That is what Helen St. James is saying. Helm is on the horizon.

This. There are 5 people on the team that could deliver a pass like that and only 3-4 of them could actually catch the pass and put it in. Franzen + Dats = Goal! BTW, Dats played with Franzen today and finally broke out of his slumber. Everyone here wanted to see Dats with someone besides Cleary and Abdelkader. He was with Franzen for probably half of his shifts.
-
Franzen made a heck of a pass thats for sure. Got to give him credit for that.
-
The hockey gods already gave us a goal. Don't ask for another goal. I have a bad feeling that they will give Edmonton a bounce.
-
Yea, I was going to mention that. Its so far up, why wear it?
-
Negative. We scored a power play goal in Calgary on Wednesday. Hell, you can see some of those posters in this thread. May as well discuss that here.
-
Well, we couldn't score on the power play, so Edmonton helped us out with it.
-
Well, they gave us a goal. That has to count for something.

Sometimes, I think what LGW members need is a Tosh.0 video. GOAL!
-
At least we know the puck rolled off Franzen's stick on that pass. I love how Mickey breaks it down.

The wings are clutching their sticks too tight. Its just sad.

Yup, the cup or bust expectations are unrealistic. Look at the standings. Look at the parity. Any team can win on any given night. The Wings have had an unprecedented 20+ years of playoff contention. Look at the last few cup winners since the Wings won and you will see that none of them have had even as close of a run as the Wings have had. The Pens sucked and had to rebuild through the draft. The Hawks sucked and did the same thing. Same with Boston and LA. The teams that draft smart and get great players through the draft are going to have an edge. The Wings haven't had a lot of high picks and have gotten fortunate drafting great players in the later part of the draft. Realistically, I was expecting the Wings to make the playoffs and then hopefully anything could happen. The Wings were not one of the "contenders" for the cup this year. Fans would be wise to realize that the Wings aren't going to be contenders this year and may not be contenders again until they have a couple down seasons and pick high in the draft.

Mrazek won't be backing up Howard until he gets 2-3 more years of AHL experience. The only way he joins the Wings sooner is if he wins the Calder Cup or takes the Griffins deep in the playoffs this year and Monster retires this year. Monster will be backing up the Wings next year which puts Mrazek in a Wings uniform and backing the team up in the 2014-2015 season. I think this is McCollum's last shot of AHL eligibility. I may be wrong, but if the Wings don't sign him this year he can sign elsewhere if he can get a contract. If the Wings do sign him, he won't be playing in the NHL. His numbers are not solid.

A majority of fans wanting to blow up the team and rebuild are the same fans who won't be around to see the rebuild because they will be on another fan forum such as the Ducks fan forum.

We are the Detroit Red Wings and we are making the playoffs

In 2006 when we got bounced by Edmonton, many people said that the Wings were the better team in that series, but the result was still a lost series for the Wings. I would agree with you on the LA Kings. They really did peak at the right time and had a different make up. The rest of the teams got hot. To your defense though, we are looking at 4 teams in the last 7 years that have pushed that far. I think we all know the good high seeded teams typically do move on more often than the low seeded teams. -
I think you will see about 15% of the members on this forum leave before Kenny will be fired after this disaster of a season is done.
-
Either that or out in the first round.

Lashoff fell down and that resulted in a odd man rush. Sure isn't his fault because mistakes happen. Still a bummer though that they got a bounce and it resulted in a goal.
-
That and a crappy bounce off of Drew Miller's stick right to Tanguay.
-
3 people disagree, but I stand by my statement. If it was that fricking easy, more would be doing it in order to get the point. If you think that 99% of the NHL isn't doing it because of some code of honor or something, you are diluting yourself. Besides, over half the time that stupid move doesn't work anyway. I will say this much, the shootout is fun in my eyes, but there needs to be some rules behind it. That puck control with the toe of the stick is really dumb.
-
Lets face it, other guys don't do it because they don't have the skill to do it. I think Dats could pull it off, but its not like anyone in the NHL has the skill of Patrick Kane. I have to agree that this should be allowed. The puck is moving towards the net. The player has a forward motion at all times. I just don't see the issue with it, and I wish other players would do it if they had the skill. Even with that slow moving crap, he scores on less than half of his shootout attempts. Its not like that works all the time.

I am also looking forward to the mass exodus of bandwagon fans that have jumped on board over the last 20 years. Having gone to Ferris back in the mid 90s, I fell in love with that hockey team and they were not that good. Still, the 2,000 fans that showed up to the games were enjoyable to watch the game with. They were knowledgeable and appreciative of what the team brought every night. Sure, they weren't a 1st place team, but hell they worked hard and the fans appreciated it. When they had a great season in 2003 and won the CCHA title, the morons came out of the woodwork the next year. The arena was sold out every night, but talking with these people were annoying. They bitched non-stop about the team. They bitched non-stop about the coaching staff. It was less about enjoying the hockey game and all about a "what have you done for me" attitude. After a down season, the morons went away and it was back to normal again. So yes, Top 10 pick if they don't make the playoffs and we get to start the "fan" purge. They are going to need a little more than that. A top defenseman would also be on my list.
