goals. 87% Sharks are 20-4-1 when scoring 3 or more goals. 84% Kings are 19-4-1 when scoring 3 or more goals. 83% Blackhawks are 18-3 when scoring 3 or more goals . 85% I would say that Detroit is in elite company just based on this sampling size. Its below the 90% you predicted. In fact, I was looking for a team other than the Wings that has over 90% when scoring 3 or more goals. So far, I haven't found one. Edit: Found one, the Pens! 28-2 at 93% -
That 5 on 3 sucked some balls.

DeKeyser on the 1st power play unit again. I like it!
