Go watch the Griffins sometime.....thats also depressing.
-
I blame the hockey gods and the confidence of the team. Pucks bouncing over their sticks all night and just a lack of confidence. You can tell from all the low percentage shots and not being able to convert on great chances.
-
Big difference between showing some emotion and getting pissed off with the wings, and then what I quoted when I wrote that statement. There are certain statements that are a dead giveaway to jumping off the bandwagon.
-
It's agonizing, but nothing you can do about it. Thats why I was pissed off during the game. Now I am going to watch another game on gamecenter live. Gonna see if they can turn it around on Saturday. Thats all you can hope for at this point.
-
Please god.....let all bandwagon fans jump off now.
-
I'm not worried. Why worry about something you can't control? You should say... If you aren't pissed off right now, you are not a real fan.
-
Well, look at the bright side. If the Wings continue their spiral down the toilet, maybe the bandwagon and fairweather fans will take a vacation from the forums and the games. That will result in better hockey talk among the real fans.
-
Nah, maybe in the last 20 years.
-
Yea, the team is pretty frustrated thats for sure. You can tell just by watching them. The puck is bouncing over their sticks as well. Its just sad.
-
I think I let a goal in like that a couple weeks ago. Thats painful.
-
Thank god Howard has been on top of his game this season so far. If he wasn't, we would be in even worse trouble.
-
A gift by the refs. There was no penalty there. Wings have to score on the PP eventually.
-
For anyone who is interested in the Kronwall/Koivu OT incident. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=379465 Kerry Fraser really breaks it down well. I still think it could have been interference, but I do understand where Fraser comes from.

Someone has a reading comprehension problem. Seriously, this is what you understood from what you quoted?

I have normally been a very big proponent of the reffing in the NHL. Last night, there were missed calls and a couple that I had to question. I am sure that the refs who did the game last night will be hearing about it today. At the same time though, while everyone wants to blame the reffing, no one wants to point out that the Wings only scored one goal. They can't get more than 1 goal against Josh Harding in 2 games? Can no one see a problem with that? For those of us who play hockey, when we get a pair of bad refs or the reffing isn't going our way, we have two choices. 1. Blame the refs and take a loss. 2. Play through it and do what it takes to win. The Wings didn't do #1. They outshot and outplayed the Wild, even though the Wild had more PP time. They did what they could to win the game and yet lost on a deflection to tie the game and then a rebound in OT. s*** happens, but thats the way it goes. It is incredibly hard to win a game only scoring one goal.

This coming from the same person who said that people should be ok to say what they feel without the "thought police" saying anything. Didn't I just point out in another thread that people with extreme opinions or people totally of the mark should be pointed out? Yet, you defended them then. Now, this thread pops up and you are all over the OP.

If anything, it would have been an interference call against Koivu for not playing the puck. Kronwall had every intention to play the puck. Koivu took him out of the play. The referee down low was looking in front of the net. I don't know where the ref up high was looking, but maybe he saw it differently. In the end, you can't let the game come down to that. The Wings had to put a puck past Harding and they couldn't do it. You aren't going to win many games scoring one goal.

And therein lies the rub. The problem that I have is that it isn't hockey talk. Its a ***** fest. I am upset about the Wings not doing well. At the same time though, I point out where they were deficient and how they can improve next game. The "hockey talk" that you mention is not hockey talk. It takes more effort to actually dissect a game and look at the keys in a game. It takes less effort to yell, "Fire Babcock" or "Homer is worthless". Guess which route many of the LGW forum members take? In the end, when they do take that route, it makes those members look like a bunch of whining entitled brats. Otherwise, I agree with your assessment on the three losses. Its too early to tell. At the same time, the score was not indicative of how the game was played. Wings dominated in faceoffs and time of possession. Shots were about even. The Wings breakout was ok and their passing was average. In essence, they got beat by one goal.

I agree with you 100%. It has gotten so bad on these forums to the point that I am going to other hockey forum boards to be active. Reading all the negativity on these boards really does make me feel the way that you do. I will also add another word into your definition and that is "entitled". Many wings fans feel just because they put a team on the ice, that they are entitled to a victory. This is the kind of attitude that you breed when your team never misses the playoffs and has won 4 stanley cups. This forum really does need an enema. Then I read some of the positive comments from the great fans on this forum and it makes me change my mind. For as many negative fans, there are some positive ones that actually know the game of hockey. These are the people that I keep coming back to this forum for. I am watching a DVR recording of the game now. I was watching the Griffins get beat soundly by the Heat tonight. It looks like it is going to be a close game just from the first 10 minutes of the game.

9? I see 18. Time to check my settings.

Based on the bitching and complaining that I have seen after a loss, it doesn't lead to much actual hockey discussion either. I really chock it up to an emotional response. If you want actual hockey discussion and less of an emotional response, its not easy to find.
-
*Raises Hand* I predicted it, and I am a couple pages short of my prediction though. Yet, there is a lot of overreaction and blame going around for the loss, as normal. It was one bad game. Just chock it up to that and move along. We need more LGW forum members to have this kind of attitude. Especially during the course of an 82 game regular season, and more so being as that this was the Wings first loss after the best start in 30 years.

There is one reason why you aren't an NHL coach.
-
True, in which case, we could give Joey MacDonald another shot.
-
True, but mistakes happen. Every goalie has a bad outing now and then.
