We'll tell you when Osgood had a bad game and we'll be honest when the team didn't give him a chance to have a good game. Believe it or not, that does happen. It's not like we're just making excuses for Osgood for the sake of propping him up. And besides that, the "people" you refer to that get on the D as opposed to Osgood are profoundly outnumbered by the people who want to shovel the majority of the blame on Osgood. Again, for clarification: Osgood's been mostly solid this year, far better than last year and this was being said before the last 3 games even. He had that real stinker game and he's had some soft goals here and there (all goalies do...), but more often than not Osgood's been playing well enough to give this team a chance to win. Far too often early on the team didn't seem too concerned with winning and they left Osgood out to dry. There were games we lost that would've been far worse if not for Osgood's strong play, but the reality is, he can't do it all. Again, no one's saying he's been perfect, but he hasn't been remotely as bad as many have said. This play the last three games isn't "out of nowhere." He's had many games like this, but finally the TEAM is playing a full game and giving him support. The TEAM is playing like a TEAM. Everyone's doing their part and doing it fairly well and what do you know, suddenly we're winning games and Osgood's stats are going up. I do think Osgood's played his best in these last 3 games, but as many said, that was bound to happen too as he got more games under his belt and got into the groove again. Funny enough, many of the same people that weren't dead set on crucifying Osgood were also the one's not panicking about the rest of the team either. We said, "give it time, it's October..." And now November rolls around and suddenly we're on a 3 game winning streak, back chasing the 1st spot in the Central, Osgood's got good stats, Z and D are superstars, defense is playing defense... It's not that we really care so much about defending Osgood, it seems really that many of us are just far more reasonable in our analysis and not prone to succumbing to knee-jerk reactions and irrational hypefests. And thus, time tends to prove us to be right. Imagine that...

Wrong before last nights game, definitely wrong now. And I don't really give a rip about Luongo, it's only so many fans love to play "if only we signed Luongo for $8 million a season..."

The idea that the Hawks won't make the playoffs is absolutely laughable. All the best teams got off to slow starts this year and just as the Red Wings have begun to improve and show their true colors, the Hawks will soon follow. They'll get an extra boost on offense and in terms of thinking team defense once Hossa gets into the lineup. They'll be fine, and I wouldn't count out Huet to surprise some people before it's over. He's not great and he won't be at the top of the stats anytime soon, but it's early yet and as the team improves, his numbers will also improve, just like Osgood's have in a matter of days. Again, remember that a week ago Osgood was among the bottom of the pack of goalies in terms of stats and 3 solid games later he's moving on up again. In general, it's just way too early for this kind of ridiculous speculation.

I still think it's more sad that anything related to the swine flu is in the headlines at all. I don't even know what to say. Media and hype... Osgood just said exactly what I've been thinking since Flip went down and everyone scrambled with the lineup: we're figuring out where guys fit and it's helping. BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do, it's just sometimes the team decides to see what happens when Osgood is the only guy in a Wings uniform actually playing.

The Vancouver game was a blatant mess. It happens. Hell, it happened to Luongo in a game 7 game. The Phoenix OT goal: was it an ugly goal? Yeah. Do I blame him. Honestly, no. I don't think Osgood's head was in the game. Osgood gave the Wings more opportunities to win than they needed in the first 60 minutes and the team just completely fell apart in the last 10 minutes. I think Osgood was probably rightfully furious at the whole situation and I'm sure it got the best of him in OT. After all, it's October. I don't expect anyone to have the kind of focus they'd have in the playoffs in October. When your team just rolls over and dies while you're still playing great, and he absolutely played nothing short of GREAT for 60 minutes, it's gotta be infuriating. He's the only reason we didn't lose in regulation and I honestly knew that we were going to lose that game before OT started. The team rolled over and died and I think somewhere in Osgood's head a switch went off. I'm not saying it's totally right or that it wasn't a bad goal, but why in the hell should I fault the guy for having a GREAT 60 minutes and then have to go into overtime because the team completely gives up? It's a stupid thing to do. Every player on the ice owed Chris Osgood an apology for that loss. I really think he was just infuriated by the time OT rolled around and it got the best of him, but it was the rest of the skaters failing to do their jobs that caused it.
