    Nashville is going to go into the prevent defense for the last 10 minutes.

    Incorrect! Example..... Who on the Wings should be traded for a bag of used pucks?

    Welcome to the new NHL. Parity rules eh? The Wings were due to have a down season or two. The entitled spoiled Wings fans are in for a rude awakening.

    It is rare, but its rare across the league. Just pointing out that 1/3 of the Wings wins have been through a comeback this season. Maybe you should pay closer attention.

    No obvious ones. The tripping call, delay of game. and slashing calls were textbook calls. This is just a case of the Wings committing more penalties than the Preds.

    The Wings have done it at least 2 times this season. They have been down entering the 3rd period and come back to win. Short memory?

    The Wings are making the refs lives easier. Aside from the 2nd Kindl penalty, these calls really have been easy to make. A chimpanzee could make them.

    Howard = Average

    I agree. Lets end it here. Just based on your list of elite keepers that you gave earlier, I disagree. None of the goalies you mentioned would have been enough to take more than a game. You have to figure that saves that Jimmy made that one of your elites may not have made. To say "easily three wins" is just a disservice. The Wings are banged up. Even Roy in his prime would not be able to save this team.

    Howard = Average

    I think its kinda funny how people for years said that Osgood was average, but he won 3 cups with Detroit and over 400 wins in his career which is #10 all time. Mike Vernon, who many consider to be the holy grail of goaltenders in Detroit because he led them to a cup win in 97 was #12 on the all time wins list. Jimmy is winning half of his games, and if he continues to do so, he will eclipse the 400 win plateau easily. Right now, we don't know how much Howie is going to resign for. It must be nice to be able to tell the future and pull a number out of your ass, but in the end, that number just comes straight from your ass. Oh, and a cup win is a cup win. Its not like Legace did nothing that season, so don't cherry pick your stats. There are going to be detractors and cheerleaders for Howard, thats for sure. Any intelligent hockey fan is going to be able to point out two simple truths. 1. Howard, just like any goalie, is only going to be as good as the team he plays in front of. This is a team game. How many playoff runs did Roberto Luongo lead the Florida Panthers to? Zero. Yet, I believe Luongo is a great goalie. Look at any elite goalie who has won a cup or multiple cups as well. If the team is horrible in front of them, they aren't going to make any headway. A goalie isn't going to win a cup on his own. 2. How well the team is playing is tied to how the goalie does. Right now, the Red Wings are banged up and are in serious trouble. The last thing we should be doing is blaming Howard and calling him out for being average. Is Jonathan Quick average or are the Kings playing horrible hockey in front of him? Hell, this was the same team that won the cup last year. Right now, Chicago and Anaheim are playing great, and their goalies are the beneficiaries of that great play. It wouldn't matter if the Wings had Patrick Roy in his prime playing right now. The Wings would not have won more games this season with Roy in his prime than with Jimmy. The sooner that people realize that Howard is just a piece of the puzzle, and not the entire puzzle, then we will be much better off.

    Howard = Average

    I agree 100% with this. Although I will say that I find more intellectually stimulating conversation on the HFBoards at times, but I still believe this is the best place for all Wings talk. You are always going to have crap posters and trolls no matter where you go.

    Biggest mistake Red Wings have done

    4 Stanley Cups in the last 15 years and here we are mulling over the Wings biggest mistakes. Oh how spoiled we are.

    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

    True, I guess it depends on if you want to roll the dice on him. I don't think he is worth it.

    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

    I agree, I just don't see O'Reilly worth $5 million a season for a single great year. Consistency is everything. I just don't see it from this kid.

    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

    This! Also, you have to consider that he is still unsigned. He wants $5 million a season and I don't think he is worth that much for someone who has had one great season. PK Subban wanted the big money and settled for less when his team was doing well without him. OReilly has the leverage of his team being in last place in the Western Conference. So even if the Wings traded away Flip and Nyquist to get him, they would still need to sign him which I know Holland isn't going to do at $5 million a season.

    Babcock: Is he the right guy going forward?

    I bet he wants Charles Wong. He is the best GM in the NHL, and I bet he would be a great head coach.

    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

    I love how some people here can assume that another GM will take our scraps for a proven commodity. These imbalanced trade propositions aren't going to fly.

    Biggest mistake Red Wings have done

    We can also nitpick the crappy mistakes they have made as well. Trust me, there are just as many as the Wings have. Hrm, Holland made the team that won the cup in 2008 and his decisions helped take the team to the finals in 2009. Yzerman was an influence, but not the decision maker. I agree. Its a shame that a majority of fans here won't.

    Biggest mistake Red Wings have done

    3 Cups was probably a good reason why.

    2/10 GDT : Kings 2 at Red Wings 3

    When the game is called by humans, mistakes will be made. This picture just confirms it. How many calls have the wings gotten away with though that have not been called correctly by the refs? A lot. Same goes for the opposite. Fans of one team will look at all the missed or bad calls against the opposing teams as acceptable, while the blown calls against their team are unacceptable. The point is that mistakes are made and they all even out in the end. To use them as a crutch or excuse for winning or losing a game is just dumb.

    Not bad for average.

    I will listen up for comments like this in the future. I haven't picked up on this though but if two people here say it happens there may be some truth to it.

    I don't agree. I guess I don't see how he has disdain for other teams. I think a lot of the issue that wings fans have with him and the rest of the NBC team is that he isn't Ken and Mick. I really do feel that announcer taste has to do with bias. People want to hear calls biased to their team. Ken and Mick are pretty good about making it not as biased as others announcing teams though. The NBC team doesn't bother me. It's great to hear what other announcing teams think and not just kissing the butts of the Wings team and fans.
