I don't know about all our prospects either. I know there is some size with some of them though. I just don't know how many there are. I feel it is a little difficult to make a judgement on our prospects without knowing them all. Its not like I am watching all of them in Grand Rapids alone.

So where would you rank us in terms of prospects? 20?

Subban wants Drew Doughty money. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/21527208/nhl-rumors-pk-subban-looking-for-doughty-money-in-new-deal That being said, would you sign Subban long term for $6 million a season? This is going to be the Albatross that hangs over any NHL team that wants to trade for him. If Subban wants the same thing from his next NHL team, will they give it to him? Personally, I think Subban is not worth $6 million a season and a 6-7 year contract. Thats just too darn much.

10th out of 30 teams in the NHL when it comes to prospects. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team-rankings/ How is our farm system not any good?
-
My favorite has to be the first goal he scored in the 6-0 whitewash of Colorado back in the day. I just saw this video of the puck drop last night. Did he hand the puck to the guy on the Dallas bench? Its near the end.

For the first time in LGW history, I am agreeing with Buppy. Carry on! -

Ian White could have gotten more but wanted to come to a winner. Playing with Lids, Z, and Dats was probably also important. He wants to win a cup, so he is willing to take less. -
No problem. I will call you Mr. Obvious for now.

Brunner is a great player. So many chances. They are going to start going in for him.

No, I didn't ignore the part of your post. Wisnewski was up for signing the previous season. I didn't think I had to address every free agent that Holland went after in the last 5+ years. I believe Holland has made a concerted effort to improve the team since he took over. His effort to sign new players every offseason just prove that. Now, he hasn't been able to land anyone huge either. I will also say that I agree with something you mentioned in another post, and that is that they should have paired Lidstrom with Smith in his last season. Smith could have learned from the best, and he didn't get the chance. That depresses me greatly. -
Smith's hustle results in a power play for Detroit.

Howard is playing great again tonight.

The Wings could have been caught for an earlier tripping penalty. That one was also a no brainer.

It wasn't like the Holland just sat around though. They put offers out there on players like Wisnewski and Suter, and these players either wanted to play in a specific place or for the most money. So I go back to my earlier statement.... I suppose Holland either has to pull a gun on free agents or pull a gun on other teams and demand that they give us their best players for our scraps. That is the only thing that will make Wings fans happy at this point. -
The guy who wrote that article should be nicknamed "Captain Obvious". Heck, just reading the title I said to myself, "Duh!" The Wings have to play better, and they have to do it with a lot of players out of the lineup. Its going to be rough, but I hope they can persevere.

Yea, why have confidence in Holland? All the playoff appearances, the Stanley Cups as recent as 2008 and the finals in 2009. I mean, geez, he really has lost it. I give up. You win. -

So, there are no excuses. Ken Holland was expected to just pull a rabbit out of a hat, pull a gun on agents, or pull a gun on GMs and force them to come to Detroit. Good to know. IMHO, Ken Holland has done everything in his power to bring in a great team and great players. I really don't know what you expect, other than for him to blackmail players to come to Detroit or to literally trade scraps to GMs for top talent. -
Same goes for any of these kids who have limited/no experience at the NHL level. It was Lashoff's first NHL game and everyone expected him to play error free hockey? Smith I can kinda understand because he has been in the league off and on for a couple seasons now, but still has very limited experience at that level of hockey.

7 shots on goal for the Wings? Thats just disgusting.

GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year
Nightfall replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
The fact of the matter is that I will be on these forums no matter if they make the playoffs or not. I will just have to sift through the utter crap posts that have a combination of 2 of any of these words in the subject.... 1. Fired 2. Franzen 3. Samuellson 4. Holland 5. Howard 6. Babcock 7. Sucks That should eliminate 75% of the threads on this forum if a disaster strikes. -

The sky isn't falling. Those are just the virtual bodies of the fairweather fans that jumped off the rooftops of buildings. Prepare for impact! -
GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year

Oooooh! Let me finish this sentence! If we miss the playoffs...... A bunch of fairweather fans will leave the forums? *Check* A bunch of fairweather fans will stop buying tickets? *Check* A bunch of fairweather fans will start cheering for another NHL team? *Check* A bunch of fairweather fans will come back when the Red Wings start contending for a cup again? *Check* As a fan of the Red Wings, I am not concerned if the team makes the playoffs or not. I am going to support the team no matter what. Yes, I want to see a winner, but I don't put conditions on my support. I support Ferris State Hockey because they are my Alma Mater. They are playing .500 hockey this year, and there were years they were in the bottom half of the CCHA. Yet, when they had a great run like last year, it was great. Do I wish they could have a run like that every year? Yes, but its not realistic considering the size of the school, importance of hockey in the program, and their budget. The Red Wings have given me 20+ years of great memories. I never even watched hockey before I went to college, and I fell in love with the sport when I went to my first game. That being said, if they don't make the playoffs this year, big freaking deal. The management will turn things around next season. You have to realize that there are 29 other teams that are going to be competing for a playoff spot, and there are 22 teams that are playoff caliber teams. Some playoff caliber teams are going to miss the playoffs this year. Yup, I agree. There were two types of clubs though. The Red Wings spent intelligently for the most part. The Rangers did not. Which is why the Rangers had the highest or one of the highest payrolls and missed the playoffs or got bounced in the first round. Hrm.... Elite talent = Z, Dats, Franzen, Kronwall Role Players = Helm, Samuellson, Abdelkader Hot Goalie = Howard and Monster (possibly) Sounds like we have a shot. Course, you could plug names into those slots for 22 other teams in the league who feel they have a shot too. -
A player like Lidstrom comes around every 90 years or so. He was just that good. Kronwall is a legit #1 Dman and I think he is an elite defenseman because of his hitting power, shot, and so on. Is Weber better? I think Weber's shot is better, but he doesn't have the open ice hitting power of Kronwall. Still, Kronwall is an elite defenseman for sure.

HDMI out from laptop to TV? When I had gamecenter live, I streamed it from my apple TV, Boxee, and Roku boxes that I have plugged into my TVs. Those devices worked great.

Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade
Nightfall replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
I really don't know all the particulars. The Ducks said that it was legit, while Visnovsky and his agent say that it wasn't. A grievance was filed with the NHL so I guess we will see how it all turns out in the next week or so. If Visnovsky is in the right, then he does have a right to be pissed and have the trade voided.
