    2/10 GDT : Kings 2 at Red Wings 3

I think it's funny how Olczyk is so bad when he doesn't credit the wings, but then Pierre credits Cleary for hard work in the corner and people here are still irritated. Guess they can't win.

He should be credited. He worked hard on that play. While I haven't been his biggest fan this season, he deserves credit where credit is due.

    2/5 GDT : Flames 4 at Red Wings 1

After watching this game last night until Calgary scored to make it 4-1, the only thing I can say is ugly. Here are the problems. Top 2 lines are good. Bottom 2 lines are not scoring. We need our bottom 2 lines to chip in some points. The injuries are killing us. Howard has played great this season. The goals scored against him he has had zero chance on tonight. The screened shot to make it 3-1 was just what Mickey said it was, "A puck that had eyes." He isn't allowing softies, but he also isn't getting goal support either. We weren't winning this game even if he robbed Calgary on 2 of the 4 goals they scored. I really don't understand why people here think Dekeyser is going to be some stud when he gets out of school. So far, he is just a prospect, and I am not convinced this guy is NHL material yet. Cleary sucks so bad. He really needs to be benched or put on waivers.

At the same time, its kinda hard to win scoring only 1 goal.

    Yup, the Wings are flat.

Yea, I read the same article. I guess you have to go off of past experience here. You know there are people who will try to draw penalties. We have seen Crosby dive a few times in the past and we laugh about it. Franzen just doesn't appear to do that. So I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

According to the rules, it was the intent of the play, it should be penalized. Even the announcers said it was a dangerous play. I don't know how hard he was hit because I was not the recipient. I suppose if you hate Franzen, then you can deduce it wasn't a spear and if you like him, then it was.

I remember when Jamie McClennen "slashed" Franzen and everyone on LGW threw a fit. I thought the slash was nothing at the time. Last night's spear was much worse, and LGW is 100% against him. I just find it funny how things turn on a dime around here.

My bad man. Thought you said something about Howard being terrible after letting that deflection in. I stand corrected. Honestly, I really feel tired of the negative rhetoric especially from the "die hard fans" here. I see more positivity in the HFBoards. Haha, we would have lost that game 12-1. I suck balls.

I believe anyone who has at least some professional experience would be able to look at things a little bit differently than those who are armchair fans. For instance, I have played rec league as a goalie since I was 27, and been reffing for 5 years now. I am experienced enough to know that deflections that go past a goalie are part luck and skill. I also know that deflections that actually hit the goalie are due to good positioning and luck. Howard had the positioning, but didn't anticipate the deflection off Brunners stick. So, I fail to understand how someone with Juniors experience can look at that situation and say that it was a weak goal or one Howard should have had considering the circumstances. Damn! Forgot Quincey.

I think I know what the correct list of things are after a Wings win and loss. Wings lose 1. Blame Franzen 2. Blame Howard 3. Blame Emmerton 4. Blame Ericsson 5. Blame the Power Play 6. Blame the coaching staff and management 7. Whine on the forums until the next game. Wings win 1. No one gets credit 2. Blame all players except Dats and Z for sucking. 3. Whine on the forums until the next game. Course, I should know how this goes after being on these forums for so long.

If you did, and I believe you did, then you are pretty ignorant about the effect of deflections on goaltenders.

I think you can answer that question quite easily just based on his uninformed answer.

Ken Daniels: That puck changed direction. Mickey: Yes it did. (Instant replay confirms it) Biased LGW Forum Member says it didn't. I think I will take the irrefutable video evidence and the announcers on this one.

Maybe if he could tell the future. Maybe he should ask Nicolas Cage about the power he had in the film "Next".

Yup, goaltenders should have deflections at all times.

Deflection by Brunner. Not Howies fault.

    PK Subban

Very true, all this is rumor. I don't think any player is going to go to the press and tell them what he thinks he is worth. The rumor wire is alive with this though, and the more I hear about it, it very well could be true. Its obviously more than 5 million over 2 years. Subban wants a 5-6 year deal, that much is confirmed. http://www.torontosun.com/2013/01/26/canadiens-pk-subban-remain-far-apart-in-contract-talks

I posted this once already. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/21527208/nhl-rumors-pk-subban-looking-for-doughty-money-in-new-deal Mind you, he isn't coming out and saying it, but if you have watched the news wire, it all fits together.

    PK Subban

I bet if Subban wanted $4 million a season for 6 years then it could be a done deal. As it turns out, he wants $6-$7 million for 6 years.

    Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

I play hockey, and even though I am in goal, I get excited when my teammates can tie it up before regulation either that or score a game winner. Hockey is an emotional sport if you play it right. Yakupov is young and it was probably one of the biggest goals he has scored and the home crowd was going crazy. I have zero problem with a goal celebration like that.

Knuble will sign with the Flyers

Too bad. I was hoping he would stick around Grand Rapids for a while. Ah well, I wish him luck! Ansar Khan ‏@AnsarKhanMLive Philadelphia Inquirer reports Mike Knuble will sign with Flyers on Friday. He was with Grand Rapids Griffins on pro tryout contract. Sam Carchidi ‏@BroadStBull Homer on Knuble: "He's excited to come back. He's familiar with some of our players. There's still a few guys left here from when he played." http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/knuble-no-longer-in-grand-rapids?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter He's headed to Philadelphia to take a physical tomorrow and if he passes, the Flyers will sign him. The Flyers hope Knuble will help after Hartnell broke his foot. I don't think Knuble had a chance with the Wings this season, but if he was a defenseman, that would have been another story.

P.K. wants Doughty money. He wants a 6-7 year term for $6-$7 million a season.

Knuble will sign with the Flyers

I went to the Griffins game on Wednesday and it was awesome. Knuble has been assistant coaching for his son's team in Kentwood. He got a suite for his kids team and the parents with food and the whole nine yards. We sat just below that suite and those kids were cheering every time Knuble went out on the ice. I was hoping Knuble would have hung around Grand Rapids a bit more and played for the Griffins for the rest of the season. The fans really loved seeing him play.
