I really would like to see someone create a poll on this topic. I bet we would see 95% of LGW Members say that Holland doesn't deserve blame while the vocal 5% are saying he should be blamed.

Wow, so our cup back in 08 and cup finals appearance in 09 was a "long time ago"? Man, I wonder how Toronto feels with their last cup win. Or Edmonton for that matter. Heck, lets ask the Rangers how they feel since their last cup. This really does show the level of entitlement that Wings fans have grown accustomed to over the course of the last 25 years. Most teams have bandwagon fans. The Wings have achieved a level of greatness where the bandwagon effect hasn't been measured because we have been good for so freaking long. Now we are looking at Holland deserving blame for making the playoffs and not getting past the 2nd round since making it to the finals in 09. When I see this attitude, I just shake my head in disbelief. Is this really what some Wings fans have deteriorated to? The salary cap era has made the playing field level. No team is a slam dunk for a championship anymore. I will say this much. Any new GM that comes in may have successes in some areas, but failures in others. No GM is going to hit it out of the park on everything they do. So while a new GM may have landed Parise and Suter for Detroit, he may have not gotten Dekeyser and wouldn't have gotten Hossa either because he wouldn't have had the money to get them all. I get it, Wings fans want a championship. Its championship or bust mentality that really has to change though. Only 1 team gets to win the Stanley Cup every year, and the favorite doesn't win it much of the time. The sooner that we all realize that the Wings are just one of 16 teams in the playoffs and things have to go right for the team that wins it, the better off we will be.

The feeling is mutual with the KH attackers. I guess they don't like multiple cup winners.

The Griffins are going to be getting some key players back due to the Wings getting ousted in the playoffs. Damn shame, but hopefully the Griffins can win the next two and advance.

This is the start of the forum turning into a toilet on the verge of flushing..... What a great series. Wish it turned out different, but that is the way the cookie crumbles. Look at the bright side, the Griffins won tonight and they are going to get some horses back for their playoff run.

Maybe we can blame them for Detroit not putting the puck in the net. Better yet, maybe they will do it for us.

This is what a Game 7 should be. Both teams working their asses off. Great competition. Scoring chances. I just hold my breath whenever the Lightning get a shot on goal.

Thats what the Lightning are saying right now too. Its not like they aren't getting their opportunities either.

I will say this and then bow out of this thread until after the game is over. NO FREAKING EXCUSES This team is more than capable of winning this game. If they lose, its their own fault.

While I don't agree with the decision, I will say this.... Having Kronwall suspended for game 7 won't be an excuse if the Wings lose. It shouldn't be an excuse at least. If the Wings play their game, they will win. Simple as that.

I really think the Wings are going to come out on top in this game. I think the x-factors are coaching and leadership, something the Wings have a lot of. At the same time though, Tampa is a monster of a team and has a ton of skill. Its going to be a whale of a game for sure.

I would say that those people were much fewer than the ones who lauded the signing. Me? I thought it was a good signing as well. Up until the point that Weiss hasn't performed up to snuff.

In addition, there are some deals he hasn't made which could have positively or negatively impacted the team. We really can't say in hindsight if it was a good deal or not. I remember when Weiss was signed. Everyone was all over this signing as a great one. This was an upgrade over Flip. Now, he isn't viewed as an upgrade anymore.

This right here. I know many LGW members are all over Yzerman's nuts saying that he is the best GM since sliced bread. However, since he has taken over as GM of the Lightning, his team has made it to the conference finals once. Oh, I'm sorry, that wasn't his team because he didn't build it. Now, if it was his team, then Holland deserves credit for GMing the team in 98 when they won the cup, but I digress. If you don't give him credit for that, then he has won 0 playoff series. In fact, he has missed the playoffs and then got swept out last season. If his team loses in the first round this year to a team that is not as good as his, I wonder how many will anoint him as the best GM for Detroit? Jim Nill is the same thing. He goes into Dallas, makes a lot of moves, and LGW goes nuts all over him too. He is better than Holland, right? Instead, Dallas doesn't get into the playoffs. LGW is silent on him now. Both Nill and Yzerman have had questionable signings in their short tenure as well. So they are not immune to making mistakes either. Anyone saying that Yzerman and Nill are better than Holland only need to look at the track record so far.

Here we are two pages into this thread and all I have seen are threats, whining, bitching, and complaining. The thing is that nothing has been decided upon yet. Maybe we all should take a step back and wait until a verdict is rendered before passing judgement on the NHL, player safety board, Betteman, etc. Just my opinion.

IMHO, if you are going to oust Holland, replace him with someone better. There isn't anyone on the market that is better right now.

Mrazek is going to learn more from this playoff run than Howard will. If he falls on his face in Game 7 or if he falls short of the cup, he is going to learn a hard lesson and come back and work harder next year. I certainly hope he can keep things rolling this season though.

Assuming the Wings will get their ass kicked in Tampa is also a false premise. I also wish they would have shown up in the first period. Right now, both teams have reason to be kicking themselves. If the Lightning would have put forward a better effort in the two shutout losses, they may have been able to beat the Wings in 5 games. One thing is for sure, one of these teams will be kicking themselves on the golf course come Thursday morning. The question is, which team will it be?

Mrazek isn't the problem. Being able to score in the clutch is the issue. They had 2 very unlucky games in Toronto and now find themselves on the doorstep to elimination. This is why I like 7 game series in hockey. This first 5 game series is just such a crap shoot.

I really hope the Wings can beat the Lightning in this series and face Montreal. I didn't think that the Wings were going to beat the Lightning, and just based on Montreal's performance against the Sens, I think that the Wings have a much better shot to beat the Canadians. Still, this is why you play the games. Its tough to bet against Carey Price and the Vezina winning season he is having, but the Wings performance in the playoffs so far has been extraordinary.

My point is simply unless something is done to change the way the game is officiated, you aren't going to get rid of the human element. In this case, the puck was not in sight. It wasn't like the referee blew a call or made a mistake here. The puck was laying on the opposite side and it appeared Price had it. Every team has benefited and gotten stung by things like this in the past and there really isn't a way to fix it. So you would have just assumed the goalie didn't have it and allowed the other team to have free reign upon him because "this was a scoring chance and you assume that it wasn't an easy stop"? I can guarantee that if Mrazek was treated like that then there would be Red Wing fans up in arms about how the officials were biased against the Red Wings. I can also guarantee that the officials aren't biased for or against any teams in the NHL. Any claim that they are without proof really is baseless.
