Yea it pretty much is over. The people who thought that Kane raped a woman will continue to think that way while the people who think she was after a quick buck will continue to think that way. No one will change their opinions. The fact of the matter is that she just chose to stop going after him. I know I wouldn't mind reading all the facts of the case, but those won't be coming out for the public to get their hands on. As I said before, if Kane was guilty, he knows it and he will have to live with it. Same goes for the woman if she is falsely accusing Kane of rape. She is going to have to live with her decision as well. http://mobile.buffalonews.com/?articleRedirect=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffalonews.com%2Fcity-region%2Fhamburg%2Fkanes-accuser-no-longer-wishes-to-cooperate-in-investigation-20151103

Sorry about that then. It just read a bit differently. -

His stats say otherwise. I think if he could have stayed healthy it would have been a very good contract for both sides. As it turned out, it didn't work out. I really am glad this isn't how a majority of Wings fans feel. Talk about insulting. -
I love our fans.

Its all good man. Its an internet forum. Sometimes posts and replies get lost in the shuffle.

If Larkin forces his way to the team , what will we look like?
Nightfall replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Its tough I get that. The Griffins were a mediocre team before Blashill. Even when loaded with talent, they just didn't have the right coaching and chemistry. Yea, I get it, the coach can only do so much, but I know that Blashill inherited the team that Frasier had the year before and took them to the Calder Cup Championship. Todd Nelson does look like he is going to be solid for the Griffins, but I am only cautiously optimistic at this stage. I still believe that Larkin is going to benefit from a long season in the AHL. Yea, he played a lot of hockey last year, but I don't think he topped 60+ games. -
I am not assuming anything at this point. Presenting a video where professional athletes have went broke for various reasons, including being taken advantage of, isn't bias. So far, there is no proof of innocence or guilt. Either way, I hope the truth comes out for the sake of the NHL and hockey and Kane is either exonerated or put in jail accordingly.
-
Hell, have you ever seen the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary "Broke"? Many professional athletes have been targeted by people who want nothing more than to get a piece of their bank. If that is what is happening here with Kane, then he should consider himself lucky if he isn't prosecuted or found not guilty. This woman probably saw a mark and is trying to extort money from him. Heck, just like the 18 year old model who tried to extort a couple hundred grand from Jagr, these cases are not isolated. He should be very wary now that he signed that insane deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va2qj4Zv4QM

I agree with this. I hope the Wings don't just keep him up to play bottom 6 minutes. He has the potential to learn at the AHL level this year and they really should make sure he starts with the Griffins. Keep in mind that Larkin has not felt the grind of a long AHL/NHL season. I would like to see how he does after 40 games, 60 games, and then 70 games. -
Very interesting turn of events. Looking more and more like a money grab by the accuser.

I can't believe I am agreeing with frankgrimes, but I am. I think this is the 4th time in LGW forum history for this, so it isn't the first time. The organization has shown loyalty to Cleary. The cap hit isn't going to hurt the team. They are in essence paying him out of their own pockets to be an emergency call up. Who cares if they let him into training camp and give him preseason minutes. Who cares if he ends up in the AHL. In fact, no one should care that they signed him to this deal. If anything, other players will see this as loyalty that is being rewarded after all these years and want to come play here. Hell, if I am at the end of my career, and my workplace decides to keep me around out of loyalty even when my most productive years are behind me, I would be very grateful.

Cleary would provide some great leadership for the kids down in Grand Rapids. I really do hope he finds himself down there playing 3rd line minutes, and educating the kids obviously. I really am not concerned with this contract. The entire salary can be buried in the AHL.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)

I read a story at work today where the NHLPA was gathering evidence and needed time to conduct an internal investigation before coming to a decision. I guess their decision was to appeal. This tells me the NHLPA did their due diligence and they feel they have a good case. I hope the Kings have their ducks in a row. -
Its good to see Jim Nill be active in the trade market. Lets be clear that so far, in his tenure with Dallas, he really hasn't accomplished much. The Stars didn't even make the playoffs last year and the year before when he joined the Stars didn't even get out of the first round. Will Niemi, Patrick Sharp and Johnny be enough to push them into the playoffs? We shall see.

A great article I stumbled upon today and I thought I would share it. I really like how this guy puts it. I remember a lot of these events because I was a fan of the team before they won their first cup in 1997. Beware, some of the language is a little harsh. My favorite part: http://detroitsportsrag.net/retire-sergei-fedorovs-jersey-immediately/

I know Wings fans wanted us to put an offer sheet in on Saad, but if Holland would have paid him $6 a season for 6 years, I would have been furious.

Holland doesn't expect to be busy this offseason
Nightfall replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That wouldn't be enough for most Wings fans. You forget the general consensus around here is cup or bust. If we get booted the first round, its a failure and people want to see a deeper run. Make it to the 2nd or 3rd round, then its a failure because they should have made more changes to at least make it to the finals. Make it to the finals and lose, then Holland will be blamed for not getting that last key piece to put them over the top, and its a failure. -
Both players went to their respective teams due to family living in the respective cities. A story about Boyle revealed such when it was written last year. I believe Erhoff took the offer with Washington because his mom and dad moved there a year prior, but I can't remember the story entirely off the top of my head. Point is that it makes sense why a free agent would want to move closer to family instead of taking more to move further away from them.

https://twitter.com/MolinariPG/status/616288829054562304 Dave Molinari @MolinariPG Sporsnet reports Penguins have acquired Kessel. Personally, I think this is a great move. They needed another guy to compliment Crosby and Malkin. If you shut those power two players down, it was hard for the Pens to beat you. Now, with Kessel, its tougher. Provided he can get back up to where he was before he slumped.

Saad is going to get a big pay day from Columbus.

If the salary cap wasn't an issue, we would see the Wings do this. I still remember the awesome high profile signings when the salary cap wasn't in place. Man, those made for fun free agent signing periods. -
Signed Brendan Smith re-signed 2 yrs $2.75 mill AAV

Solid deal for a defenseman of his caliber. Good 2nd pairing. -
I wouldn't put an offer sheet in for him. He is a good player, but not worth the 3-4 number 1 draft picks we would lose to get him.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)
Nightfall replied to P. Marlowe's topic in General
As I said in the previous thread. The Kings have $22 million reasons to try this. Even if there is a glimmer of hope at getting this contract cancelled, they are going to do it. As you said, a lot of rumors flying around. Its best to wait and see. If there isn't much merit here, the NHLPA and Richards are going to have an easy time beating this in court.
